"Overhyped and Disappointing – Glacier Express Not Worth It"

This had been a childhood dream, but the Glacier Express turned out to be a huge disappointment. The train itself felt like any regular train with “Glacier Express” painted on it, and the views were underwhelming compared to our prior road trips through Switzerland. Window reflections made photography nearly impossible. The food was substandard for the price, WiFi barely worked (apparently only with Android phones and a European SIM), and the seats were cramped. Some passengers lacked basic etiquette, adding to the discomfort. The ride was further ruined when, upon stopping in Chur, we were diverted due to construction and missed the iconic Landwasser Viaduct entirely, arriving an hour late in St. Moritz through a dark tunnel. Refund attempts were frustratingly slow and cumbersome. For the cost, regular Swiss trains offer the same tracks, beautiful scenery, and much better value. Glacier Express is a total tourist trap – we’ll never take it again.

"Spacious and Comfortable First-Class Journey"

The first-class setup is very comfortable, with four seats arranged in doubles around a large table, providing plenty of space. Traveling from Chur to Andermatt, the best views for photography are on the opposite side of the train, though the server cabin has a window that can be opened for great photo opportunities.

"Disappointing Experience on the Glacier Express"

We had a very disappointing experience on the Glacier Express from Chur to Brig (9:26 AM). The first-class coaches were dirty, with trash on the floor, filthy tables, and a clogged toilet. Service was poor – our starter was forgotten, and the main course arrived cold and tasteless, far from the “culinary experience” advertised. Considering the high price, this was extremely underwhelming and not worth it.

"Spectacular Scenery, But Meals Could Be Better"

The train ride from Andermatt to Zermatt is truly spectacular, and reserving first-class seats as a couple made the journey even more enjoyable. However, the meals left much to be desired—the chicken was undercooked and the sauce bland. We recommend skipping the main meal and opting for a cheese platter with drinks instead. While the Glacier Express offers incredible views, other rides like the Gotthard Express may provide a more satisfying overall experience.

"Scenic and Impressive Glacier Express Journey"

Riding the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz was a wonderful experience. The journey delivers everything you expect from a Swiss adventure – breathtaking nature, stunning alpine views, and a clear impression of the engineering expertise required to build this railway through glacier mountains. The onboard service team was excellent and attentive. However, the digital experience falls short. The provided WLAN QR code didn’t direct to the correct page, and even after finding it, the Internet didn’t work, so expect potential roaming costs. Food and drinks were reasonably priced, but portion sizes and quality did not fully meet typical Swiss standards.

"Scenic Views Overshadowed by Poor Service on Glacier Express"

I had high expectations for the Glacier Express, but my trip was marred by unprofessional and unfriendly behavior from some staff members. Instead of the warm Swiss hospitality I anticipated, I encountered curt responses, dismissive attitudes, and a general lack of courtesy. For a premium-priced scenic journey that markets itself as a world-class experience, the poor staff attitude was shocking. The views were beautiful, but the service left much to be desired. I would not recommend the Glacier Express until staff training is improved and respectful, helpful customer service is prioritized.

"Accidental Glacier Express Ride – Beautiful Views, Standard Experience"

I didn’t originally book the Glacier Express, but I accidentally boarded a carriage from Brig to Zermatt using my first-class train pass. The panoramic windows offered excellent views, adding a bit of excitement to the ride. However, aside from the scenery, the experience felt no different from a regular Swiss train.
