"Very disappointed"

Check-in felt cold and mechanical, lacking any warmth or friendliness. Rooms on the first floor were noisy, with footsteps from above easily heard. Breakfast was frustrating—on Saturday, it wasn’t available before 8:30 a.m. and only started at 8:45 a.m., which is inconvenient for early plans. Overall, there are far better options in Barcelona for the same price.

"Stop searching. Book Brummell – You will not be disappointed."

Hotel Brummell perfectly blends sophistication with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The serene terrace and attentive staff immediately put us at ease, and our out-of-hours arrival was handled seamlessly. Our room overlooking the street was ideal, while breakfast, served in a boutique outdoor space, impressed with fresh pastries from the Funky Bakers next door and a delightful selection of local cheeses and meats. The hotel’s stylish design, warm hospitality, and prime location in Poble-sec—a vibrant neighborhood with a great local vibe and fantastic bars and restaurants—make it a standout choice for a Barcelona stay. Don’t miss the walk up Montjuïc for incredible city views, and hop on the cable car to reach the excellent Restaurante Margarit. Stop searching—Hotel Brummell is the place to stay.

"Mixed bag"

My stay at this hotel was a mixed experience. The Penthouse Room is impressive—the terrace and views are fantastic, quiet, and private—but the room itself felt small for the high price. The hotel’s main pool is very tiny, limiting its appeal. Unfortunately, the neighborhood feels run-down in areas, with noticeable dirt and pigeons, which made me a little uneasy. Some staff were unfriendly and even borderline rude. During check-in, a manager interrupted a colleague abruptly, standing uncomfortably close while mentioning possible repair noise that wasn’t even happening. A photo shoot next to reception further disrupted the process, and breakfast seating was often blocked by people lingering for hours with laptops. Additionally, there was a large dog in the kitchen at breakfast, which could be off-putting for some. The breakfast itself is decent but overpriced, and some items like pastries cost extra. Overall, while the hotel has potential with its chic rooms and rooftop terrace, service, neighborhood, and management issues detract significantly from the experience.

"Average neighborhood but nice hotel…"

This hotel offers comfortable rooms and a nice welcome, conveniently located near the subway with paid parking nearby. However, guests should note that vehicle registration on the ZBE Barcelona Metropolis (camera-controlled low-emission zone) is required—a detail not communicated at booking. The surrounding neighborhood is fairly average, with few quality restaurants or bars for an evening out. Breakfast, priced at €19, is rather expensive and nothing special. Overall, the hotel is suitable for travelers looking for a practical base rather than a vibrant local experience.

"Great boutique hotel. More like a 3 star than 4 star."

This hotel offers a no-fuss, minimalist style that some may find more 3-star than 4-star. The mountain view room on the 4th floor provides a calming experience with the neighborhood sounds of parrots and doves adding to the charm. Croissants at the bakery are excellent, made with quality French butter, and even the vending machine items are thoughtfully selected. A few drawbacks: remodeling on the 1st floor near the kitchen from 3pm to 8pm made it difficult to relax in the lobby, and this wasn’t mentioned at check-in. Additionally, bathroom reminder cards about conserving water and energy, paired with thin toilet paper, feel slightly at odds with the hotel’s comfort expectations for its price point. Despite these minor issues, the hotel’s relaxed atmosphere and quality basics make it worth considering for future stays in Barcelona.

"Hard beds!"

This hotel is wonderfully located in Barcelona, within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and major tourist sites. The small, cozy property is beautifully decorated, and both the breakfast and dinner we had were enjoyable. The staff at the front desk were friendly, helpful, and spoke excellent English, making our stay welcoming. However, the beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Despite loving nearly everything else about the hotel, the discomfort of the beds left us waking up sore each morning, which was very disappointing. While the location, service, and atmosphere were excellent, the poor bed quality means we would not return.

"A boutique hotel in Poble Sec"

Located in the vibrant and fast-growing Poble Sec neighborhood, this hotel offers easy access to tapas bars, Montjuïc, and even the airport. From the moment you arrive, the hotel’s tasteful and original design impresses, and the staff’s warmth and attentiveness make you feel truly welcome. My double room was immaculate and thoughtfully equipped with all comforts—fridge, TV, table and chair, balcony, and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom featured a delightful shower, adding to the overall sense of comfort. Breakfast is a highlight, with a delicious selection of sweet and savory options of excellent quality. Additional amenities like the honesty bar, a small swimming pool, and a sauna further enhance the stay. A hotel well worth returning to.

"Price is high for the area and amenities"

This is a very small, clean, and trendy hotel with a tiny pool and a sauna that accommodates only two people at a time. The rooms lack balconies, and the on-site restaurant is not affiliated with the hotel, so meals cannot be charged to your room. The staff were very friendly and helpful, providing excellent service despite the limitations. However, the surrounding area is not particularly appealing, with dirty streets and an abundance of similar restaurants offering limited variety. Considering the low amenities and small size of the facilities, the room price feels quite high for the value provided. This hotel may appeal to those prioritizing style and cleanliness, but the overall experience does not match the cost.

"should be called a hotel appartment"

I’m surprised by some of the positive reviews for this hotel. I stayed for six nights on my second visit to Barcelona, and honestly, I wouldn’t have chosen it if it weren’t for the non-refundable booking. Here’s my experience: The hotel feels more like a serviced apartment than a proper hotel. There’s no room service beyond cleaning. Coffee and tea facilities are shared on the floor, and there are no basic toiletries or slippers provided. Room amenities are very minimal. The location isn’t ideal. The nearest metro is about a 7-minute walk, and the street the hotel is on feels dead. Other Barcelona hotels have similar metro access but better surroundings. Overall, it’s not good value for money. Cheaper hotels in better locations offer more amenities. We booked through the hotel website, which promised a half-day free bike rental and a free yoga class. Neither was offered during our stay. The staff are friendly, but there’s little they can help you with without additional charges. We didn’t try the restaurant much. When we wanted lunch in the room, we were told we had to eat downstairs—room service isn’t available. All in all, I wouldn’t choose this hotel for a future visit to Barcelona unless the price was significantly lower.

"Hotel with good atmosphere"

This brilliant little hotel, slightly outside the city center yet still conveniently located, offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, making every guest feel at home. Breakfast is a treat, featuring fresh baked goods from the hotel’s own bakery. We stayed in one of the two penthouses and enjoyed stunning views over the Montjuïc park area. The surrounding neighborhood is perfect for walks and training, adding to the overall charm and appeal of this delightful hotel.

"Nice location, good food"

Overall, this hotel offers a pleasant stay with very clean rooms, comfy beds and pillows, and exceptionally friendly staff. The on-site restaurant is excellent, though it is closed on Mondays, and the website for Brummel Kitchen doesn’t work properly, so plan accordingly. One area for improvement is soundproofing—being a small hotel, noise from corridors and elevator areas can easily be heard in guest rooms. Some signage encouraging quiet in the hallways could enhance the overall experience. Despite this, the hotel’s charm, comfort, and attentive service make it a solid choice in Poble Sec.

"Kitchen faux pas"

This is a great little hotel in Barcelona with a convenient location and very friendly staff. My husband and I stayed here twice during our summer vacation and appreciated its ability to cater to a vegan diet. The vegan breakfast option was excellent, although the kitchen made a mistake on the second day by serving real milk instead of oat milk, which caused discomfort. The rooms are very small and a bit pricey for their size, and unfortunately, the hotel did not compensate for the breakfast error, which was disappointing given the rate. Overall, it’s a charming hotel with attentive staff, but attention to dietary requests and value for money could be improved.
