"Exceptional Food and Service, But Lacking Atmosphere at Hakkasan Mayfair"
The food at Hakkasan Mayfair was absolutely incredible—each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch: attentive, professional, and seamless throughout the evening. However, the atmosphere left much to be desired. The space felt extremely loud and overcrowded, with tables packed so tightly it was almost claustrophobic. Having a proper conversation required raising our voices, and the lack of privacy detracted from what should have been a luxurious experience. If you’re going for food and service, this is the place—but don’t expect a quiet, intimate dinner.
"Decent Atmosphere but Average Food and Slow Service"
The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, though it feels a bit too dark. The service was just okay, but it was sometimes difficult to get the attention of the staff when we needed assistance. The food was fairly average, with nothing truly exceptional standing out. At the end of the evening, the cloakroom had a long queue of about 16 people, which meant it took quite some time to retrieve our coats.
"Excellent Sunday Brunch with Just a Couple of Minor Flaws"
Overall, the Sunday Brunch offers excellent value. The cocktails are outstanding, and the food is exquisite. There were just two minor drawbacks: the service was a bit off, as we had to ask twice about one missing dish, and the back seat I was on was possibly the most uncomfortable seat I’ve ever used—felt more like sitting on a park bench.
"Interesting Experience but Not Quite Worth It"
Highly recommended by our British friend, we were eager to try this restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the experience was interesting. There was a standalone cloakroom attended by a well-presented young gentleman. The hostess greeted us warmly, but communication felt lacking — we were directed to the basement and had to repeat our request, which came across as somewhat disorganised. Since we arrived early, we enjoyed a drink at the bar. The taste was decent, though priced at £20, which is expected in Mayfair. We had been craving Peking Duck and were excited to order it. The duck was beautifully cooked, and the whole duck was brought to our table just 10 minutes after ordering. However, it oddly returned to us 50 minutes later, which made us wonder if it was simply staged and shown to every table ordering Peking Duck. Our server was attentive and clearly tried his best, but we were asked repeatedly—over ten times—“How was your starter?”, “How was your duck?”, “How was your…” which quickly became intrusive and annoying. The ambiance was cosy, though the music was quite loud, making it difficult to hold a conversation at our own table. Overall, I would probably recommend Imperial Treasure instead — the food is more authentic, the service better, and the price point comparable.
"Disappointing Service and Oily Food, but Nice Ambiance"
The overall experience was let down by a rude waiter who came across as overly imposing, making the service feel far from welcoming. The Hakka noodles were excessively oily, and the service certainly didn’t justify the added service charge. On a positive note, the ambiance was pleasant and well-designed, which helped soften the otherwise underwhelming visit.
