"Oh dear, what can the matter be? But came good in the end…"
We stayed as a family of three for four nights in the royal suite, booking the Cambodian Action Tours package for three days. Unfortunately, our experience began on a frustrating note. Check-in was excessively long—over an hour—with a cumbersome voucher system for breakfast, dinner, spa, and other services that could easily have been handled at the time of reservation. Our room, while the best in the hotel, had issues like loose electrical sockets, and the pool was uncomfortably cold. During our first evening, we returned to find workmen in our room, leaving wet footprints without explanation. Breakfast service was poorly timed, with menu items like eggs Benedict offered just minutes before our tour departure, and our six-year-old had to ask multiple times for water, which arrived in a giant red wine glass. The Cambodian 3-day adventure tour was excellent, but meals organized by the hotel were poorly executed; starters and mains arrived together, leaving the main course cold. Housekeeping seemed inattentive, leaving dirty glasses in a cleaned room with no coffee refills. Despite bringing these concerns to the hotel manager, little was done to address them. Our prebooked dinner on the second night was also mishandled, with bread and starters served simultaneously and mains following out of order—though the hotel did waive the drinks bill in recognition of the poor service. The tide turned once the tours began. Our guide, Som, was phenomenal, making the experience unforgettable, even moving our six-year-old to tears upon farewell. The hotel’s staff also redeemed themselves during the floating village boat tour, with Yin providing excellent service. By the end of our stay, the hotel had regained our trust, and we would rate the overall experience four stars—down from five due to the poor start, but far better than a one-star experience if the initial issues had not been resolved. We would recommend this hotel if the tours are included, the check-in protocol is improved, and you are lucky enough to have Som as your guide.
"Great family vacation in Siem Reap"
Excellent location with top-class staff and service. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. We attended the Apsara dance dinner show, which was fantastic — the food was delicious and abundant, and the dancers delivered an impressive performance. Highly recommended!
"Modern hotel with lovely staff"
We stayed here for just two nights as a base for our trip to Angkor Wat. The hotel arranged a pickup from the bus stop, and after a quick check-in, we were able to start exploring the town from its central location—just a five-minute walk from Pub Street. Both our room and the public areas, including the pool, were clean and well-furnished. We booked an Angkor trip through the hotel reception and were extremely impressed with the service and knowledge of our guide, Chham Chhong. The tour was well worth the price and never felt rushed, making for an enjoyable and memorable experience.
"Lovely stay and experience"
We had a lovely stay at Golden Temple Residence. From the airport, we were greeted by our wonderful hostess, Nicky, and upon arrival at the hotel, the friendly front staff made us feel immediately welcome. We were offered an upgrade to a deluxe room, which we happily accepted for more space during our week-long stay in Siem Reap. The breakfast buffet staff were amazing, attentive, and met our needs perfectly. Special thanks to Rin, Eric, Rosa, and Vanact — they put a smile on my face every morning. The breakfast offered a great variety, from classic eggs and bacon to fresh fruit and traditional Cambodian dishes. The hotel is on a busy street, but the lively area is part of the experience. It’s conveniently close to Pub Street, the Night Market, and many eateries. Our only minor concern was the water pressure, which can be a make-or-break for some. The restaurant also serves guests from the neighboring property, so it can get busy — booking for dinner and shows is recommended. We also booked guided tours through the hotel, and they efficiently arranged both the driver and an English-speaking guide. Overall, the stay was delightful, with excellent service and a great location.
"Stay at Golden Temple when visiting Angkor Wat"
The staff at this hotel were truly outstanding. Joey and Keah at the front desk went above and beyond to help, and it was clear they work hard on their English to make communication smooth and easy. The hotel’s location is very convenient, close to Pub Street and shopping, and the staff quickly felt like friends, always greeting me with a smile when I left or returned from exploring. The hotel is clean, and the team was incredibly helpful in arranging tuk-tuk drivers and offering tour recommendations. I especially recommend using Ol as a tuk-tuk driver when visiting Angkor Wat—he was knowledgeable, polite, and patient, making the experience even more enjoyable.
"Wonderful Siem Reap experience"
We had an outstanding experience at the Golden Temple! The accommodations, spa, and especially the staff were incredible. Special thanks to head chef Heat and our wonderful server Rin, along with so many others who made our stay memorable. We highly recommend Golden Temple Residence to anyone traveling to Siem Reap!
"Great location and service"
This boutique hotel is situated in a lively downtown area, offering guests exceptional service—so much so that we were even treated to a complimentary foot massage while waiting for our room to be ready. The room itself was a comfortable size, complemented by a similarly spacious en-suite bathroom. On the downside, the TV was non-functional and the WiFi connection was unreliable. Additionally, rooms facing the main street are subject to noticeable street noise. The small pool area is pleasant, though traffic noise remains a factor. Breakfast and one lunch were included in the rate, which helped offset the relatively high price, and both meals were satisfactory.
"Apsara and Khmer Evening"
We were fortunate to stay at the Golden Temple Boutique Hotel, which is absolutely gorgeous—and their spa is a must-try! This evening, we were treated to a Traditional Apsara Performance and opted for the Special Khmer Menu, which was outstanding in every way. The staff were incredibly attentive, the food was delicious, the dancers were exquisite, and the music was utterly enchanting. It was a truly memorable and magical experience.
"Excellent Service"
It’s hard to find any fault with our five-day stay. Our spacious room, seamless airport transfers, well-organized day tours, and the incredibly friendly and attentive staff were all highlights. The hotel is perfectly situated near local markets and cultural sights, allowing easy immersion in the local atmosphere. We would definitely stay here again.
"First class boutique experience"
Our experience at this boutique hotel was truly first-class, from the exceptional service to the delicious food and comfortable accommodations. The Apsara performance was beautiful and added a magical touch to our stay. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.
