"Hmmmmm maybe not"
This was our first attempt at a villa-style vacation, though not entirely traditional since it was part of a larger complex and we opted for the B&B option. At first glance, the property appeared immaculate and well maintained, with friendly staff creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, it soon became clear that the villa service was limited to once a week. In our case, it took four days before towels were replaced and floors were cleaned. While the young lady who handled the service was thorough and pleasant, the infrequent towel change was disappointing. The pool was also serviced on the same day, but unfortunately, a storm the following day left the pool and patio area unusable. When we requested an additional cleaning, the response was dismissive: “Doubtful as there are 90 villas with the same issue.” This lack of empathy left our last day spoiled. To add to the frustration, a late checkout was not possible, as they needed to prepare the villa for the next guests. We fully understand that the weather is beyond anyone’s control, but the indifference shown was poor in our view. The villa itself was decent—slightly dated but well-equipped for a self-catering stay. The private pool, though more rundown than others in the complex, was still functional—unless, of course, storms intervene.
"Bahiazul Resort"
This resort is impressively large, spacious, and very clean. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with plenty of variety to suit all tastes. The rooms were beautiful, spotless, and even came with the convenience of a parking space right outside the door. There’s also a charming little gym equipped with nearly everything you might need for a workout. What really stood out was the kindness and inclusivity of the staff, who made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. Overall, a perfect resort experience that we would happily return to.
"Great report, shame about the ongoing refurb work"
The villa and pool were both excellent, and the buffet was of very good quality. However, we were disappointed to discover refurbishment work taking place in the villa opposite. Although it was mostly quiet, our car was blocked at one point due to a crane parked in the road to deliver a new hot tub. This kind of work really feels like it should be scheduled for the off-season, and it was frustrating that we weren’t informed about it either at the time of booking or during check-in.
"Nice but not wow and definitely not 5 star"
This resort has both good and bad points. We did enjoy our holiday, but it certainly wasn’t the “wow” experience we had hoped for, and the advertised 5-star standard does not compare with other Canary Island hotels we’ve visited. The biggest disappointment for our family was the pool area. The iconic palm tree featured in photos and social media posts was missing, replaced by a dirty tub with dead sticks, which looked dreadful. While I understand a tree can die, I feel a more attractive replacement could have been provided with little effort. When I contacted reception, I was told we could not move villas, and when I later followed up by email, the response was that trees and plants are not listed as villa features on their website—so guests shouldn’t assume they will be there. Another letdown was the pool cleanliness. A green dirt line ran around the water’s edge, which I was able to wipe off with a cloth, proving it was a cleaning issue rather than staining. The hot tub had a similar orange line, also removable, yet even after cleaning days, both remained, leaving them looking unappealing. Rooms and pools are only cleaned every fourth day, which felt poor value for the high cost of the holiday—I would expect at least every second day. The villa itself was spacious, cool, and equipped with a comfortable bed and a well-stocked kitchen. However, it was in need of significant maintenance, with cracked tiles, paint damage, and bathrooms that felt very dated. Bedrooms 2 and 3 also have open-plan en-suites, meaning there’s no door for privacy when using the toilet, which my teenagers found awkward. On the positive side, the staff were all lovely—friendly, helpful, and welcoming—and the food was excellent, with plenty of variety. Choosing half-board was a good decision. In summary, while we appreciated the space, comfort, and staff, the resort is showing signs of deterioration and needs investment to bring it up to true 5-star standards. Having stayed at Baobab Suites in Tenerife, which I highly recommend, I can say we would not return to Bahiazul.
"Beautiful hotel but rooms need a little TLC"
I was a little concerned before arriving after reading some of the reviews, but overall, we had a lovely stay. The welcome and kindness of the staff were excellent, and both the breakfast and the few evening meals we tried were delicious. Having our own pool and Jacuzzi in the villa was such a treat, and the villa itself was clean, spacious, and well-equipped—perfect for a chilled week in the sun. The two-bedroom premium garden villa gave us plenty of living space for three people. For dining out, I’d highly recommend the Ugly Duckling, just a 10-minute walk away. Getting into the town centre was easy too, with taxis quickly arranged by the hotel and picking us up right at our villa. That said, there were some areas for improvement. Since there’s no communal bathroom, each one is attached to a bedroom, which created some challenges for us as a group of three. The second bedroom could only be accessed via the pool area, which felt unsafe on wet floors, so our single traveller had to take the larger main bedroom. The smaller bedroom, shared by the other two of us, had an open-plan toilet and shower with no door, which wasn’t ideal. The shower here also drained slowly, ventilation was poor, and condensation built up overnight, which wasn’t great for my asthma. On our last morning, we also noticed ants. The bathrooms and bedrooms in particular feel dated and in need of refurbishment. While I did receive an apology when I raised these issues, it seemed like recurring feedback. Despite these drawbacks, I would definitely return, though next time I’d aim for a refurbished villa. The positives—especially the staff and private pool—outweighed the negatives and made it a very enjoyable holiday overall.
"Bad treatmant"
Having returned to Bahiazul for the second time, we expected to feel valued as returning guests, but sadly this was not the case. Management allowed building work to take place in the villa right next to ours without giving us any notice. Two builders, with T-shirts wrapped around their faces, began grinding concrete and old paint from the adjacent pool, sending dangerous airborne dust into the air and covering our pool and terrace area. Concerned for both our health and theirs, I asked them to stop, which they did—until we received a call from reception telling us the work had to be completed before 4 p.m. This forced us to retreat inside the villa due to the dust and noise. Unfortunately, the next day the disruption continued, this time with strong paint fumes as the builders started painting. Once again, we had to stay indoors, unable to enjoy our villa or pool. For guests who were told they were “special returning customers,” this treatment felt extremely disappointing and dismissive. What should have been a relaxing holiday was spoiled by poor management decisions and a lack of consideration for guest wellbeing.
"Reasonable, food temperature in restaurant needs to be addressed."
We stayed at Bahiazul in April 2025, booking with TUI and enjoying a smooth private transfer—just 35 minutes from the airport. Our villa was a Premier Garden Villa (https://www.bahiazul.com/en/our-villas/villa-premier-garden-36285/ ), which was lovely and comfortable overall. While the rooms could benefit from a fresh coat of paint, we did notice maintenance staff decorating other villas, so I’m sure updates are ongoing. The kitchen was well equipped, Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and although we had a small issue with the hot water, it was resolved quickly by the helpful staff. Cleaning is only carried out once a week, so you’ll need to stock up on basics like toilet paper at one of the nearby supermarkets. On the positive side, all the staff were excellent—friendly, polite, and always ready to help. A special mention goes to Pablo in the restaurant for his outstanding service. The main issue for us was the food. The variety was very good, particularly at breakfast, but it was consistently not warm enough. Even after mentioning it to staff, nothing changed, and it was clear the food was not being maintained at the required 60 degrees. This really does need addressing, as it let down what was otherwise a great dining experience. A few other things worth noting: the evenings on the island can be chilly, and the wind is strong—so bring a jumper. It’s about a 40-minute walk into town from the resort, which we enjoyed, but the pavements in that direction are in poor condition and would be difficult for wheelchairs. Thankfully, two well-stocked supermarkets are just a short walk away. Overall, a comfortable stay with great staff, but food temperature must be improved to match the otherwise high standards.
"Holiday spoilt by noise"
We stayed as two adult couples in a three-bedroom villa over Christmas. The main bedroom and living area were fabulous—very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The pool area, while private and a great spot to relax, was in need of some attention as the paint was crumbling. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choices and high-quality food. The staff were very friendly, and a special mention goes to security, who always greeted us with a big smile. The villa is about a 30-minute walk into town, but the hotel readily called taxis, which arrived quickly and cost around 7 euros. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by ongoing noise issues. The second couple initially stayed in bedroom three (double), but the constant noise from hot tub workings in the neighboring villa kept them awake. Reception assured us it should be switched off at 8 pm, but it wasn’t. Security came out on the second night to help, yet the issue persisted. By the third night, we had to move them to bedroom two (twin), after further complaints. Even then, the noise returned, and on the final night, we were told it was caused by another neighboring villa. Four nights out of seven were disrupted, with security having to intervene twice. For the £6,000 we paid, it was unacceptable to endure such repetitive disturbances when all we wanted was restful sleep. It’s a real shame, as the villa itself and the staff were wonderful, but the noise issues spoiled what should have been a relaxing Christmas holiday and have put us off returning.
"Maravilloso"
What truly made our stay special was the wonderful attention from the staff, especially in reception and the restaurant-bar. I cannot wait to return. The renovated villas were delightful—spacious, beautifully designed, and offering plenty of privacy without any hassle. This is definitely a place I will come back to without hesitation. A big thank you again to the reception team, especially the Asturian staff who manage the space with such care. Thoughtful details were present everywhere, making this holiday truly memorable.
"Week in the sun"
We stayed in a superior two-bedroom garden villa, which was very clean and offered plenty of space for four adults. The living area was large and comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. The main bedroom, just off the living room, was spacious with lots of wardrobe space, while the bathroom was fine but in need of some updating. The third bedroom, however, was quite small with limited storage, and although it had a separate shower and toilet, the lack of a toilet door meant no privacy. The private pool and surrounding area were spotless, but the painted white flooring became extremely slippery when wet, as did the steps up to the sunroof, which also had no handrails. The rooftop itself was clean and tidy, with great features including seating, a Jacuzzi, a barbecue area, and a Bali-style bed, but again, the surface was hazardous when wet. On a positive note, the complex overall was very clean and well maintained. Both the buffet breakfast and evening meals were varied and tasty, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The location is practical too—a 35-minute walk or a €7 taxi into Corralejo, and just a 5-minute walk to nearby supermarkets. Suggestion to management: Please install visible “Slippery Surface When Wet” signs and consider adding handrails to the steps for safety.
"Didn’t live up to expectations."
We stayed in a Club Villa with a heated pool over Christmas. The location is quite remote, with the nearest town and restaurants at least a 45-minute walk away, though there are two large supermarkets just five minutes from the resort. A taxi to Corralejo is around €8, which is definitely the easier option. The villa itself was spacious but unfortunately very tired and outdated inside, in real need of renovation. It looked very different from the glossy pictures shown on Instagram or the holiday company’s website. The heated pool we paid extra for was only set at 26°C, which still felt cold in December, and because the sun never reached the pool, it wasn’t enjoyable. The Wi-Fi didn’t connect in the child’s bedroom, and the layout of the villa was impractical—bedrooms are not interconnected, meaning that when staying with children you have to leave patio doors unlocked for access to the main living area. This not only felt like a security concern but also posed a health and safety risk, as the unlocked doors opened straight out to the pool. On the positive side, the buffet had a good selection at breakfast, and the evening meals were generally good by buffet standards. The staff were exceptional throughout our stay—friendly, hardworking, and attentive. On Christmas Day, the restaurant looked beautifully decorated, and the team put in great effort. However, for the €140 per person charge (including for our child), the food was disappointing. There was no traditional English-style Christmas dinner option, which really let the occasion down for us. Externally, the resort is well maintained, and the staff are excellent, but sadly our villa didn’t live up to the price paid or our expectations, and Christmas Day felt like poor value.
"January break"
We had an excellent stay and found everything to be spotlessly clean and well kept. The food was fantastic, with options to suit everyone—I defy anyone to leave hungry! As someone who is gluten free, I really appreciated the extra care taken, including providing a brand-new toaster just for me. The villa itself had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The pool water was pleasantly warm, and the Jacuzzi was excellent. Overall, I would definitely return, as the positives far outweighed any small issues. The only downsides were safety and bathroom design. The area around the pool, stairs, and roof was very slippery when wet and would benefit from a gritty surface to make it safer to walk on. In addition, the en-suite bathrooms could use a refurbishment and ideally should include a door for added privacy. Despite these minor points, our holiday was thoroughly enjoyable, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.
