"Good meat restaurant, clear traceability and quality meat (rib beef)"
This restaurant offers an atypical yet enjoyable dining experience with professional service and a calm atmosphere. The beef rib for two (about 1kg) was of excellent quality, and the potatoes were tasty with just the right portion for two. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal and appreciated the quiet, attentive environment.
"Second visit, wanted to like this place but… steak was grisly, veal kidneys rather rare for medium."
In our group, one person enjoyed a mushroom omelette, while I tried the veal kidneys based on previous reviews. Despite ordering medium, they were served rare inside. The green beans were a hit with most, though I found them overly garlicky. The salad was well-received by everyone. Portions were generous and easily shareable. One member felt a bit rushed when ordering, and we were seated downstairs — for the full experience of watching the cooking, request a table upstairs when booking. The rib-eye steak, which a previous visitor had praised, was disappointing this time — thin and tough, with a strange texture. I even took it home to try and improve it after cooking further. Despite the food setbacks, the service was outstanding; our waiter was attentive and friendly throughout. Sadly, we won’t return, but the staff deserve five stars for their professionalism.
"A homey roast experience in the old town of Paris"
The restaurant exudes a warm and inviting atmosphere, filled with the mouthwatering aromas of barbecue. The meat is tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked, complemented by authentic side dishes. While the service isn’t overly refined, it is friendly, attentive, and full of genuine family warmth, making for a comforting and satisfying dining experience.
"I’ve certainly had better from here!"
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for about 20 years and make it a point to visit every time I’m in Paris. On this trip, we came twice. The first visit was excellent, with a truly enjoyable meal. The second visit, however, was disappointing. A young waiter seemed confused, even asking how we wanted our confit duck cooked, and our drinks order was forgotten, leaving us without the aperitif we had planned to enjoy. The food was just okay — not terrible, but not up to the high standard I’ve come to expect. It was a rare off night for a place I usually love.
"Great ambiance, excellent value and service"
This charming two-story restaurant offers a unique dining experience. The main level features an open grill where you can watch all the steaks being cooked over a fireplace, while the lower level has the cozy ambiance of a “wine cave” with natural stone arches. The atmosphere reminded me of the restaurants I visited in Burgundy and Les Baux. I ordered the bavette steak with a delicious onion sauce. We had to send our steaks back initially because they were too rare, but the staff handled it promptly — be sure to specify how you like your steak cooked. Our waitress was excellent: attentive, friendly, and professional. The restaurant felt like a welcoming, family-owned bistro with reasonable prices. Conveniently located within walking distance from the Marais district, we were greeted warmly upon arrival and saw the staff off with the same friendliness. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience.
"Disappointing"
After reading the reviews and booking six weeks in advance, we were very excited to visit this restaurant. Arriving five minutes early for our 7:30 p.m. reservation, we were shown downstairs. While the lower floor had a great atmosphere, we were seated at the end of a large shared table alongside walk-in guests who had been queuing outside. The family next to us was pleasant, but the seating arrangement wasn’t quite what we expected. The steak itself was average and didn’t live up to the anticipation.
"Very good"
The meal was very good overall — though the scoop was slightly overcooked, it was still a successful dish with a generous portion. Paired with the accompaniments, it made for a satisfying lunch, offering great quality for just €25. A solid choice for a hearty and reasonably priced meal.
"Good food."
Robert et Louise is a charming and authentic restaurant located in the heart of Paris’s Marais district. The food is cooked over an open fire, filling the rustic space with the irresistible aroma of grilled meats. The atmosphere is informal, warm, and genuinely French, making it a delightful spot for a true Parisian dining experience.
"Delightfully old school"
This restaurant exudes old-school charm, reminiscent of traditional bistros. The ground-floor dining area centers around a rustic fireplace where beautiful cuts of meat are grilled, creating an enticing atmosphere. The basement rooms, however, felt less inviting. The cooking is simple yet flavorful — the meats are perfectly cooked, and the garlic in the green beans evokes a comforting, homey touch. The sautéed potatoes, however, were a bit bland and lacked richness. Desserts can generally be skipped, especially if you’ve had a starter, as they are classic but unremarkable. Overall, a satisfying experience for meat lovers seeking a traditional bistro vibe.
"A must in Paris"
This restaurant offers an excellent menu paired with top-notch service. The meat is among the best in Paris, and the crème brûlée is absolutely delicious. A delightful surprise was the cozy, heated basement, adding extra charm to the experience. Highly recommended and definitely worth a repeat visit!
