"Can I give six stars?"

This restaurant was recommended by a friend, and although we couldn’t get a last-minute reservation, we decided to try our luck. We arrived around 5:15, waited briefly in line, and were seated promptly at the counter when they opened at 5:30. From the very first bite, it was clear why this spot is so popular—the food, wine, and service were all outstanding. Even the house-made gluten-free pasta, which my wife ordered due to her sensitivity, was excellent. Honestly, after this experience, I would have waited 24 hours if necessary. We will absolutely be back again and again on future trips to the city.

"Hip and Hungry"

Arrive hungry to this hip Italian restaurant in the West Village, where the lively energy hits you as soon as you walk in. The dining room buzzes with trendy foodies while young, attentive servers rush about delivering creative cocktails and beautiful plates. We started with the mushroom dish topped with a fried egg—absolutely delicious—along with the hamachi tartare. For our mains, we shared two pasta specials, with the zucchini-and-cheese–filled ravioli in butter stealing the show. To finish, both the olive oil cake and bread pudding were outstanding. We’ll definitely be back!

"Our “modern Italian” restaurant in New York"

We really loved our experience at L’Artusi. The restaurant has a young, modern feel with a menu that is contemporary and creative while still true to its Italian roots. On our trips to New York, we like to balance classic, old-world Italian with a more updated, modern take—and L’Artusi fit that plan perfectly. The pricing felt very reasonable for the quality, atmosphere, and overall dining experience. We will definitely return on our next visit!

"I want to keep this a secret"

If I write about how much I love this place, I risk making it even harder to get a table—but it deserves the praise. The food is consistently impressive and inventive, with a wine list to match. My favorite spot is the bar, which feels more intimate and often comes with even better service. Whatever you do, order the carpaccio—you won’t regret it!

"Incredible Italian restaurant, great ambiance!"

L’Artusi lives up to its reputation, though reservations are fiercely competitive—my brother snagged ours the moment they opened! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the host and seated quickly, with our waiter promptly taking drink orders. We started with the Dayboat Scallops, Beef Carpaccio, roasted beets, and roasted mushrooms. While all were delicious, the roasted mushrooms stole the show—so flavorful I could have made them a meal on their own. For mains, three of us had the orecchiette, and I tried the tagliatelle. Portions seem small at first, but the hand-made pasta is rich and satisfying; only my brother, with the heartiest appetite, finished his plate. Dessert was the signature Olive Oil Cake—tasty, though not quite as memorable as the appetizers or pasta. The staff handled dietary restrictions with ease, accommodating a gluten-free guest and a seafood allergy without issue. Overall, the food was outstanding, the service attentive, and the evening was a wonderful family experience. Highly recommended!

"The noise was so loud that my ears hurt when we left"

We visited on a Monday night and were seated upstairs. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was chaotic. There was a large private party of around 16 and another group of nearly 20 in our section, which made service understandably hectic. What was harder to overlook was the extreme noise level—it was so loud at one point that a guest at the large table seemed to be screeching a toast. Adding to that was loud techno-style music in the background, which made conversation nearly impossible. While the food itself was very good, the overall experience was disappointing. At these prices, it’s not worth returning only to risk a repeat of this noisy, uncomfortable atmosphere. When I mentioned it on the way out, the response was just a shrug and, “We had a lot of large parties.”

"Great spot for a special occsaion"

L’artusi is a popular spot, so booking ahead is essential. From the modest exterior to the lively interior with an open kitchen and dual-floor seating, the atmosphere is vibrant and bustling. The roasted mushroom appetizer stood out, and the hanger steak and lamb pasta specials were well-prepared and nicely presented. Sides were good, though sometimes overly cheesy, as with the brussel sprouts. Dessert, however, was a letdown. The caramelized croissant bread pudding with apple compote, bourbon butter sauce, and crème fraîche gelato sounded promising but fell flat—flavorless, lukewarm, and overcooked in parts. Overall, the food and atmosphere are enjoyable, but given the dessert and the abundance of excellent alternatives, I’d likely explore other options before returning.

"NYC favorite!!"

The food here was fantastic, and the restaurant itself is really charming. We enjoyed some amazing pasta, making this one of our favorite spots during our NYC visit. The only downside was that, despite having a reservation, we were kept waiting for over 30 minutes. Other than that, the experience was wonderful, and we had a great time!

"Still my fave pasta in NY"

This restaurant defies expectations and remains outstanding, even at brunch—a meal many great places often underdeliver. The service was attentive and welcoming, the food insanely good, and the drinks were creative and memorable. I’m still thinking about the “Swimsuit Season” cocktail, a magical mix of gin, grapefruit, and celery. An absolutely fantastic meal!

"Top Italian Gem in NYC"

My recent visit to this Italian restaurant was a real treat, with just a minor hiccup. The staff was fantastic—warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. Their enthusiasm and knowledge of the menu made the meal feel extra special. The Hugo Spritz was a standout—refreshing, light, and perfectly balanced with elderflower and prosecco, setting the tone for a memorable experience. The pasta was another highlight. The tagliatelle with ragù was cooked al dente, with rich, savory flavors that were pure comfort on a plate. The olive cake dessert was a delightful surprise—moist, subtly sweet, with an earthy olive twist that was bold and memorable, leaving me curious to try more of their desserts. The only drawback was the outdoor seating; our table was too close to a trash bin, which brought an unpleasant smell and took away from the otherwise charming patio with its string lights and cozy vibe. Overall, the stellar service, amazing drinks, delicious pasta, and unique dessert make this place a winner. I’d highly recommend it, but stick to indoor seating for the best experience. With a minor adjustment to the patio, this could easily be a top Italian spot!

"Great Pasta – Restaurant Needs Refresh"

Getting a reservation here is no easy feat, so expectations are naturally high. The pasta and appetizers were fantastic, showcasing solid flavors and quality ingredients. However, the dining room was loud and the overall space felt dated and worn. The restaurant could really use a refresh to match the quality of its food. A great meal, just slightly let down by the ambiance.

"is not an Italian restaurant"

While the ingredients are fresh and the dishes well-prepared, this is clearly American cuisine rather than Italian. The use of creams and the style of the recipes do not align with traditional Italian cooking, so diners expecting authentic Italian fare may be surprised.

"Great spot"

This is a great spot with a menu that delivers on flavor. The kale salad, cacio e pepe, bolognese bianco, and olive oil cake were all delicious. Drinks were well-crafted, and the ambiance made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

"Not customer focused."

The food itself was enjoyable, but paying $40 for just six small ravioli felt excessive. When I raised my concern, the manager dismissed my request for more ravioli, insisting nothing could be done. While an olive oil cake was later offered to appease us, it didn’t make up for the frustrating interaction. Overall, the experience left a sour taste despite decent food.

L’Artusi

Modern Italian cuisine with exceptional pastas and desserts. A favorite in the West Village for contemporary, elegant dining.
