"Charming Atmosphere, Disappointing Food and Wine"

This restaurant has a lovely ambiance and inviting setting, but unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. Several dishes lacked flavor and felt unbalanced, which was surprising given the reputation. One of the biggest letdowns was the wine list — uninspired and overpriced, with few interesting options to complement the meal. While the space is beautiful and service was decent, the overall dining experience felt underwhelming. With so many great places to eat in the area, I wouldn’t return based on food and value alone.

"Memorable Dining with Excellent Service and Cozy Ambience"

Everything about the experience was delightful — from the cozy, beautifully designed space to the attentive and multilingual staff who provided fantastic service throughout the meal. The tasting menu is an excellent option, thoughtfully curated and executed with flair. While the food and atmosphere fully live up to expectations, the only drawback is the pricing, which feels a bit steep compared to similar tasting menus elsewhere. Still, for a special evening out, it's a worthy splurge.

"Overpowering Flavors and Disappointing Aftermath"

We had high hopes for the tasting menu, but most of the dishes came across as overwhelming and unbalanced — the flavors were far too intense, even in the smaller snack bites. Instead of being refined, they felt excessive. At the end of the meal, we were asked for tips, which felt awkward, especially considering we’ve dined at other Michelin-starred restaurants in Barcelona that never did this — and those offered a much higher level of quality and experience. Unfortunately, about six hours after the meal, I experienced mild food poisoning, which really soured the entire experience. Disappointed overall and wouldn’t return.

"A Magical Dining Experience Full of Heart and Flavor"

What a truly wonderful — and nearly indescribable — experience! This restaurant ranks among the best I’ve ever visited. From the moment you step inside, you're embraced by a cozy, inviting atmosphere with just the right music to enhance the moment. The staff are genuinely warm and welcoming — friendly without being intrusive, and clearly passionate about creating a memorable experience. As for the food? Absolutely incredible. Each dish from the tasting menu was a masterful reinvention of familiar flavors, elevated to something bold, balanced, exotic, and unforgettable. You can taste the care and creativity in every bite. If you’re seeking both extraordinary food and heartfelt hospitality, this place is a must. Immense gratitude to the chef, the team, and the owner for such a standout experience — one we’ll remember for years to come.

"Approachable Excellence — Mont Bar Truly Deserves Its Star"

To cut to the chase: Mont Bar is absolutely deserving of its Michelin star. What sets it apart, however, is how relaxed and approachable the entire experience feels — a refreshing contrast to the overly formal or theatrical vibe you sometimes find at starred restaurants. Despite its small size and closely set tables, the atmosphere is comfortable, and the service remains impeccable throughout. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and make you feel completely at ease. As for the food — almost every course hit the mark. Standouts included the wagyu, the foie gras and truffle terrine (a perfect balance of richness and finesse), and a bold pigeon dish that offered a strong finish. Wine pairings were well thought out and elevated the dishes. Special credit to the kitchen for their thoughtful lactose-free dessert adaptations — they didn’t miss a beat. The final bill for two tasting menus, wine pairings, water, and coffee came to around €580 (including a 10% cash tip), and for the quality delivered, it felt absolutely worth it. This is a dining experience we’d happily repeat.

"Interesting Experience, But Tasting Menu Missed the Mark"

Out of all the courses in the tasting menu, only a few truly stood out to us. That said, we appreciated the chance to try something new, as it was our first time experiencing a more avant-garde style of cuisine. Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite meet expectations — having to ask twice for a drink refill was a bit disappointing. Given the high price point, the overall experience didn’t quite feel like good value. If we were to return, we’d likely opt for the à la carte options instead of the tasting menu. It might be a better way to enjoy the restaurant without the commitment or cost of a full course lineup.

"A Culinary Experience Like No Other"

From the moment we walked in, the entire experience was flawless. Every staff member was incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We were seated at the bar, which offered a great view and added to the charm. The menu is full of exciting options, and we were especially impressed by the spot-on wine recommendation. Each dish was thoughtfully crafted and absolutely delicious — more than just a meal, it was a true culinary journey. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a special dining experience!

"Excellent Food Let Down by Disappointing Service"

There’s no question that the food here is top-tier — creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the service did not match the standard of the kitchen. Our server left mid-meal, likely at the end of her shift, and the remaining staff offered little follow-up. At a Michelin-starred restaurant, this kind of casual approach to service is unexpected and undermines the overall experience. While the dishes themselves were impressive, the lack of attentiveness and professionalism made it feel more like a casual spot than a fine dining destination. At this price point, I would prefer to explore other restaurants where the service matches the quality of the cuisine.

"Well-Deserved Michelin Star – A True Gem in the Heart of Barcelona"

This restaurant absolutely earns its Michelin star! Located centrally in Barcelona with nearby paid parking, the space is intimate and beautifully decorated, featuring both indoor and terrace seating with a cozy, refined ambiance. The menu is nothing short of spectacular — imaginative, high-quality dishes that reflect exceptional culinary creativity. The wine list offers an impressive range of both national and international labels, perfectly curated to complement the cuisine. Service is another highlight: professional, friendly, and elegant from start to finish. Having known this restaurant before it received its star, it's clear that they’ve only improved, continuously elevating both their food and hospitality. Honestly, there’s nothing negative to report — this place is a must-visit for any food lover in Barcelona.

"Exceptional Food but Details Miss the Mark at Mont Bar"

We visited Mont Bar for the tasting menu and were impressed by the quality of the food — creative, beautifully prepared, and mostly seafood-focused despite the name “Mont” (Mountain). Most dishes were delicious, though a couple didn’t quite hit the mark for us. The staff were attentive, frequently topping up wine and water, though friendliness varied between servers. Explanations of dishes often felt rushed and were difficult to understand due to strong accents, leaving us uncertain about what we were eating at times. The decor is modern and stylish, but the small space lacks intimacy. Seating was uncomfortable, especially the high stools by the door where we felt cold drafts whenever someone came in. The atmosphere leaned more touristy than refined, with no dress code in place. Even the restrooms felt underwhelming, lacking the upscale amenities you'd expect at this level. One awkward moment came at the end: when paying by card, we were prompted for a tip — something that felt out of place for a restaurant charging around €200 per person. While the food was truly outstanding and the service attentive overall, the lack of refinement in other aspects left us feeling that Mont Bar doesn't quite live up to its Michelin star in terms of the full experience. A solid 3.5 stars — rounded up to 4 for the culinary excellence.
