"Could have been better"

The hotel itself is nice, but my stay was marred by a few issues. None of the TVs in the room worked, and although I called the front desk the first night, there was no proactive notice to guests. The gym was not particularly clean, the equipment was outdated, and the Peloton bikes didn’t work—likely linked to the TV issue. Overall, the stay was acceptable, but I expected a higher standard for the price.

"One of the best in SOHO area"

The Loft room was amazing. Spacious (for New York) with automatic curtains and shades. The bed was very comfortable and decor was new and chic. I loved the vibe of the hotel and there were many areas to hang out and do work or relax. The location is wonderful with many restaurants and shops. Highly recommend!

"Wonderful place to stay"

A big thank you to Izzy for the warm welcome and to the entire staff for being so kind and helpful during our 4-night stay. We truly appreciated the stylish hotel design, the variety of dining options, and the stunning rooftop. We’re already looking forward to returning on our next trip from the West Coast!

"Soho is the place to be x"

This hotel is incredible! The views are spectacular, the location is perfect, and the staff is exceptionally friendly—special shoutout to Leah! Highly recommend staying here in New York, as it’s close to the subway and all the best dining and shopping spots. You’re going to love it!

"Best view in NYC"

The rooftop bar is absolutely worth a visit. It can be tricky to snag a walk-in spot, but making a reservation and committing to a minimum spend makes it much easier. Service was excellent, drinks were reasonably priced for a place with minimum spends, and the views are some of the best in NYC. It’s also a fantastic spot to people-watch the city’s stylish crowd. Highly recommend trying the X Martini! I’ll definitely be returning.

"Great time at Public hotel"

The staff were all incredibly friendly, and the hotel itself was clean, trendy, and stylish! We enjoyed drinks at the rooftop bar and even ended the night on their merry-go-round—such a fun touch. Had an amazing time and can’t wait to return!

"Very nice property. Minimal service"

A very nice property with great city views and well-appointed rooms in a prime location. Service is minimal—mostly self-service kiosks and no luggage assistance—but Victor at check-in was exceptionally helpful, so definitely ask for him if available. We had an issue with the TV, which the manager addressed promptly. Overall, a pleasant stay for those comfortable with a more self-service approach.

"Over all So-So"

Overall, our stay was underwhelming. We booked a “great view” room on the 8th floor, but the view was far from great, and our complaint went unaddressed. The television was out for the entire five nights. The rooms are quite spartan—small bathroom layout with the toilet next to the shower, no extra towels or hand towels, and limited control over shades. The rooftop bar attracts a younger crowd, making weekend entry chaotic and even causing people to try bypassing security via the elevators. Lots of hype, but the stay didn’t live up to expectations despite being in an interesting neighborhood.

"A 4 Start Mixed Bag!!"

PUBLIC Hotel is a mostly impressive property offering a modern, stylish stay in NYC. Its location makes it easy to access via public transport from JFK, and the nearby metro connections make exploring the city simple. The park across from the hotel provides a lively view, and the hotel’s architecture, ambiance, and contemporary design—including bars, lounges, and general spaces—are exceptional. Dining options, such as Louis’s, are excellent, and the hotel exudes a forward-thinking, trendy vibe that sets it apart from many other NYC hotels. The main drawback is the rooms. We stayed in a “King Great View,” but the view was partially blocked by a neighboring building, and the bed orientation made it difficult to enjoy what could have been a stunning Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges panorama. Small details, like the absence of heated towel rails and no hook for hand towels by the sink, were minor but noticeable. Overall, despite these quirks, PUBLIC Hotel offers a chic, well-located base to explore NYC in style. The few room issues prevent it from being a perfect stay but don’t overshadow the excellent experience.
