"Worth the Hype: Fresh Flavors and Lively Ambiance"

We decided to check this place out because of all the hype, and it didn’t disappoint. Arriving a few minutes before opening, we found a line already forming, and the restaurant quickly filled up soon after—so I’d highly recommend coming early if you want to secure a seat. The atmosphere was vibrant and energetic. The fish was fresh, and the portion sizes were generous—the seafood rice, in particular, is large enough to share. The sea urchin mix was a bit too acidic for my taste, and while the service was good, it felt a little impersonal—not bad, just not memorable. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience and are glad we gave it a try!

"Decent Experience but Falls Short on Flavor"

We didn’t have to wait for a table on a Tuesday at 1 PM, though the restaurant was already quite bustling inside. The menu is extensive, which makes it a little overwhelming to choose from on a first visit. The ceviches we tried were good but not particularly memorable—we’ve had better in NYC. The uni portions were impressively large but lacked the rich flavor of their pricier counterparts from Japan or Santa Barbara. As for the grilled seafood, it was mediocre at best; everything seemed to be coated in the same sauce, which didn’t complement all the dishes—especially the scallops.

"Delicious Food and Great Service"

The food was excellent overall! The only dish we didn’t enjoy was the causa with crab, but everything else we tried was amazing. Ivan was incredibly helpful and friendly, making our experience even better. And the cocktails are a must-try—they really elevated the meal.

"Great Cocktails and Fresh Fish, but Mixed Impressions on the Food"

The cocktails were fantastic—I’d come back just for them. I had the La Mar de Lima, which was amazing, and also really enjoyed the Rey de Lima. We ordered ceviche and nigiri; the ceviche was decent but a bit too salty and acidic for my taste. The tuna nigiri, on the other hand, was excellent—super fresh and great quality fish in both dishes. My sister tried the Mantaro, but we didn’t love it; the sauce made the fish overly creamy, which wasn’t our preference. The restaurant gives off a vibe of trying to be upscale, making it feel more like a place for a “fancier” dining experience. If I return, I’d skip the ceviche and try some of their non-ceviche dishes instead—the stone fire grill in the back looked very promising.

"Disappointing Food Despite Excellent Service"

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. We waited in line for over two hours, and it just wasn’t worth it. Everything we ordered—ceviche mixto, Bachiche tiradito, and pescado Don Pepe—was mediocre at best. The fish lacked seasoning and flavor, and the sauces were underwhelming. The only highlight was the excellent service—the staff was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Sadly, the food didn’t match the level of service. I won’t be coming back.

"Overhyped but Fresh Seafood"

I honestly don’t understand all the hype around this restaurant. We arrived 20 minutes before opening and found a queue already forming, though we did manage to get a table right as they opened. The seafood was undeniably fresh, but the flavors were underwhelming—especially considering the high prices. In fact, we had better ceviche at a street stand the next day for a fraction of the cost. The standout dishes were the squid ink ravioli and the scallops, but overall, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations.

"Good but Didn’t Live Up to the Hype"

I had high expectations after reading all the glowing reviews. While it’s a nice restaurant, nothing truly impressed me. The traditional ceviche was too sour and had a slightly fishy taste—not as good as what I had in a cooking class in Cusco. The seaweed was also a bit too dry for my liking. On the positive side, the grilled shellfish was fresh and enjoyable. It’s definitely worth a try if you’re nearby. I arrived at 11:45 AM and there were only six people ahead of me in line.

"Disappointed by an Average Experience"

I’m disappointed to say I wasn’t impressed. It felt like a very average experience for me, though it’s clearly a very popular spot. The cocktail of the month and the chocolate cake were excellent highlights, but overall, I didn’t find the food particularly memorable.

"Amazing Food and Great Experience"

We had a wonderful time here! The food was incredible, and I highly recommend trying the black ravioli—it was a standout dish. Keep in mind they don’t take reservations, so make sure to arrive before 12:00 to beat the line and snag a good table.
