Despite the positive comments we had read, our visit was far from exceptional. The welcome felt cold and awkward, especially compared to the warm greetings given to regulars. The waiter’s attitude was off-putting when I requested items from the menu, giving me a strange look before retrieving the slate. The homemade terrine was hearty and tasty, but my rib of beef, ordered rare, arrived overcooked and tough — a major disappointment for €69. The fries were good, but that wasn’t enough to make up for the main dish. Dessert was the highlight, paired with a well-chosen digestive. Overall, the staff’s somber attitude and the disappointing meal left a sense of regret, with the price not reflecting the quality. A visit I cannot recommend.

La Forge
A bit further afield but worth the trip, this traditional French steakhouse offers big portions, variety and local charm far from the ultra-touristy zones. The journey may be longer, but the value and experience are noted.
