I was scheduled for a tour in four days, but due to civil unrest in Peru and government travel advisories, I asked the company if it was still safe. They couldn't guarantee safety, yet refused a refund. Feels like they prioritize money over customer well-being. Be cautious.

My experience with Tierras Vivas was somewhat disappointing. During the pre-hike meeting the night before our trek, we discovered that the tour representative actually worked for a different company. Additionally, our guide seemed unaware that we had booked the tour through Tierras Vivas, which created confusion right from the start.

I booked a tour a month in advance, but less than 12 hours before departure, they canceled it. They only offered a tour days later, which didn’t fit my Machu Picchu trek. No effort to help rebook elsewhere—just told me and left. Very disappointing.

Our tour included hotels, Sacred Valley, Inca Trail, and Machu Picchu. From airport pickup delays and unclear briefings to late pickups and missing permits, the trip was stressful and disorganized. Staff pressured us for tips and payment despite prior arrangements. The destinations were amazing, but Tierras Vivas was a letdown. Would not recommend.

Throughout the trip, the Tierras Vivas team stayed in touch via WhatsApp, providing timely updates and instructions. Transfers, especially from Ollantaytambo to Cusco, were well-organized and comfortable. The Inca Jungle Trek is a great alternative to the traditional trail—perfect for adventure lovers with biking, rafting, and ziplining included. Accommodations on the first two nights are basic, so don’t expect luxury, but overall, the experience was smooth and enjoyable. I highly recommend Tierras Vivas for their communication, reliability, and value.
"Mixed Experience – Beware of Return Transport Scam"
I booked a day trip to Machu Picchu with this agency. Everything started well – private vehicle to Ollantaytambo, smooth train, and a great guide, Samuel, who stayed positive throughout. However, the return was awful. Despite paying for a private transfer back to Cusco, they tried to put me on a public bus. I felt cheated. Sadly, it seems common for some agencies in Cusco to cut corners like this. Make sure everything is confirmed in writing to avoid disappointment.
"Disappointing Experience – Not as Advertised"
We booked the Palcoyo Mountain tour in July 2024. While breakfast was good with hot drinks, lunch was disappointing—no drinks provided, not even water. I had to carry 2.5L myself, which was essential for avoiding dehydration at high altitude. Despite being one of the more expensive options, the tour didn’t include everything advertised. We didn’t visit the stone forest or the Palcoyo village/community as promised. There's a clear lack of transparency in the tour description. You can find cheaper operators offering the same (or better) service—be cautious.
