The Pierre, A Taj Hotel, New York

"Great hotel"
The hotel is truly great, with a superb location and excellent service throughout. The concierge team was especially lovely and made the stay memorable. However, I did find the front desk to be a bit less welcoming than expected, which felt unusual for a property like The Pierre.
"Just too dated"
I stayed at The Pierre as a Virtuoso guest prior to embarking on a SilverSea cruise, and it was disappointing that a hotel of such incredible reputation—and cost—felt so scruffy. My room was depressing and more reminiscent of an old motel than a luxury property. The lobby areas on Fifth Avenue and 61st Street also felt tired and dated. On the positive side, most of the staff were pleasant and I enjoyed the breakfast experience. However, one particularly rude housemaid on the morning of October 16 left a very poor impression. Overall, it fell far short of expectations, especially when compared to the standards of my own home and the cruise ship I was about to board.
"Juwel"
The Pierre Hotel is a true gem on Central Park, radiating timeless elegance and distinctive charm from the moment you step inside. Its prime location is unbeatable—Central Park is just outside the door, with world-class shopping and cultural landmarks only a short stroll away. Service is exceptional, with staff who are not only attentive and professional but also warm and welcoming, ensuring guests feel at home right from the start. The rooms are spacious, immaculately maintained, and offer breathtaking views over Manhattan or Central Park. The dining experience is another highlight, with a breakfast that is both varied and of the highest quality. While the hotel is not ultra-modern, its classic and elegant décor is part of its unique allure. The only small drawback is the absence of a pool. Overall, The Pierre is the perfect choice for travelers seeking a luxurious, authentic New York experience steeped in history and style.
"Lovely night at the Pierre"
The first thing I must highlight is the exceptional staff at The Pierre. Every interaction was warm and professional. From the doorman who rushed nearly 75 feet down the block to help with my elderly mother’s roller bag, to the bellmen, elevator attendants, wait staff, front desk, and concierge—everyone treated us with genuine care. Even though we never personally met housekeeping, their attention to detail was clear in the immaculate upkeep of our room. My mother and I visited New York for a Broadway show and booked a twin-bedded room. Check-in was seamless—just a short wait, then a bellman escorted us up via the attended elevator, gave us a mini room tour, explained the Wi-Fi, and made us feel very welcome. The room exceeded expectations, both in size and design, with a view over 61st Street. The beds were extremely comfortable, the linens luxurious, and the décor fresh and well-maintained. The bathroom was a highlight—elegant marble, a soaking tub, and a walk-in shower as large as my old NYC studio bathroom. With ample shelving, magnifying mirror, plush robes, and high-quality toiletries, it offered everything one could want. The closet was spacious and thoughtfully stocked with a safe, umbrella, shoehorn, and lint brush, though drawer storage was limited for longer stays. For entertainment, the TV was simple to use and Wi-Fi worked well. Although my reservation mentioned a news e-reader, I never located it. In the evening, we enjoyed the Two E Bar & Lounge, where live piano and vocals created a lovely atmosphere. It wasn’t crowded, the music was delightful, and the cappuccino excellent. The next morning, I took a peaceful walk in Central Park right across the street, then joined my mother for breakfast at Perrine. The coffee, food, and service were all outstanding, and the included breakfast credit was a nice touch. Check-out was efficient—our bags were stored while we shopped and dined, and pickup was simple when we returned. This was my first stay at The Pierre, and from start to finish, it was memorable. With its unbeatable location, beautiful rooms, and extraordinary service, it will certainly not be my last visit.
"Hits and Misses"
The positives of this hotel are undeniable—the location is fantastic, and the staff are truly incredible. That said, there were several disappointments. While our deluxe room was fine, the suite was underwhelming. It offered only one small closet and a bathroom that did not meet the standard expected of a 5-star hotel suite. Additionally, certain pricing felt excessive, especially when compared to other luxury properties in New York. Overall, unless there is a significant price difference compared to other 5-star hotels in the area, we would likely not return.
"Luxury Central Park Hotel With Impeccable Service!"
I had always wanted to try The Pierre when visiting NYC, and I’ve now stayed there on my last two trips. The property is stunning, but what truly sets it apart is the incredible staff at every level. Everyone goes out of their way to be warm, friendly, and genuinely helpful—completely unlike some other luxury hotels in the area, where guests can sometimes feel like an inconvenience. Having stayed at most of the top hotels around Central Park South, I can honestly say I’m really impressed with The Pierre. It delivers the kind of hospitality that makes you feel valued and welcome, and I look forward to returning.
"avoid courtyard view!"
The only reason I can’t give an “excellent” rating is due to the interior, which, while grand, is clearly in need of refurbishment. Many other iconic hotels—such as The Ritz in London or Paris, or the Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken—are just as historic, yet shine like new pennies thanks to continuous soft renovations. By comparison, this property feels a bit dated. That being said, the service more than stands out. The staff, including Mr. Dancer and the concierge team, are excellent. A special mention goes to Saransh, who consistently went out of his way to comfort and assist guests—a quality every Front Office Manager should have. Keep it up, young man!
"Warm and plentiful staff, Five Star well appointed rooms. Top Notch!"
We thoroughly enjoyed our suite, which was both spacious and very comfortable, with thoughtful touches such as a sheet placed by each side of the bed. The bedding, bath towels, robes, and other amenities were all of the highest quality. What truly stood out, however, was the warmth and professionalism of the staff—from the elevator attendants and doormen to housekeeping, the front desk, concierge, and the restaurant and bar team. A wonderful stay overall, and we will definitely be returning!
"Good but not brilliant"
The Pierre feels older and less well maintained than it once did, with noticeable lapses in cleanliness and attentiveness. Service from housekeeping, concierge, front desk, and even the doormen was not as careful or polished as expected from a hotel of this caliber. The exceptions were the consistently polite elevator operators and Denzel from concierge, whose professionalism stood out.
"My stay in Pierre Taj"
Everything was beyond perfect, especially the staff, who were exceptionally friendly and kind to us. Our room was very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. The food was excellent—both breakfast and dinner were a delight. We truly fell in love with the hotel and are so grateful for the wonderful experience. Thank you for everything!
