Chaweng Regent Beach Resort

"Nice but a little disappointing"
We returned to Chaweng Regent for our second visit after staying here for three nights back in 2009. Unfortunately, our experience this time was marred by the ocean-side pool being under renovation, which was a major disappointment as the beach in front is too shallow for swimming. The resort’s location is excellent—close enough to Chaweng’s main area for convenience, yet far enough from the loud music and crowds to enjoy some peace. We stayed in the SpaVilla Suite, which was clean and comfortable, though housekeeping initially cleaned too late in the day. Reception promptly addressed this after we raised it. However, the food this time was lacklustre compared to our memories of previous visits. A complimentary buffet was offered while the pool was out of action, but the quality was only average and didn’t make up for the missing pool. Special thanks to Yao and Pailin at breakfast, and Joe and Vee by the pool—their attentive service truly stood out. While the resort has great potential, the shallow beach, food quality, and pool renovation made it hard to fully enjoy our stay, and we are unsure if we would return.
"Yoga class"
I really enjoyed the yoga class—it was very pleasant and left me feeling refreshed! The instructor was wonderful, with a calm and soothing voice that made the session even more relaxing. I would definitely go again. Thank you!
"Best relaxing holiday ever"
We stayed in a Spa Villa and had a brilliant holiday. The staff were fantastic—friendly, always helpful, and attentive. When our friend experienced a medical emergency, the staff went above and beyond, arranging taxis and assisting us throughout. Special thanks to Dong, the hospitality manager, who always took the time to check on us with a smile, and to the front desk manager for all his support. The location is perfect, close to great eateries, bars, and other attractions. The beachfront pool was beautiful and relaxing. Overall, it was one of the most enjoyable holidays we have had, and we look forward to returning in June 2025.
"Lovely resort in the middle of the action"
Our trip got off to a rocky start when we were initially assigned a very small twin room instead of the king bed we had booked. While the staff quickly corrected it, we were too tired to address the issue that night. The next morning, after contacting our travel agent and speaking with reception, we were moved to a much better room. Once that was sorted, our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. The room was spacious, and the pools were beautiful, with the swim-up bar being a popular highlight. Although it was a relatively quiet period, the pools were busy, and securing a sun lounger could be challenging during peak times, especially when guests reserved loungers and left for long periods. The resort sits right on the beach, though the offshore reef keeps the water shallow at low tide; a short walk down the beach leads to a more open swimming area. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would happily return.
"Buyer beware"
This resort offers beautifully appointed rooms, lush grounds, and an unbeatable location. We stayed in a spa villa suite, which was very expensive, yet we were surprised to pay Perth-level prices for an iced black coffee despite having an “all-inclusive” breakfast. While the property and accommodations are stunning, these unexpected extra costs felt unreasonable given the premium price of the stay.
"Good experience, flat bed."
We stayed at a very nice and clean hotel in Saigon, located in the Cosmoy area. Our arrival was delightful, greeted with a cold towel, ice cream, and a cup of tea. The rooms were very comfortable and well-appointed, though the bed was unusually firm, almost as hard as a rack, which was a bit surprising. Overall, the hotel impressed with its cleanliness, service, and thoughtful touches. While there may be more luxurious options in the city, this hotel offers a very pleasant and memorable stay.
"Too bad about the nice hotel"
This is truly a great hotel, with everything you could want—excellent food, attentive staff, comfortable rooms, and a fantastic location. Unfortunately, our experience was negatively affected by the behavior of other guests. During breakfast, some guests displayed disruptive conduct, which made the stay less enjoyable and ultimately prevented us from considering a future visit. It’s a pity, as the hotel itself is beautifully managed and well-run.
"Lovely resort to stay, beautifully landscaped, friendly staff, clean, right by the sea. Well located"
This resort is beautifully situated, with the beach right on your doorstep and gorgeous pools on site. The property is clean, well-maintained, and the staff are exceptionally friendly, making for a pleasant stay. However, we encountered a few frustrations. At check-in, a deposit was requested, but American Express was not accepted, and our Visa was initially refused due to issues with the payment provider, not the card itself. Paying in cash was possible, but it was disappointing that such a high-end resort didn’t handle this more smoothly. Additionally, arranging a late checkout for just two hours proved problematic, despite our request being made three days in advance. Overall, the resort offers a fantastic location and excellent facilities, but these administrative issues could be improved to match the high standards of the property.
"Could be better"
The resort is located directly on the beach, with the street bustling with restaurants, convenience stores, and massage studios just steps from the entrance. The small beach is pretty, and in theory, you could enjoy both convenience and tranquility. However, the reality is different: the streets are noisy, crowded, and chaotic, with loud traffic, frequent announcements via loudspeakers, nearby cannabis shops, and planes flying overhead depending on the weather. This makes it difficult to relax, and while the location has potential, it feels far from peaceful. The resort itself is in decent condition but shows signs of deferred maintenance and a lack of investment in renovations. Rooms vary greatly in quality: our first room was dark and moldy, while the second was much better, though sea-view rooms are extremely limited. For this reason, room experiences are inconsistent. Pricing is high—around €500/USD/CHF per night—despite airport transfers and complimentary massages for longer stays. While this may reflect high season rates, the value for money is below average. Staff are polite and friendly but often lack competence. Communications before arrival were slow and frustrating, with English language limitations affecting clarity. Breakfast service was chaotic, with slow, inattentive staff, limited coffee availability, and generally poor organization, making the morning experience frustrating. The guest mix can be challenging, with some visitors displaying rowdy behavior and flashy jewelry, which may detract from the overall atmosphere. In summary, the resort has potential and could easily earn a higher rating with improved service, better-maintained facilities, and a more curated guest experience. Currently, it sits at around 3/5.
"Beautiful Resort in good, cozy location Chaweng!"
This is a lovely, spacious resort offering a choice of bungalows and beautifully appointed rooms. The rooms are comfortable, with generous balconies and well-equipped bathrooms. If you prefer peace and quiet, it’s best to avoid rooms facing the pool. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet is extensive and satisfying. Dining at the resort is enjoyable, and stepping outside, you are immediately in a cozy area filled with shops, restaurants, and massage parlors. Nearby, there’s a covered market with affordable Thai restaurants like Green Bird. The narrow beach at the rear of the resort offers options for a relaxed stroll to the left, or a longer walk to the right toward busier resorts with evening fire shows and music at Elephant and Ark bars. The only minor drawback is pool loungers being reserved for long periods, which is common at many resorts; a gentle reminder or signage could help manage this better.
"No sleep"
I would give this resort 4 stars at best. While the staff were lovely, the rooms clean and well-equipped with smart TVs and good internet, and the pool and beach areas are beautiful, our stay was heavily impacted by noise. I struggled to sleep for seven nights, waking between 1 AM and 5 AM due to loud clubs and bars nearby, followed by birds at 6 AM and planes at 7 AM. Our original room was too close to the main road and reception, and unfortunately, there were no quieter rooms available closer to the beach or pool. The hotel did attempt to resolve the issue, eventually moving us to their sister property, Melati, about 20 minutes away. It was far quieter, more peaceful, and felt like paradise, though the shuttle service back to the main strip ended at 4 PM, limiting evening activities. On the positive side, the food by the pool was tasty and affordable, the kids enjoyed the pool, and the location is perfect for those who want to be right on a lively street. With a quieter location near the beach or pool, this resort could be fantastic.
"Great hotel in great location"
The location in Chaweng is excellent, offering both direct beach access and a front-facing cozy shopping street. The rooms are outstanding, equipped with every comfort, and we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary upgrade. The restaurant is decent but could benefit from a thoughtful renovation to enhance the dining experience. The beach is beautiful at low tide, perfect for a stroll, but unfortunately, walking along the sand becomes difficult when the tide is high.
