Mahan Air

"Worth the Money"
I was initially apprehensive about flying to Iran, but had to do so for work. I chose Mahan Air business class since it was cheaper than Emirates economy — and overall, it was a good decision. The Airbus A340-600 was spacious on my side, offering excellent legroom and a massive tray table (which the staff cleaned and covered with a cloth before serving food — a nice touch). The cabin crew were extremely friendly and professional, and the food was decent given the COVID context. My main issue was the lack of ventilation while parked — no engine meant no airflow, and the cabin got hot and stuffy. Also, be aware: there's no in-flight entertainment. But all in all, for the price and experience, both flights were comfortable and hassle-free.
"Old palne but good service"
Enjoyed a good meal, comfortable seats, and acceptable leg room. Maintaining these older aircraft while still providing reliable and pleasant service is truly an extraordinary achievement. Hats off to the team for their dedication!
"Good Airline"
Our outbound flight was excellent—punctual and even equipped with seat‑back entertainment on a two‑hour hop. Unfortunately, the return leg was a different story: originally scheduled for 11 a.m., we boarded, sat on the aircraft for two hours, and were then told departure was pushed to 5 p.m. At 4:15 p.m. another announcement bumped us to 8 p.m., and we finally left Dubai around 9 p.m. What began as a seamless experience ended in a day of frustrating, rolling delays.
"Poor airplan"
The flight left much to be desired — the seat was broken, the in-flight entertainment (if any) was unengaging, and the food quality was poor. The aircraft itself felt quite old and outdated. However, credit where it’s due: the captain was exceptional. The takeoff and landing were incredibly smooth — truly the highlight of an otherwise disappointing flight.
"Flight cancelation"
I do not recommend this airline. While they appear to offer flexible flight times when booking, it's misleading — they overbook and then cancel or merge flights without proper notice. This happened to us on both our outbound and return journeys. We ended up waiting over 5 hours at the airport, completely disrupting our travel plans. Worst of all, no one took responsibility or offered proper support. Very frustrating experience. 😡🙄
"Business with a good price"
Mahan Air’s aircraft for this route isn’t the most modern, but the comfort level — especially in comparison to economy — is a noticeable improvement. The Airbus with a 2-4-2 seating layout provides decent space and more comfort than expected. However, the meal quality and overall service still fall short when compared to many international airlines. A fair option if comfort matters more than premium service.
"Good Service but old planes"
As a fearful flyer, I usually avoid budget airlines, worried they might cut corners on maintenance. However, my experience on this flight surprised me. The A310 is clearly an older aircraft, which initially heightened my anxiety, but the service and food were genuinely impressive — far exceeding my expectations. While the age of the plane remains a concern, the overall experience was smooth and reassuring.
"They’ve nailed it! Bravo!"
A great flight overall! The pilot and entire crew delivered superb performance, handling everything with professionalism and integrity. Given the circumstances, their conduct was both ethical and commendable — a truly reassuring and pleasant experience.
"Economic and Acceptable"
I chose this flight mainly for its affordable price and convenient schedule between Tehran and Dubai. The onboard meal was surprisingly good — definitely one of the better options among Iranian airlines. However, a few downsides stood out: no alcoholic beverages are served, and although the aircraft had seat-back monitors, they were all non-functional. If your flight is longer than a couple of hours, this lack of entertainment can be quite exhausting. Also, landing at Terminal 1 in Dubai means a bit of extra distance compared to Terminals 2 & 3. Still, for the price, it delivered decent value.
"good trip"
Our flight departed and arrived right on time, which was the highlight of the trip. The food was decent — nothing special, but acceptable. What truly stood out was the kindness and professionalism of the crew; they were attentive and very pleasant throughout. The aircraft itself wasn’t the most comfortable, but for a short 3-hour journey, it was manageable. I’m giving 4 stars mainly for the punctuality and excellent staff.
Mahan Air
Mahan Airlines, operating as Mahan Air, is a privately owned Iranian airline headquartered in Tehran, Iran. It provides scheduled domestic and international flights across the Far East, Middle East, Central Asia, and Europe. Its main hubs are Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad International Airport. The airline has been the subject of significant international sanctions and scrutiny. It is affiliated with the Quds Force, a branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Due to its support for regimes such as those of Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro and Syria’s Bashar al-Assad, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain banned it between 2019 and 2020. In 2024, the European Union imposed sanctions on Mahan Air for allegedly transporting weaponry to Russia during the Russo-Ukrainian War. The airline is also under U.S. sanctions for suspected links to Hezbollah and other sanctioned entities.
