"Keep looking"

The hotel staff were exceptionally kind and professional, with the front desk attentive and the doorman especially helpful. Unfortunately, the room we stayed in was very small, had an unpleasant mildew smell, and offered a poor view. The restaurant experience was disappointing, with uncoordinated service resulting in dishes arriving at different times—or in one case, being forgotten entirely. Dinner quality was below expectations, featuring a limited and incoherent menu alongside a sparse wine selection, far from what one anticipates from a Relais & Châteaux property. Breakfast, however, was very good. Additional drawbacks included a garage located 300 meters away with no valet service and a poorly maintained rooftop terrace, where wet towels were left unattended despite staff presence.

"Five star luxury in a boutique hotel in the Gothic Quarter."

Service at the hotel was professional, courteous, and attentive throughout our stay. Thomas was particularly helpful, ensuring smooth arrivals and departures. The food was outstanding, with breakfast being a highlight. The tray of fresh bread, fruit, and yogurt, accompanied by eggs and an open-faced Iberian ham sandwich, was delicious. Dinner was equally impressive, offering high-quality dishes that made each evening memorable. The facilities perfectly blend modern luxury with the charm of an old palace. The shower was excellent, towels thick and soft, and the bedding very comfortable, ensuring restful nights. Overall, an exceptional experience that combines elegance, comfort, and top-notch service.

"4 nights in Barcelona"

We had a wonderful stay in Barcelona. The front desk staff were exemplary—kind, helpful, and attentive. Our room was very comfortable and spotless. The only minor challenge was transport during busy times for those with mobility issues, but the staff did their utmost to assist. Fabulous stay in an excellent location!

"Great location, poor staff"

The hotel has a fantastic location and the facilities are good, but the staff fell short of expectations. From reception to the restaurant, the level of service did not match what is expected at this price point. I strongly suggest investing in staff training to bring service up to the standard of similar hotels.

"Lovely accommodation, average restaurant"

This is a fabulous little hotel in a very special location—just steps from the cathedral and other major attractions, yet offering a peaceful retreat. The staff were helpful and informative, and we thoroughly enjoyed our spacious room. The only drawback was the restaurant: both dinner and breakfast were disappointing, with orders often mixed up or incorrect. Despite this, we would absolutely recommend staying here—just plan to dine elsewhere.

"Beautiful Hotel, but Service and Food Fell Short"

Hotel Neri has a stunning location and the property itself is beautiful. However, we found the food lacking in flavor and choice. Breakfast offered very limited options, with no real choice of fruit or juice, and only two other items could be selected. Most staff were lovely, but a few in the bar came across as sharp and condescending. We were promised a surprise for our celebration, which never materialized. Overall, the hotel felt somewhat pretentious, as if guests were expected to accept what was given rather than be accommodated. Considering the price, we would not return. For comparison, Hotel Royal Passeig de Gracia offered a better room, view, and hospitality for less money.

"Lovely hotel with nice staff in a great location"

Overall, this hotel is lovely. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the beds very comfortable. The extra bed for our child was great—a real mattress, not a cot. The tub/shower combo can be tricky to access, so request a walk-in shower if mobility is a concern. The lobby has a strong floral/perfume scent, which may not appeal to everyone. The rooftop is a lovely spot to relax, and the pool is cute, though more suited for dipping feet than swimming. The staff were friendly, helpful, and clearly wanted to make our stay enjoyable. The only disappointment was breakfast—it was minimal, with a small fruit selection, cold eggs, and an uninspiring bread basket, unlike other excellent Spanish breakfasts. The location, however, is excellent and very convenient.

"Relais Chateau???"

The hotel’s location in the heart of the Gothic Quarter is incredible, and the staff were excellent. The on-site restaurant and bar are convenient and well-run. However, our room had a lingering smell of smoke from a previous guest, and the shower leaked, flooding the bathroom. We also had to remind staff to apply a promised restaurant discount at check-out and to replenish amenities during our stay. Overall, the property may feel like a four-star hotel, but it comes at a five-star price.

"Don’t stay at this hotel!"

What the hotel website doesn’t mention is that the plaza they showcase is directly in front of an elementary school. During school sessions, children and parents flood the area early in the morning and around 5 pm. On the night we checked in, the plaza hosted a live band and DJ for a couple hundred people, with soundcheck starting at 4:30 pm and the party ending at 11:15 pm. The noise was overwhelming, yet the hotel staff offered no assistance or apology. When we expressed our frustration, we were told we could only speak to the manager on Monday—despite it being Friday. Service overall was poor, the coffee was awful, and the pillows were uncomfortable. It’s hard to see how this property qualifies for a Relais & Châteaux rating. Additionally, the surrounding Gothic Quarter felt unsafe, with graffiti and many homeless people. We would not recommend staying here.

"Thomas the face of Hotel Neri"

From the moment we arrived, Thomas welcomed us with genuine enthusiasm and joy. He went above and beyond, explaining the property, arranging a taxi, waking us to meet it, and helping us settle into our room—all while remembering our names and sharing amusing stories. His dedication extended to all guests, and it was remarkable to watch him attend to everyone with the same care. Impressively, he speaks roughly six different languages. Our stay, though brief, was made truly memorable thanks to Thomas and the kind gentleman who assisted us with our 6 a.m. taxi, likely working the night shift. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made a lasting impression. We look forward to returning to Barcelona and hope to stay at Hotel Neri again.

"Hotel Neri"

Our friends and I booked two rooms and were supposedly upgraded. However, my “deluxe” room was about one-third smaller than my friends’ room. It had only a desk and two hard chairs, whereas their room was significantly larger, with plenty of walking space, a large sofa, and a desk with a chair. We paid the same amount. When we raised this, the hotel acknowledged the difference but said it was just “the way it was.” A highlight of our stay was Thomas, the bellman, who was extremely helpful with luggage, directions, and restaurant recommendations. Thanks to him, our experience was very enjoyable. The food at the hotel was excellent. One of the restaurants offered a delicious and interesting menu, and breakfast was also very good. Just be aware that room sizes can vary even within the same category.

"Excellent location, nice rooms, but terrible front desk/concierge"

This boutique hotel is lovely, with a great location just steps from the cathedral. The rooms and bathrooms are pleasant, and the interior and lobby are chic. Breakfast service was excellent, with the staff providing friendly and attentive service. However, the front desk and concierge were disappointing. They struggled with basic questions, such as directions to Montjuïc’s cable car or information about the dancing fountain show, which is currently suspended. Attempts to book a train revealed a significant overcharge, which I had to correct myself. While COVID-19 may affect some services, these are fundamental questions that should be handled accurately. Overall, a stylish stay in a prime location, but front desk and concierge services need significant improvement.
