"Good"
I flew economy class with Korean Air, and everything went smoothly. The flight attendants were attentive, and we were served two meals and a snack during the flight.
"A good economy product"
We flew basic economy with Korean Air to Thailand, with a transit stop at Seoul (ICN airport). With basic economy, we were unable to select seats during the booking stage or before check-in, but we had no trouble choosing our preferred aisle seat during the check-in process. We were allowed one checked bag (although we didn’t use the full luggage allowance) and a carry-on with one cabin bag plus a personal item. The first flight (from North America to ICN) was relatively empty and quite pleasant. The second flight segment (from ICN to Bangkok) was fuller. We opted for the seafood meal for onboard dining, and during boarding, the cabin crew quickly confirmed our meal selection. Our seafood meal was served ahead of the regular meals. On the North America to Seoul flight, there were three meal services (an onboard snack and a meal before arrival). On the ICN to Bangkok flight, there was one meal service. The in-flight entertainment offered a good selection of movies, though there was no Wi-Fi available. We were provided with pillows, blankets, disposable slippers, and a toothbrush with toothpaste for use onboard. Overall, we found the cabin service, entertainment, and meal quality to be satisfactory for an economy cabin.
"Great airline"
The inflight experience was nothing short of amazing, delivered by a crew that was hardworking, polite, and always ready with a smile, embodying South Korean hospitality at its finest. The legroom was excellent, and the seat was incredibly comfortable. Korean Air truly upholds the high standards seen in airlines like Singapore Airlines, JAL, and ANA — you couldn't ask for more. I want to acknowledge the fantastic service provided by HJ Lee, HJ Kang, JY Choi, and AN Mijin. They were not only excellent at their jobs but genuinely cared for the passengers. However, Bae Su Hyun truly stood out. She went above and beyond in making me feel welcome and well looked after. A big thank you to her, as well as to the rest of the crew!
"Has been had a monopoly on Las-icn route."
I have a complaint regarding the pricing of flights with Korean Air. Why is it that they charge significantly more for Korean passengers compared to people from other countries? It seems especially unfair on the LAS-ICN route, which is probably one of the most expensive due to the lack of competitors. Korean Air is the only airline offering direct flights on this route, so they essentially have a monopoly. For instance, a friend of mine booked a ticket from Las Vegas to Bangkok (with a layover in ICN) for $899 in November. However, for the same dates, I was asked to pay $1789. This pricing disparity has been a consistent issue. It feels like they take advantage of Korean passengers who want to return to their country. Even for one-stop tickets, the prices are still considerably higher than those on other airlines. I’ve always loved Korean Air, but this pricing structure has felt unfair for a long time, and it may drive me to consider other airlines for future travels.
"Everything including food was amazing experience. I forgot to request for special meal and when i entered the air craft"
Everything, including the food, made for an amazing experience. I forgot to request a special meal beforehand, but as soon as I boarded the aircraft, one of the flight attendants, Miss Yang Hyein, helped me throughout the entire journey. She made sure everything went smoothly, and I felt well taken care of until we reached Seoul.
"Average service"
I traveled with Korean Air from Phuket to JFK. Check-in was smooth, and the staff was polite and friendly. The service onboard was fine, but I felt the flight crew could have done a better job of informing passengers about what’s available during the flight and how to request these items. On several occasions, I went to the galley to get something — anything — but no drinks or snacks were available. Meanwhile, passengers around me were receiving snacks. It was unclear how non-Korean passengers should request these items, and better communication would have been appreciated.
"KAL removed benefit from overnight layover without notification"
I've flown with Korean Air many times on the same routes to Toronto, Canada, and I’ve always enjoyed the benefit of a night stay at the Grand Hyatt, including dinner and breakfast. However, on this trip, I was disappointed to learn that Korean Air has withdrawn the dinner offer at the hotel since September 2019. Despite booking my ticket in October, I was never notified of this change by the airline. Since the hotel is located in a remote area, the only option was to dine at the hotel's restaurant. So, if you're an old KAL customer, be aware of this change.
"Good flight but planes are aging"
Good flight, on time with friendly and helpful cabin crew. However, the business class seats weren't as comfortable as some other airlines, as it was an older 777. Sleep was a bit difficult due to the seat comfort.
"Good value and service"
This was my return flight from Incheon, Korea, back to London, UK. Compared to my outbound flight, this one was a much less pleasant experience. The flight was almost full (around 99% capacity, with only a few vacant seats at the rear). Many passengers were less considerate during the flight. Snacks and blankets were scattered all over the floor in the front part of the economy section. A young man sitting in my row (likely in his early 20s) had three cans of beer, one cup of noodles, in addition to the two meals and snacks provided on this 13.5-hour flight. When he wasn't eating or drinking, he was causing discomfort with stinky farts and sneezing multiple times without covering his nose. A middle-aged man was even arrested when we landed at Heathrow for smoking in the toilet. Despite the inconsiderate passengers, the flight crew did a wonderful job meeting passenger requests with a pleasant attitude. They also tidied up the toilets mid-flight, which made the long-haul journey much more bearable, and I really appreciated that. The in-flight entertainment was updated (as of March 31, 2024), and I was able to enjoy a Korean drama not available on Netflix, which helped kill at least 5 hours of the flight. The meals were nice, and I especially enjoyed the sandwiches provided as a snack mid-flight. The flight was delayed by an hour at Incheon Airport due to connection issues. Originally, the departure time was 2 hours later, but the arrival time remained the same. I assume the airline accounted for this delay, which seems to be a frequent issue. The flight route was actually shorter, as the plane flew over Russia instead of the Middle East, unlike the outbound flight. I booked the return flight 2.5 months in advance, and it cost £1,100 for a round trip from London, UK to Osaka, Japan, with a transfer at Incheon. Booking with Japanese airlines like JAL or ANA would have cost an additional £700 and still required a connecting flight at Haneda Airport in Tokyo. I would definitely fly Korean Air again when traveling to Korea and Japan from London. On another note, I met some fellow Londoners at the departure gate and found that the flight was delayed. Unfortunately, we couldn't find many eateries near the departure gates at Incheon Airport. There was Dunkin' Donuts right across from the gate and Paris Croissants towards the end of the terminal. My fellow travelers ended up with nice sandwiches while I had my last iced latte and red bean bun before leaving Korea, both of which were delicious.
"Rude, disrespectful and racists stewardesses"
I'm really sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with Korean Air, especially the unprofessional behavior from the staff. That sounds incredibly frustrating and completely unacceptable, particularly when you're expecting a respectful and comfortable flight. It's essential that passengers are treated with dignity, and no one should feel unwelcome or uncomfortable during their travels. It might be helpful to contact Korean Air's customer service directly to provide them with your feedback. This way, they can look into the matter and potentially address the behavior of their staff. They may not be aware of the issue unless passengers speak up. Your experience is valid, and I hope you find an airline that better aligns with your expectations for customer service and professionalism in the future. Thank you for sharing your feedback, and I hope your future flights are much more pleasant.
"September 2023 trip"
My wife and I took a roundtrip flight from HKG to ICN with this airline in September 2023. The service was good, and the flight schedule was punctual. The legroom, inflight entertainment, and meals were decent. The mobile app was quite handy, providing real-time notifications about our flight and baggage status. On our return trip from ICN to HKG, the check-in process was smooth. We were able to score a good deal when booking, so it’s worth keeping an eye out for promo announcements on their website. Overall, it was a pleasant experience — much better than flying with a budget airline to South Korea.
