"A Favorite Spot for Comfort Food and Great Coffee"
We discovered this place last year and have kept coming back ever since. The food is really good, and the coffee is excellent. It’s a perfect spot to bring out-of-town guests, thanks to its wide variety of comforting dishes right in the heart of Madrid (and Valencia too!).
"Lovely Bakery with Great Basics, But a Few Misses"
As a fan of Alma Nomad Bakery in Olavide, I had high hopes for this location. The orange bizcocho and tomato toast did not disappoint — both were fresh and delicious! It’s a pet-friendly spot, accepts both cards and cash, and the staff were kind and welcoming. However, there were a few letdowns. The grilled cheese sandwich was overloaded with onions, which wasn’t mentioned on the menu. The almond croissant was unfortunately burnt. On top of that, the atmosphere was a bit chaotic with two different music tracks playing at once, and there’s no Wi-Fi available — something to note if you’re planning to work from here. Overall, a charming place with solid offerings, but a few improvements would go a long way.
"Long Waits, Mixed Quality, But Outstanding Staff"
We arrived at this café with high hopes — the long line outside suggested a popular spot. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t fully meet our expectations. First, we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes just to be seated and place our order, followed by an additional 45 minutes to receive two toasts. Several nearby tables were also expressing frustration with the slow service. When it came to ordering, we were disappointed to find out that pizzas are only available in the afternoon, something that wasn’t clearly mentioned online. It would be helpful if the opening hours and menu availability were better communicated, especially on platforms like Google Maps. As for the food: The mushroom toast was fantastic — flavorful and well-made. The avocado toast, however, was underwhelming. It’s something you could easily recreate at home for a fraction of the cost. On top of that, it came with cilantro, which wasn't mentioned on the menu — an ingredient that many people either love or strongly dislike. The dessert was a major highlight: the pistachio and chocolate croissant was absolutely divine and definitely worth the visit. Drinks: The beers are organic and priced at €5 each. While tasty, there’s no lower-priced alternative, and the branding leans a bit toward greenwashing. Seating: You can choose between shared or individual tables. If you prefer privacy, you’ll need to wait longer for an individual one. The service was the saving grace of the experience. Every staff member was kind, attentive, and incredibly hard-working. They were constantly moving and handling the crowd with grace and professionalism. They are the reason this review gets two stars. Final note: This is honest feedback based on a real experience. We hope management sees this as constructive criticism. The staff deserves recognition — and ideally, fair compensation — for their exceptional work in a very demanding setting.
"Stylish Café with Great Service and Quality—Best Avoided on Weekends"
This beautifully designed café, set in a spacious warehouse with industrial flair, offers a premium experience. While prices are on the higher side, the quality and portion sizes justify the cost. Service is both quick and attentive, contributing to a smooth and pleasant visit. Tables are large and comfortable, and the layout provides enough space for those coming with baby strollers. If you're planning to work, note that only some tables are designated for laptops, so be mindful of the setup. Insider tip: Try to avoid weekends, as the place tends to get extremely crowded, which may affect both your comfort and the overall experience.
"Tasty Pizza and Cozy Vibes Despite a Few Misses"
I went for dinner with a friend and had a reservation. The place has a slightly cold feel, which is expected given its industrial-style decor, but overall the ambiance was pleasant. Service was attentive and professional throughout the evening. We tried a pizza with mushrooms and jowls—absolutely delicious and definitely a highlight of the meal. The anchovy with croissant was also a flavorful surprise. However, the burrata with tomato fell short—it lacked seasoning, and the tomato was barely noticeable. Despite that small letdown, I’m looking forward to returning—especially to try their breakfast menu next time!
"Overhyped and Overpriced — Not Worth the Wait"
I visited this spot after seeing it all over social media and was genuinely excited, especially since there aren't many places like this near my home. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. The place was packed with a long queue and a lot of noise, so I decided to opt for takeaway instead. The prices are steep for what you get—while the pastries weren’t bad, they certainly weren’t anything exceptional. I paid €6.90 for sliced bread and €6 for a focaccia that was dry and lacked flavor. The cinnamon roll and concha were decent, but again, far from memorable. Given how crowded it was, I didn’t even try staying for breakfast. For now, I’ll stick with what I took home, but I don’t see myself rushing back anytime soon.
