"Oh dear, what can the matter be? But came good in the end…"

We stayed as a family of three in February 2025 for four nights in the Royal Suite, including a 3-day Cambodian Adventure tour package. From the very start, it felt like the hotel was aiming for the worst review possible. Check-in took over an hour — far too long. Instead of a warm welcome, we were buried in paperwork and vouchers for every meal, spa, and service. This could easily be streamlined at the reservation stage, then reconfirmed on arrival. Our “best in the hotel” room was underwhelming: electrical sockets literally came off the wall during the walkthrough (never fixed), and we returned from dinner one night to find workmen had been inside leaving wet footprints. The pool was too cold to enjoy. Breakfast was another frustration — only minutes before leaving for a tour were we told we could order hot dishes like eggs Benedict. My 6-year-old son had to ask three staff members for a glass of water, which finally arrived in a huge red wine glass. Even meals arranged through the hotel disappointed. Lunch was served all at once, leaving mains cold. Housekeeping left dirty glasses and forgot coffee refills. We raised concerns with management, who apologized but did nothing. At this point, I honestly felt the hotel didn’t deserve its high TripAdvisor service ranking. Dinner on the second night was worse: despite pre-booking at check-in, we waited 45 minutes for bread, which arrived at the same time as the starter. Courses were rushed out in the wrong order, plates weren’t cleared, and other guests who arrived later were served before us. It felt like Restaurant Etiquette 101 had been skipped. To their credit, the hotel waived our drinks bill, but by then morale was low. And then the tide turned. The included tours were exceptional — perfectly balanced, engaging, and led by Som, the best guide we’ve ever had. Our son was so attached he cried when saying goodbye. The hotel’s tour staff (including Yin, who had faced our complaints the night before) were outstanding, even cooking and serving meals during excursions. Their warmth and professionalism gradually restored our trust. In the end, what could have been a 1-star disaster was saved by the tours and staff in the field. I’m giving 4 stars — it could have been 5 with a smoother start and more consistent service. Would we recommend it? Yes, but only if you book the tour package, hope for Som as your guide, and the hotel finally fixes its check-in process and service standards.

"The best Cambodian experience"

This was such a memorable and enjoyable experience, showcasing a variety of traditional Cambodian dances. The performances felt authentic, capturing the diversity of Cambodian culture through music, costumes, and movement — all with a fun and engaging twist. On top of that, the food was delicious and complemented the evening perfectly. A wonderful way to immerse yourself in Cambodian tradition while enjoying a fantastic show and meal!

"Good hotel,lovely staff, bit noisy"

The hotel is very centrally located on Sok San Road, making it perfect for nightlife, but that also means it’s noisy almost all the time. Soundproofing isn’t great, and even with earplugs we found it hard to escape the street noise in our pool-view room. On the plus side, the room was very spacious with a huge, comfortable bed, good choice of pillows, reliable WiFi, and effective A/C. The bathroom was long, though the shower pressure was weak and water wasn’t always hot, especially in the early evening. Breakfast was pleasant in the dining room overlooking the pool, with a good egg station. Happy hour only includes cocktails (a pity cold beers aren’t included), but the Skybar next door offers better deals with great views. The spa’s discounted massage was excellent. The best part of this hotel is definitely the staff—always lovely, welcoming, and a real credit to the place. If constant noise doesn’t bother you, this is a great spot. If you prefer peace and quiet, you might want to stay a bit further out and take a tuk-tuk into the center. And don’t miss the Phare circus—it’s brilliant!

"My favorite stay anywhere in the world — 2 weeks of staycation! Amazing!"

Golden Temple Residence is now officially my favorite hotel ever — and this was my 7th trip to Cambodia! I stayed nearly two weeks in the King Luxury Suite, needing a quiet place to work online, and it turned out to be absolute paradise. The suite was stunning: spacious, spotless, beautifully designed, with every thoughtful detail from mood lighting to a comfortable sofa, minibar, room service, and a gorgeous bathroom. Despite facing the road, it was peaceful and quiet. The WiFi was excellent, which made working easy, yet the setting made it feel like a holiday. The location exceeded my expectations — in a lively area full of affordable restaurants and within walking distance of everything. Even during monsoon season, it was perfect. Service here is second to none. A special thank you to Monica and Harry at the front desk. Monica especially stood out with her warmth, professionalism, and intelligence — qualities I look for in my own staff back home. All the team, from breakfast to housekeeping, were equally kind and attentive. The pool, lush grounds, and delicious breakfast buffet made every day feel special. Honestly, there’s nothing to improve. This is an ideal choice for a honeymoon or long stay alike. Don’t confuse it with other Golden Temple properties — this one is the best. For me, it’s not just the best in Siem Reap, it’s my favorite hotel anywhere in the world.

"Great location and service"

This boutique hotel is set in a busy downtown spot, which makes it convenient but also quite noisy at times. The service was outstanding—we were even treated to a complimentary foot massage while waiting for our room, which was a wonderful touch. Our room was a good size with a spacious en-suite. However, the TV didn’t work, and the WiFi was unreliable. Street-facing rooms can be noisy due to the traffic, which might be a drawback for light sleepers. The small pool area is pleasant but, again, the traffic noise is noticeable. Breakfast and one lunch were included in our stay, and while both were satisfactory, they helped balance the relatively high price point. Overall, this hotel delivers excellent service and comfort, but expect a lively (and sometimes noisy) city-center atmosphere.

"A wonderful stay at Golden Temple"

My family and I spent 3 wonderful nights at Golden Temple Residence, and from the airport welcome to our departure, the hospitality was simply unmatched. The welcome treats — spiced peanuts, banana chips, and refreshing cold teas — were a delight. When the staff noticed my son had a cough, they thoughtfully brought him hot ginger tea. Such care is rare and so appreciated. Every member of the team was incredibly warm and attentive. A special mention goes to Phikun at the front desk, who went above and beyond — even arranging birthday surprises for both my daughter and me. My daughter’s bed was decorated beautifully with balloons and towel art, and we were treated to a fruit cake and staff singing that made our stay unforgettable. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and cozy, with incredibly comfortable beds. Despite the central location near Pub Street and the night market, the hotel was peaceful and quiet, perfect for relaxing. We loved the hours spent just unwinding in our room. We also booked an Angkor Wat tour through the hotel, and our guide, Som, was fantastic — engaging, knowledgeable, and wonderful with kids. His photography tips and photos made our day even more special. At breakfast, Eric and Rin took excellent care of us, always remembering our coffee orders. The breakfast selection was plentiful and delicious, and the coffee was superb! Golden Temple Residence gave us memories we will cherish forever. My whole family was sad to leave, and we can’t wait to return to experience their outstanding hospitality again.

"Stay at Golden Temple when visiting Angkor Wat"

The staff at this hotel were absolutely amazing. Joey and Keah at the front desk stood out for their exceptional helpfulness and friendliness. All of the staff work hard on their English, which makes communication smooth and easy. The hotel is conveniently located near Pub Street and plenty of shopping, making it a great base for exploring Siem Reap. The team quickly felt like friends, always greeting me with smiles when I left for the day and when I returned. The property is clean and well maintained, and the staff go out of their way to assist with booking tuk-tuk drivers and offering tour suggestions. I especially recommend Ol, a tuk-tuk driver arranged through the hotel—he was knowledgeable, polite, and patient during our visit to Angkor Wat. Overall, a wonderful experience made memorable by the genuine warmth and hospitality of the staff.

"Delicious meal , entertaining show"

I attended the show and meal, and it was absolutely brilliant. The surroundings were beautiful, the staff were warm and attentive, and the five-course dinner was both delicious and beautifully presented. Each dish was perfectly matched in flavor, and the cultural show exceeded my expectations, making the whole experience unforgettable. A wonderful evening that I would highly recommend!

"Modern hotel with lovely staff"

We stayed here for just two nights as a base for our trip to Angkor Wat and had a wonderful experience. The hotel arranged collection from the bus stop, and after a quick and easy check-in, we were able to start exploring. Its central location—only a 5-minute walk from Pub Street—made getting around very convenient. The room and public areas, including the pool, were all clean, comfortable, and well maintained. We also booked a tour to Angkor Wat through the hotel reception and were very impressed with the service. Our guide, Chham Chhong, was knowledgeable and engaging, and the trip was well-paced without feeling rushed. A great stay overall and highly recommended if you’re planning to explore Siem Reap and the temples.

"Good shows and meal"

We tried both the Khmer set and the Western set, and both were excellent 👍. The beef and chicken dishes were especially tasty. In addition, the show was very attractive, and we really enjoyed experiencing the traditional Cambodian culture. Overall, it was a delightful evening!
