"Try to avoid"

First impressions were really good. Our suite was large and modern, but unfortunately, there were several issues. The staff struggled to understand requests in English, which made communication difficult. Additionally, loud music played on the street outside until 2:30 am, disrupting our sleep. Despite paying extra for a suite, the sheets were rough and uncomfortable. To top it off, I became ill for 24 hours after breakfast.

"The Walter Roger was very kind and simpatico"

Amazing stay with fast and excellent service. The hotel is conveniently close to the station and the bus to Machu Picchu. Highly recommended! Dinner was delicious, with special attention from Roger.

"A good base for visiting Machu Picchu"

We only stayed one night, but El Mapi offered everything we needed for a comfortable stay in Aguas Calientes. Our room was small but clean and cozy. The hotel is centrally located, just minutes from restaurants, the market, and the bus stops to Machu Picchu. We enjoyed a delicious meal at the hotel’s restaurant and found the breakfast to have a wide variety of tasty options. With friendly and helpful staff, El Mapi is a great choice for anyone visiting Aguas Calientes.

"Decent hotel but noisy"

The hotel is nice enough but very busy, much like a ski resort, with large groups coming and going constantly. The main issue is the noise—from both the street and the hotel bar. Due to the building’s design, there are gaps between the main structure and the elevator shaft that let in a lot of noise. When I mentioned this to reception, they acknowledged the problem and apologized but said there wasn’t much they could do. Despite that, it’s a clean place with good breakfast and suitable for a one-night stay.

"Good"

The hotel is very well located and comfortable. The food was also very good, and they welcomed dogs, treating them very well. The only downside was that the water barely got hot.

"Small rooms"

The hotel’s layout is quite charming, with a sprawling low-rise complex feel. The room was okay but on the small side. The staff were somewhat inefficient. Breakfast was disappointing, offering only a limited selection. The small lobby is often congested, crowded with large groups checking in and out.

"Ok for one night"

The hotel is conveniently located for quick access to the train station and buses to Machu Picchu. Our room and bathroom were very small, with limited storage space. The bathroom window and the room windows didn’t lock well and weren’t fully sealed, so it was often a bit cold inside despite the room being clean. The small rollable radiator wasn’t enough to warm the space. Additionally, our room was quite noisy. For a one-night stay en route to Machu Picchu, the hotel is adequate. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and luggage storage was available all day on the day of departure.

"Great location…This hotel is located. Close and next to the machu picchu train station. We arrived here by Peru rail, which wa"

This hotel is conveniently located right next to the Machu Picchu train station, which made our arrival by Peru Rail very enjoyable. The reception staff kindly helped us store our bags since our rooms were not ready yet, as we went on the Machu Picchu trek and returned later. However, I was surprised to find that our room did not have the bathtub I had requested. On our return, the experience was disappointing — Stephanie at reception left without offering a solution, and the hotel does not have any rooms with bathtubs. Instead, they have a spa, but it is quite expensive: $60 just to use the sauna and hot pool, which I found unreasonable. The spa also lacked a proper check-in system — I visited twice and was told casually by the manager Mirian that it closes at 7:30 pm, and they charge $140 for treatments. On the positive side, Anthony from the staff was exceptional — very outgoing, customer-focused, and always ready to help. He even brought us an electric kettle when requested. The hotel’s location is fantastic — the market, train, and bus stations are all very close. Although the street outside is narrow, it is wheelchair accessible thanks to a ramp, and the lobby is nice. Breakfast was excellent with fresh cut fruits, juices, breads, dried fruits, and beverages. Edward was very welcoming and even served me fresh avocado. Another staff member, Solis, was very helpful and warmed my croissant with great care. One small tip: walls are not soundproof here, so if you’re sensitive to noise, bring earplugs — a small investment that will greatly improve your stay.

"Disappointing"

A bit disappointing as a hotel. The location is definitely its best feature — very central, close to the bus stop for Machu Picchu, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and an artisan market nearby. However, the services, the room, and the breakfast don’t quite live up to what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel. Since we stayed here as part of a multi-city tour, I’m not sure about the nightly price, but perhaps it’s cheaper than typical 4-star rates — though I can’t confirm that.

The best Machu Picchu experience, thanks to Carlos Felipa and Carlos Chea!!! Highly recommended 100000%! One of the most unforgettable memories I’m taking from Peru 🇵🇪. Thank you so much for all the empathy, attention, and the best service ever!

"Hotel fine, room a bit less"

Aguas Calientes is accessible by train and quite touristy, which makes sense as it’s the gateway to Machu Picchu. El MaPi hotel is very nice with a well-maintained, attractive appearance and extremely friendly service. However, some areas are a bit disappointing, particularly the bathroom, which feels old and worn. The hotel’s location is convenient for departing to Machu Picchu. Breakfast was very generous.

"Convenient Location"

We stayed here for one night, and the highlight was definitely the location — just a short uphill walk from the train station and the Machu Picchu bus stop. The room itself was quite small, noticeably smaller than other hotels we stayed at in Peru. As others have mentioned, the area is noisy, so be prepared for that if you’re a light sleeper.

El MaPi Hotel by Inkaterra

Modern design, organic gastronomy, and vibrant communal areas. Offers complimentary breakfast, café, bar, and shuttle to the train station—noted for great value in its class.
