"Good flight, good service"

I would like to highlight the outstanding care and assistance that SriLankan Airlines provided to my wife, who has difficulty walking long distances. Although the flight and service were great, my primary reason for writing this review is to commend the airline for their exceptional attention to passengers with mobility issues. I had arranged assistance through our tour operator prior to the flight, and from the moment we arrived at the SriLankan Airlines service desk at Heathrow, the staff went above and beyond to support my wife. Throughout the entire journey, from check-in to our return flight, the crew were incredibly helpful not only to her but to other passengers with similar needs. My wife felt comfortable and truly valued, thanks to the airline’s attentive service. It’s rare to see such a personal touch, and I am extremely grateful to SriLankan Airlines for making her feel "a bit special."

"Unacceptable Service from a Oneworld Airline"

As a frequent flyer and Gold member, I’ve experienced many airlines — but SriLankan Airlines stands out as the worst. On my flight from Colombo to Melbourne, my seat was broken, making it impossible to eat or sleep properly. I paid a premium fare and received a substandard experience in return. After the flight, I emailed the airline with photos of the broken seat and full flight details. I received one reply saying they were “working on it,” but five months later, I’ve heard absolutely nothing. This lack of accountability is unacceptable. I strongly advise others to avoid flying with this airline. It's deeply disappointing that a carrier offering such poor service is part of the oneworld alliance — a network that should demand higher standards. SriLankan Airlines does not meet those standards and should be removed from the alliance.

"Fairly good airline"

I recently flew on holiday from Chennai to Colombo and back with SriLankan Airlines. On the outbound flight, I was on an Airbus A330, which, although old, had plenty of legroom, making for a comfortable journey. However, the return flight was on an Airbus A320, which felt very cramped in comparison. The in-flight service was good, with friendly and attentive staff. Since it was a short flight, the meal options were limited to a sandwich and juice, but that was perfectly fine for the duration. The main area of improvement, however, was the ground service. I was particularly disappointed with the check-in experience in Colombo. The staff there seemed unengaged and were not very receptive. The lady who checked us in appeared quite grumpy, which was a stark contrast to the friendly and helpful in-flight crew. Overall, the flight itself was pleasant, but the ground service experience in Colombo needs significant improvement.

"How much do we pay for our airline. But what do we get from the airline? After a long time I decided to choose this airl"

We pay a significant amount to fly, but what do we actually receive in return? After a long time, I decided to try SriLankan Airlines again — unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The aircraft was dirty and poorly maintained. I even took photos of the condition: the portable dining table was damaged, and the food was cheap and unappetizing, including a crushed orange juice packet. As for the staff, they behaved as though the airline was their personal property, showing little concern for customer service. Their attitude was unwelcoming and dismissive. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend SriLankan Airlines to anyone. It was disappointing from start to finish.

"Good flight, great service."

Flew from Colombo to Mumbai with SriLankan Airlines. The flight was on time and the crew was excellent—professional and proactive. The only downside was the aircraft (4R-ABO), one of the older A320s in their fleet. The cabin interior showed its age, and the in-flight entertainment at my seat wasn’t working, though the crew kindly offered to move me to another seat. The meal served was excellent for a short two-hour flight. I’ll definitely fly with SriLankan again and hope to see some updates to their fleet so the hard product matches their outstanding service.

"Worst flight staff especially for women with hijab or niqab"

I'm a frequent flyer and a Gold member, and this is by far the worst airline in the world. On my flight from Colombo to Melbourne, my seat was broken-l couldn't even eat or sleep properly. I spent good money only to have such a terrible experience. After returning to Melbourne, I emailed the airline with pictures of my seat and my flight details. I received one response saying they were "working on it," and now, five months later, I've still heard nothing. I do not recommend this airline to anyone. Also, shame on the oneworld alliance for including them. They should be removed from the alliance entirely.

"Travel experience"

I recently traveled from Sydney to Colombo, and overall, my experience was mixed. The flight was on time, which was a positive, but there were a few areas that could use improvement. Outbound Journey (Sydney to Colombo): The food quality was okay, but I feel it could definitely be improved for a better in-flight dining experience. Customer service at the front counter in Sydney needed attention, as I observed poor handling of a passenger who didn’t have their health declaration in order. It created a bit of confusion, and I believe the staff could have been more attentive and helpful in such situations. Return Journey (Colombo to Sydney): On the return flight, the in-flight food quality was noticeably better, and the cabin crew were more attentive. The customer service was much improved, and the crew were more informative about health and quarantine requirements, which made the travel experience smoother. While the on-board experience was better on the return leg, there’s room for improvement in terms of customer handling at check-in and food quality on the outbound flight. Overall, it's a solid airline, but there's certainly potential for better consistency in customer service and food quality.

"Average"

We were traveling with a two-year-old and a 5-month-old baby, as well as our daughter and son-in-law, and unfortunately, our experience wasn’t as pleasant as we hoped. The staff were unhelpful and lacked the friendly, welcoming demeanor we expected. Their lack of smiles and warmth stood out, especially since Sri Lankan people are known for being so friendly and happy. The food was very bland, and the service felt inconsistent. It seemed that what was offered depended on where you were seated. For example, when my daughter was feeding her baby, she was told that her meal would be brought later, but it never arrived. This lack of attention to detail made the experience even more frustrating. Overall, we were disappointed with the service and the lack of warmth from the crew, which was a stark contrast to the typical hospitality of Sri Lanka.

"Excellent Service"

I had an outstanding experience with SriLankan Airlines, and I would like to commend the incredible service provided by the staff. Special thanks to Mr. Srinath and Ms. Sahashrika at the check-in counter, who went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible service and were comfortably able to board the plane on time. Their attention to detail was truly appreciated. The cabin crew was also very helpful, and the overall service throughout the flight was excellent. The food was delightful, with a wide variety of options that were not only delicious but also had a mouth-watering taste. I highly recommend SriLankan Airlines for its top-notch service and exceptional in-flight experience.

"Comfy Flight as it was only half full!"

Our group of eight flew from Katunayake to Bombay on SriLankan Airlines flight UL141 on 20th March 2023. Check-in at the airport was smooth and efficient, and the immigration officer was polite and welcoming. The duty-free shops appeared well stocked, which was a nice bonus. The aircraft was an Airbus A320 with a 3-3 seating configuration. Although our departure was scheduled for 23:35, the flight was delayed until 00:05 to accommodate passengers from a connecting flight. Fortunately, the plane was only half full, allowing us to travel in comfort with extra space. The in-flight meal was underwhelming—perhaps grabbing a snack at the airport beforehand would’ve been a better option. However, the cabin crew were courteous, helpful, and professional throughout the flight. Despite the late departure, we made up time en route and arrived in Bombay on schedule. Overall, a pleasant and comfortable short-haul experience.

SriLankan Airlines

SriLankan Airlines is the national carrier of Sri Lanka and a member of the Oneworld airline alliance. It was established in 1979 as Air Lanka, following the closure of the country’s original flag carrier, Air Ceylon. Today, it stands as Sri Lanka’s largest airline in terms of fleet size and destinations served, with its main hub at Bandaranaike International Airport. In 1998, the airline underwent a transformation after a partial acquisition by Emirates, which included a rebranding and the introduction of a new livery. A decade later, the Sri Lankan government took full ownership of the airline. Despite the end of its partnership with Emirates, the airline retained its new name and branding. Currently, SriLankan Airlines operates more than 560 flights each week across destinations throughout Asia.
