"More Plusses than Negatves … but not for all"

This small boutique hotel, tucked away in the quiet Monti district, shines with its friendly and attentive staff, delightful morning breakfasts, and a prime location close to major attractions while remaining on a peaceful side street away from the crowds. The downsides are the very compact rooms and bathrooms—even by European standards—and the lack of small conveniences such as face towels, tissues, shelving for toiletries, or luggage racks. If spacious rooms and extra amenities are essential, you might want to consider other options. Otherwise, this hotel offers a delightful stay. For families, two larger suites are available that comfortably accommodate four or more guests.

"Excellent stay."

This hotel is perfectly located for visiting Rome’s main tourist sites while remaining peaceful and quiet. The staff were exceptionally warm and helpful, offering great suggestions and assisting with restaurant bookings and navigating the city. The room was compact, as is typical for many city hotels, but thoughtfully laid out, clean, and very comfortable. The bed was especially cozy, making for a restful stay.

"Honest review, could be a 5 Star property in the Boutique Category"

This is a tough review because I genuinely want this property to be visited. The hotel is adorable, safe, and spotless. Its location, clean rooms, good food, and friendly staff easily make it a five-star experience. If these are the qualities you value, I wholeheartedly recommend a stay. Honest reviews are meant to help, not just gripe, and I hope the owners continue to make improvements. There are some recurring issues, particularly with the air conditioning. On the first night, we upgraded to the Premier Suite, which was lovely and comfortably cool. However, on the second night, we had to move to the Junior Suite due to our booking, and the experience was less comfortable. The AC was audible but ineffective unless the room was sealed for hours, leaving the air stagnant. I even woke up at 3 a.m. because of it. The staff were lovely and did their best, though a small night’s discount might have been appropriate. Having stayed in several Italian locations, AC is generally manageable, so this seems like a fixable issue rather than an unavoidable local challenge. Overall, this hotel is fantastic, and with a few small improvements, it could be truly exceptional. I wish the property and its wonderful team all the best.

"Wonderful staff and great hotel"

This hotel offers a great location and a wonderful room, but it’s the staff who truly make the stay memorable. The pleasant bar and breakfast area add to the experience, and the hotel is just steps from the Roman Forum and the charming cafes of the Monti district. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend this hotel!

"Lovely hotel, perfectly located for a Roman adventure!"

We stayed here for four days at the end of a two-week trip to Italy and found both the hotel and staff to be outstanding. Located just a six-minute walk from the Colosseum in the charming Monti district, the hotel is surrounded by delightful restaurants and nightlife—close enough to enjoy, yet far enough away to remain peaceful. The rooms are small but comfortable and elegantly appointed. What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is the staff. They went above and beyond, handling restaurant reservations, providing excellent shopping guidance, and arranging taxis and airport transfers. Breakfast was a treat, featuring pancakes, fresh fruit, pastries, and coffee. Overall, this hotel is a fantastic base for a memorable Roman holiday.

"The ultimate in comfort and service"

Hotel Nerva is perfectly located directly across from the Colosseum and Roman Forum. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, guided to a comfortable sofa, and offered a drink before our reservations were confirmed. The rooms are spotless, beautifully decorated, and very quiet, with a hot, high-pressure shower. Thoughtful amenities include a free minibar, robe, slippers, tote bag, water bottle, and even a chip for a complimentary drink at Nerva’s bistro. What a fantastic place!

"Solid choice for a boutique hotel"

We stayed here for four nights on our honeymoon, and it was our first time in Rome. The hotel is easy to find, incredibly convenient, and staffed with genuinely friendly people—we didn’t have a single poor encounter. Within a 10-minute walk, you can reach Termini Station, the Colosseum, the Forum, cafes, restaurants, and bus routes to other popular areas like Trastevere. Our room was a good size, allowing plenty of space to unpack and move around comfortably. Check-in was quick, and the staff offered excellent local restaurant recommendations. The room was clean, though there was some mold on the bathroom ceiling due to humidity, which didn’t affect our stay. After 10 p.m., the hotel was very quiet and peaceful, with windows that effectively blocked street noise. The bed was on the firmer side—using a mattress topper would have made it perfect—but we still woke up feeling great. We didn’t try the breakfast, but the complimentary afternoon coffee, tea, and cake were delicious and a lovely way to end a day of sightseeing. Overall, we felt we got excellent value for money and would happily stay here again.

"one night stay in rome nov 2019"

I arrived late in the evening, and the hotel’s location was perfect—right next to the Forum, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, and just a 12-minute walk to Roma Termini train station. The hotel is clean and pleasant, and while the rooms are a bit small, that’s typical for Rome. Breakfast wasn’t included but was a standard continental option. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again!

"Excellent service and location"

This hotel offers excellent service and a fantastic location. The front desk staff are extremely charming and attentive. For maximum convenience, it’s best to stay in the main area of the hotel.

Nerva Boutique Hotel

Small and cozy (20 rooms) in the Monti neighborhood, this boutique hotel is just steps from the Colosseum and Imperial Forums, with elegant marble bathrooms and a homemade breakfast lounge overlooking the Forum of Augustus.
