"Beautiful Hotel with Slight Booking Issue"

The Shangri-La, Bangkok is a stunning hotel. We were warmly welcomed with a delicious drink and smoothly taken to check-in. Unfortunately, a miscommunication regarding our room rate prevented a perfect experience, which is why I rated it “good” rather than “excellent.”

"Fantastic Stay with Beautiful River Views"

I’d give this hotel 5 stars all around. The location is convenient, the rooms are nice, and the staff are exceptionally helpful—I would absolutely stay here again. The river view from the Krungthep Wing was stunning. While it’s true the property is older, everything was clean, well-maintained, and the staff made the stay exceptional. The breakfast buffet was a highlight of my trip—absolutely fantastic. My only regret was not having it included with my room, as I enjoyed it every morning.

"Disappointing Experience with Reception and Charges"

We stayed for seven nights and were very disappointed. We left clothes with the reception staff, clearly instructing them and writing down the laundry company’s name, yet they sent the laundry to the hotel laundromat and charged us anyway. CCTV even shows us handing over the note and explaining the instructions. The hotel called it a “miscommunication,” but the instructions were clear and written. They eventually reduced the charge by 25%, but it still came to 1,500 Bhat, which feels unreasonable. Additionally, our room bed configurations were incorrect on the first night, and the front desk was unhelpful when we requested assistance—forcing an awkward situation with sleeping arrangements. Overall, the experience was frustrating and poorly handled.

"Convenient and Enjoyable Stay in Bangkok"

If you’re traveling to Bangkok, I highly recommend this hotel. It’s conveniently located next to a subway station, water bus stops, and the boat stop for the Peninsula, making getting around the city very easy. The outdoor pool is large and perfect for swimming, and the hotel buffet was delicious. A great choice for both convenience and comfort.

"Disappointing Stay at Shangri-La Bangkok"

Upon check-in, our room smelled strongly of vomit. After reporting it to the front desk, we were told the floor was being repainted, and it took an hour to receive a new room. The room itself was outdated, with only one working outlet, and the bathroom and hallways were also dated. The hotel’s restaurants were disappointing, either due to poor food, bad service, or both. The surrounding area felt messy, and the staff—particularly at the front desk and concierge—were rude. Based on this experience, I would not book at Shangri-La Bangkok again.

"Lovely Stay with Exceptional Amenities and a Minor Misstep"

Overall, we had a great stay at this hotel. It exudes old-world luxury, with a fantastic lobby bar featuring cabaret-style music and a wide variety of cocktails. The pool and its attentive staff were definite highlights. Access to the Horizon Lounge for breakfast and Happy Hour was also enjoyable. However, on our last morning, we experienced an unfortunate moment in the Horizon Lounge. Dressed casually for travel, we were met with judgment from a staff member who questioned our room number and previous visits, making us feel out of place—a contrast to the otherwise friendly and professional staff we had encountered throughout our stay. Other than this minor incident, the overall experience was lovely, and it remains a great hotel.

"Convenient Riverside Location"

Located on the Chao Phraya River, the hotel offers easy access to Iconsiam and other nearby attractions, making it very convenient for travelers.
