"Great apartment seperate from the old historic villa"

We stayed 4 nights in the Aventino apartment, which is separate from the main Villa, and it was the highlight of our visit. The apartment itself was fantastic — spacious, comfortable, and ideal for a larger group looking for more space than a traditional hotel room. However, the main Villa feels very old and dated. Upon arrival, you have to ring a bell to enter, and the overall vibe was not to our taste. Thankfully, we spent little time there. The apartment is located in the historic center of Rome, surrounded by restaurants and residential buildings, so it can be a bit noisy late at night. Overall, we highly recommend the Aventino apartment for its size and comfort, but we would not suggest booking a room in the main Villa unless you enjoy very historic, traditional properties.

"A Hidden Gem…An Unmissable, Unique, Exceptional Hotel…"

Villa Spalletti Trivelli is nothing short of a hidden gem and a truly exceptional experience for discerning travelers visiting Rome. Staying here feels less like visiting a hotel and more like being welcomed into an opulent historic aristocratic residence. From the moment Count Andrea Spalletti Trivelli greeted us with a personal tour, explaining the family’s illustrious history and the exquisite tapestries and photographs adorning the villa, it was clear that every detail reflects more than a century of care, taste, and heritage. The villa exudes fin de siècle elegance, with sumptuously furnished drawing rooms, antique furniture, and a curated library of 60,000 volumes that makes one feel transported back in time. Bedrooms are spacious, immaculately appointed, and feature exquisite details such as hand-crafted shutters, excellent air conditioning, and luxurious beds that guarantee a perfect night’s sleep. Bathrooms are flawless, with highly functional showers and indulgent bathtubs. Housekeeping and turn-down service are impeccable, and the villa’s small size ensures personalized attention far beyond typical five-star standards. Service throughout is discreet yet exceptional. Guests can enjoy breakfasts in the serene garden, request cappuccinos or tea at any time, and even mix their own aperitifs using thoughtfully provided bar essentials. The villa’s intimate size, elegant private garden, and large rooftop terrace offer a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Rome, making it a sanctuary where one can fully relax. What truly distinguishes Villa Spalletti Trivelli is its seamless blending of history, luxury, and modern convenience. Every element, from the restored 2,000-year-old mosaic floor to the original elevator, evokes the aristocratic past while providing all the comforts expected of a world-class boutique hotel. The owners’ hands-on approach, warmth, and meticulous care ensure that every guest feels uniquely welcomed and privileged to be part of this extraordinary residence. For anyone seeking a distinctive, intimate, and historically rich stay in Rome, Villa Spalletti Trivelli is unparalleled. It is not just a hotel but a living experience of aristocratic elegance and timeless luxury, and we eagerly look forward to returning to explore the villa’s winery and further immerse ourselves in its heritage.

"Fabulous location. Beautiful Villa. Service unenthusiastic."

Villa Spalletti is fabulously located in central Rome, within easy reach of all the major sites. The property itself is beautiful, with tasteful original fittings and fixtures that showcase its historic charm. However, our experience with pre-arrival communication was disappointing. We emailed the villa three times with simple questions—about the best catacombs to visit, the availability of an iron in our apartment, and other details. Two emails went unanswered, and one was referred to an outsourced company that did not provide any answers. While some of the front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful, the overall service felt inconsistent, and at times we felt like a burden. Some of the modern furniture choices detract from the villa’s elegance. For example, the outdoor furniture is cheap synthetic material that becomes unbearably hot in the sun. With Italy’s rich design heritage, investing in high-quality European brands such as Kettal, Gubi, or Hay would elevate the experience. I wouldn’t rule out staying at Villa Spalletti again, but I would explore other options before booking.

"Great Hotel and staff."

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The grounds are beautiful, and the relaxed atmosphere makes it a perfect base for visiting all the major landmarks in Rome. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable—thank you to everyone for your efforts! The only minor downside was the broadband speed, which made streaming movies difficult. Even though the staff tried their best to help, the issue couldn’t be resolved. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we would happily return.

"A really special place – gracious and accommodating"

Although I usually prefer larger hotels for anonymity and extensive amenities, Villa Spalletti pleasantly surprised me. I booked my stay to be close to the Caravaggio exhibition and was thrilled with my choice. The villa evokes a bygone era of elegance, with gracious sitting rooms leading to a charming outdoor patio. Rooms feature a complimentary mini bar, and guests can enjoy self-service drinks throughout the day. Breakfast is continental and included, and nightly turn-down service adds a special touch. While I traveled alone, the villa felt welcoming, though I imagine the experience would be even more delightful with a companion. This boutique retreat perfectly blends charm, comfort, and attentive service.

"Really excellent, but not perfect"

This small hotel in central Rome is a true oasis amid the crowds—a real pleasure to arrive at after exploring the bustling streets. The rooms are very comfortable, and the property offers fantastic amenities, including a gym, spa, and beautiful common areas. While generally the staff is friendly, there were moments when assistance could have been more proactive. Some minor details could be improved, such as using fresh flowers instead of artificial ones and offering better-quality juices at breakfast. Despite these small imperfections, the hotel provides an exceptional experience, and with a little extra attention to detail, it could be perfect. I would happily return!

"When Villa Spalletti Trivelli rhymes with “alchemy”, “fairy” and “magic”"

Upon entering Villa Spalletti, one is immediately embraced by a staff whose benevolence and discretion create an unparalleled sense of calm. Having stayed here previously to celebrate my mother’s birthday, I was delighted to find the same serenity, comfort, and cocoon-like atmosphere. Time seems to pause, giving way to the Roman dolce vita. The beautifully manicured garden offers a tranquil green space, while the rooftop terrace with its Jacuzzi and sun loungers provides a perfect retreat after a day exploring Rome. The staff, though discreet, are exceptionally helpful. When I encountered an issue with a Pantheon booking, a young receptionist immediately took charge, calling the booking center and resolving the problem with ease—truly making me feel cared for and confident. Breakfast remains as delightful as ever, with both savory and sweet options, and I highly recommend the apple cake. Clever little bells throughout the Villa allow guests to request extras from the kitchen, adding a charming, personal touch. With only 12 bedrooms, the Villa exudes tranquility, whether in the breakfast room or in one of the elegant ground-floor lounges, perfect for reading or quiet reflection. During my stay, I also had the pleasure of tasting wines from Pomario in Umbria, discovering the exquisite Batticoda white wine. Located just steps from Rome’s iconic landmarks—including the Trevi Fountain, Barberini Palace, Quirinal Palace, and Borromini’s Four Fountains—the Villa allows guests to explore the city entirely on foot. The rooms, whether a romantic double or a Prestige Deluxe, offer complete calm, impeccable cleanliness, and luxurious bedding. Daily housekeeping and evening turn-down service elevate the stay, with thoughtful details like half-open beds and closed shutters inviting restful sleep. Villa Spalletti Trivelli is a magical haven where every corner reflects refined taste and understated luxury. For travelers seeking calm, beauty, and attentive hospitality in the heart of Rome, this Villa is an unforgettable retreat. I will return without hesitation.

"Classic Hotel, very well located"

This hotel offers very good service, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms with pleasant common areas. The classical décor is elegant, though a touch more contemporary styling could enhance the overall feel. Its location is ideal, within walking distance of many attractions and restaurants, making it a convenient base for exploring Rome.

"The Ultimate Roman Experience"

Rome boasts no shortage of luxury five-star hotels, yet Villa Spalletti offers something far beyond a typical stay—it is an experience. From the moment we arrived, the villa felt like home, despite its long and distinguished history within Roman society. The team is exceptionally warm and attentive, striking the perfect balance between discretion and thoughtful service. They anticipate needs quietly, stepping in only when required, ensuring a seamless stay. Andrea Spalletti, the latest generation of this storied family, is highly engaged with guests, enhancing the experience with his personal touch. His team quickly learns guest preferences and greets you warmly upon return from a day exploring Rome. The front desk and bell staff are welcoming, the chef and dining team make you feel entirely at ease, and housekeeping is meticulous and thoughtful. A special mention goes to Francesco, the Front Office Manager, whose warm welcome, property tour, and attentive check-ins embody the highest standard of hospitality. The property itself is extraordinary. From the grand foyer and public spaces to the elegant dining room, tranquil garden, and rooftop terrace, Villa Spalletti Trivelli reflects the splendor of a historic Roman home. Architectural details, sumptuous furnishings, and magnificent art are seamlessly integrated into the accommodations, creating a living experience as memorable as the treasures of Rome itself. Every moment spent here feels unique, refined, and utterly immersive. I am already dreaming of our next visit to this remarkable villa.
