"Outstanding Service & Atmosphere, But Flavors Fell Short"

From the moment I walked in, the service was phenomenal — exactly what you’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The ambiance strikes a unique balance with its eclectically modern design and spacious, open vibe. That said, the openness also carries kitchen sounds, which may either add charm or feel distracting depending on your preference. The presentation was exquisite. Every dish felt meticulously crafted, and the wine and cocktail pairings were thoughtfully chosen to complement the courses. But unfortunately, the flavors didn’t live up to the visuals. While each dish was fresh and offered exotic touches, the overall tasting menu lacked depth and excitement. Nothing stood out as truly memorable, and the journey through the courses felt more flat than dynamic. For the price point and prestige, the flavors should have been the highlight. Instead, it was the service and setting that carried the experience. ⭐ Verdict: Beautiful restaurant and impeccable service, but the food didn’t deliver on expectations.

"Kjolle – A Journey Through the Soul of Peru"

Nestled in Lima’s artistic Barranco district, Kjolle delivers an extraordinary dining experience that immerses you in the essence of Peru. Under the visionary leadership of chef Pía León, the tasting menu guides guests through the country’s rich and diverse landscapes — from the lush Amazon to the towering Andes. Each dish is a celebration of native ingredients like yuca, sachapapa, camu camu, and Andean tubers, presented with artistry and precision. Flavors are layered, refined, and deeply rooted in Peru’s vibrant cultural and natural heritage. The atmosphere strikes a balance between elegance and authenticity, featuring natural textures and locally inspired design elements. Service is impeccable — warm, knowledgeable, and seamlessly attentive throughout the meal. For an even richer experience, the wine pairing is a must. Each glass is thoughtfully selected to highlight and harmonize with the bold yet balanced flavors of the menu. Kjolle is more than just a restaurant; it’s a culinary exploration of Peru’s biodiversity and identity. Every plate tells a story, and every moment resonates with meaning, leaving an impression that lingers long after your meal.

"What an Experience!"

We absolutely loved our time here. The service was stellar—attentive, warm, and polished in a way that reminded us of our visit to Pujol years ago. While not quite as boundary-pushing or creative, the vibe felt very similar: relaxed elegance with a focus on the overall journey. The food was excellent and fun—every dish was tasty and beautifully presented. That said, there weren’t any single standout plates that left a lasting impression; it felt more like a cohesive experience than one built around memorable bites. The venue itself is peaceful and stunning, making it as much about the ambiance as the food. If you’re looking for a serene and beautiful culinary experience, this is the place. It’s less about bold flavors and more about enjoying the artistry of the moment.

"Beautiful Presentation, but Uneven Experience"

The presentation of the dishes was undeniably elegant and enjoyable — each plate felt like a work of art. However, the overall experience didn’t quite match the high price point. Portions were on the small side, leaving us wanting more in terms of both quantity and depth of flavor. One highlight was the pairing with juices and extractions, which added an original and refreshing element to the meal. That creativity stood out and balanced some of the shortcomings. In the end, while there were moments of brilliance, the experience as a whole felt a bit underwhelming.

"A Culinary Journey Through Peru"

The menu is a true discovery of ingredients and flavors — the kind of dishes you simply cannot recreate at home. Each plate takes you on a journey across Peru, showcasing creative and elevated recipes that highlight the country’s rich biodiversity. This is an ideal spot for a special occasion, where the experience feels as memorable as the food itself. Keep in mind that booking well in advance may be necessary to secure a table. Highly recommended for adventurous food lovers.

"Desserts Worth Breaking the Rules For"

The concept here reminds me of two of my personal A-list dining experiences — Sfumato in Dubai by Alena and Meteora in Los Angeles by Jordan. It’s almost there. I don’t regularly eat sweets since I’m living a sugar-free, happy life, but the desserts here are definitely worth it. Come for the experience, but especially stay to try the desserts.

"Beautiful Service, Good Food — But Overpriced"

It is very expensive, so I came expecting the best food in Lima. While the dishes were very good, they didn’t quite justify the high price tag. The atmosphere also felt a bit intimidating, and I didn’t feel completely comfortable throughout the meal. That said, the service was absolutely excellent — attentive and professional.

Truly one of the best restaurants in the world. An amazing gastronomic journey from start to finish — every detail, from the food to the service, was impeccable. A must-visit for anyone passionate about fine dining.

"Fantastic Tasting Menu but Disappointing Portion Practices"

We tried the tasting menu and were blown away by the creativity and flavors. Each course felt meticulously designed, with different plates and cutlery enhancing the experience. My personal highlights were the Muchos tubérculos and Costilla de vaca—both outstanding. Service was attentive and the staff clearly cared about communicating the story behind each dish, which we appreciated. However, one big letdown was the unbalanced food distribution. Some shared courses came in portions that were clearly unequal between tables of 2 and 4, even though everyone pays the same price for the tasting menu. When we raised this with the waitress, we were told they wouldn’t adjust the portions for us. At this level of dining, this kind of inconsistency is frustrating and took away from an otherwise amazing experience.

"Underwhelming for the Hype"

Everything about the evening was… fine. But sadly, it fell far short of the hype we’d heard surrounding this restaurant. To be fair, our expectations were high, yet the food never rose above what I’d expect from a solid neighborhood bistro. The squash and shrimp purée tasted exactly as described, nothing more. The salad felt uninspired—some dehydrated leaves but mostly like a basic garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Beef cheeks? Competently done, but no different from any other beef cheek in red wine reduction I’ve tried elsewhere. My girlfriend’s fish was well-grilled and nicely seasoned, but that’s as far as her compliments went. Perhaps this place is more about the experience than the food. If so, we missed it. For us, it didn’t justify the price or reputation.
