"I love it"

The resort offers a pleasant atmosphere, comfortable rooms, and generally friendly staff, making for an enjoyable stay. The overall service is good, and I particularly appreciated Khun Earn, who personally assisted in returning items I had left behind—a thoughtful touch. However, the breakfast was underwhelming, lacking variety and creativity for a resort of this standard. Additionally, there seemed to be a difference in treatment between Anantara Vacation Club (AVC) guests and regular hotel guests. Despite being a GHA Discovery Titanium member, certain benefits did not apply, such as a fixed 12:30 pm check-out on Sunday, which felt restrictive compared to other 5-star properties that typically offer more flexibility. Overall, a comfortable stay with friendly staff, but some areas could be improved to match the resort’s high standard.

"Style above substance"

While the hotel is visually stunning, with beautiful ornamental ponds and meticulously landscaped grounds, it unfortunately falls short of five-star expectations. Having stayed at the Anantara in Chiang Mai prior to this visit, the difference in service levels was noticeable. The property lacks a comfortable, air-conditioned bar area for socializing, which limits guest interaction. Although the hotel and pool areas were clean and well-maintained, smaller details let the experience down—shampoo and milk were not regularly replenished in the room, breakfast orders were occasionally incorrect, and requests for medical cold packs were mishandled. Additionally, the breakfast selection was limited compared to other five-star resorts we have visited. Overall, while the resort offers a beautiful and serene environment, attention to detail and service consistency need improvement to truly deliver a luxury five-star experience.

"Beautiful place, but bad restaurant Guilty"

We are a group of four friends who returned to Anantara Koh Samui with fond memories from ten years ago. The hotel remains as beautiful as ever—the lighting, gardens, and overall ambiance are magical, and the views alone make it worth a visit. We had dinner at the Guilty restaurant, which focuses on Peruvian cuisine. While the service was kind, friendly, and efficient, the food fell far short of expectations. The guacamole, prepared in front of us, was bland, and the ceviche had little resemblance to authentic Peruvian recipes. The fish was slightly soft, the sauce unappetizing, and the baby corn served with one dish was coated in an unpleasant sauce. Despite reporting the issue, we were still charged for the inedible baby corn. The total bill for four people—including a beer and three mineral waters—came to €160, which felt particularly disappointing given the subpar quality of the food. It’s unfortunate that such a luxurious property is let down by its restaurant experience.

"A paradise within paradise"

We had a truly memorable stay—a paradise within paradise. From the moment we arrived, exhausted with two toddlers, we were welcomed with warmth. Sitting in the library with a cup of tea while waiting to check in set the tone for the entire experience. The staff’s attention to detail, clear communication from the reservation onwards, and genuine commitment to making everything run smoothly shone through beautifully. One of the most touching moments was when the kitchen team came to say goodbye and take a photo with our babies—an act that moved us deeply. The atmosphere, thoughtful details, and high-quality offerings, like the delicious banana cake, made us feel cared for. The team also made efforts to accommodate our vegan diet, which we truly appreciated. That said, there is room for improvement with family-friendly vegan options for children. Simple meals for adults work well, but for toddlers, the limited options, occasional undercooked items, and long waits were a challenge. Additionally, the kids’ playroom was closed during breakfast, which would have helped make mornings more manageable. Despite these minor challenges, the kindness, professionalism, and heartfelt service left a lasting impression. With small adjustments, especially around child-friendly vegan options, we would return in a heartbeat. Thank you for making us feel at home in such a beautiful setting.

"Review of Anantara Bophut Koh Samui"

Anantara Bophut Koh Samui boasts a fantastic location, with easy access to the beach and nearby attractions, making it ideal for exploring the area. The hotel itself, however, is showing signs of age. While the rooms are clean, they feel outdated and would benefit from a renovation to bring them up to the standard expected of a luxury resort. A major disappointment was the pool, which was poorly maintained during our stay. For four consecutive days, no cleaning took place, leaving debris and foam floating in the water, making it unappealing and difficult to enjoy. Overall, the resort has tremendous potential. With consistent maintenance and an update to its facilities, Anantara Bophut could provide a much more enjoyable and truly five-star experience.

"My Quintessential White Lotus Experience"

Inspired by the breathtaking scenery, Thai architecture, and temples showcased in Season 3 of White Lotus, I was eager to experience Anantara Bophut in Koh Samui, and the resort largely lived up to its reputation. Designed by landscape architect Bill Bensley, the property combines five-star luxury with exquisite attention to detail—from the grand entrance to the stylish lobby adorned with traditional Thai artwork, dark wood furnishings, and curated displays, every corner exudes elegance. The meticulously landscaped gardens, centered around a stunning lotus pond, and the infinity-style pool seamlessly blending with the beach and sea, provide a serene and photogenic setting. Service at Anantara Bophut was remarkable, with standout team members such as Tommy at Thin Thai restaurant and Khun Sandy at the front office delivering warm, attentive, and personalized care that elevated our stay. The location near Fisherman’s Village is convenient but challenging for guests with mobility concerns, and accessibility could be improved. Dining experiences, including Thin Thai and Guilty, offered creative fusion dishes, though traditional options and breakfast variety were somewhat limited. The pool and spa were highlights, providing relaxation and indulgence, though poolside service and bird management could be better. Housekeeping had some lapses, including minor cleanliness and communication issues, which slightly tarnished an otherwise memorable experience. Despite a few hiccups, the resort’s atmosphere, beauty, and exceptional personal touches made our stay unforgettable—truly a White Lotus-worthy escape.

"Not up to Anantara standards"

This was our third Anantara hotel stay, but unfortunately, this property did not live up to the 5-star standard we’ve come to expect. The location is both a blessing and a curse. While it is close to Fisherman’s Village, bars, restaurants, and the thrice-weekly market, it sits on a noisy, busy, and slightly unpleasant main road lined with cannabis shops and massage parlours. The hotel itself is squeezed into a narrow strip along the road. The beach is small with coarse sand and murky water, though still pleasant enough for a swim. Ko Samui, overall, felt over-touristed and formulaic, and we likely would not return. We had a garden view room with a huge, comfortable bed, but limited outside space apart from a small inward-facing sofa. The gardens are beautiful, well-kept, and even home to kingfishers each morning. Breakfast was good, and the staff were generally nice, with a special thanks to Tam for arranging a Muay Thai lesson, which my husband loved. However, the room had several issues: one bedside table was missing upon arrival, cleaning was late and incomplete, and the outdoor sofa was never cleared of leaves. The pool area, while large and nice, lacked service—no iced water, towel assistance, or reserved loungers—making it crowded and chaotic. Overall, despite some highlights, this Anantara property fell short of expectations and did not justify the 5-star price point.

"Location perfect with a few weaknesses"

Anantara Bophut Koh Samui is superbly located—quiet and serene, yet just a five-minute walk from Fisherman’s Village. The resort complex, including the pool area, is beautifully maintained, almost tropical, with a striking water lily pond at the entrance and a lovely pool setting. Poolside cocktails and food were excellent, though service could be a bit slow, and sunbeds were limited, often fully occupied by late morning. Our deluxe sea-view room was very clean and had a pleasant balcony with a sofa, but it was surprisingly small for a five-star property, especially with two large suitcases. The bathroom was compact and open in design, with frosted glass separating the toilet and shower, meaning sounds and light were noticeable from the bed—an awkward arrangement for couples. Breakfast offered a great selection, but the tables were tightly spaced, and orders often took a long time due to language barriers; one iced latte took 25 minutes and three attempts to arrive. Staff were generally friendly, with James at the pool bar standing out for his humor, helpful cocktail advice, and positive energy. However, communication with other staff could be challenging due to limited English skills. One downside: hotel-arranged taxis seemed overpriced, charging 1,000 THB for a trip we found elsewhere for 400 THB. Overall, the resort is charming and well-positioned with excellent cocktails, though some practical aspects like room size, bathroom privacy, and service efficiency could use attention.

"Friendly staff but noisy premises"

We stayed at this hotel for two nights to be close to Fisherman’s Village, and while the property is aesthetically stunning with quick access to the village, our experience was mixed. The staff were friendly and helpful, which was a highlight. However, our room was on the third floor with no elevator, located on the outer side of the hotel along a very noisy road. Even past midnight, we could hear music, motorbikes, and conversations, which made it difficult for a light sleeper like me to rest. The abundance of water around the hotel attracted many mosquitoes, adding to the discomfort. The beachfront, while scenic, was not ideal for swimming. It was a public area with trash scattered around and locals cooking on the sand, making it less pleasant. Additionally, the door handle in our room was loose, and gaps were visible during the day.
