"Super aperitif"

I can only comment on the dining experience, but it was definitely enjoyable. The aperitif option is very convenient, offering a generous cutting board with Gladio samples—long, baguette-style bites with various fillings—along with a selection of fried items chosen by the chef and a drink of your choice, all for just €15. The outdoor seating in the inner courtyard is charming and atmospheric, while the indoor area is simpler and more minimalistic. Since the restaurant is located within a hostel, the vibe is casual and filled with young, lively guests.

"Delicious aperitif"

We discovered this place through The Fork and were intrigued enough to book a dinner. We ordered two Gladio baguettes—made with different doughs and flavors and filled with a variety of ingredients, including vegetarian options. Everything was delicious, especially the sweet potato fries and fried chicken. The dining area is set inside the courtyard of an old building now used as a hostel, giving it a vibrant atmosphere with many young people around. There’s a good selection of cocktails, and on Mondays, they even have live music. It’s a great place for an aperitif, with a €15 aperitif formula available. The Fork discount is very convenient; without it, prices can feel a bit high. Overall, well-prepared dishes and friendly, helpful staff make it worth recommending.

"Lunch break okay!"

I am only reviewing the food service, as I usually visit during my lunch break. The menu offers a varied and complete single dish that includes a first course, second course, and side dishes, making it both convenient and satisfying. The staff is friendly and welcoming, adding to the pleasant experience. The location is ideal for tourists—well situated and surprisingly spacious. The inner courtyard where you dine is especially charming, a small oasis of peace that makes the meal even more enjoyable.

"Absolutely loved my stay at Jo&Joe!"

I stayed here for three nights and had an amazing experience. The location is ideal, allowing me to walk easily to all the main sights in Rome. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed, creating a relaxing atmosphere throughout my stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, which made everything even better. I felt truly at home here and will definitely return on my next trip to Rome. Highly recommended!

"Excellent hostel rather upscale except the quality of the beds"

The place is very nice, friendly, and full of thoughtful services and ideas for travelers, whether solo or in groups. Its location is excellent—perfectly situated for easy access to the Trevi Fountain, Barberini Palace, and Termini Station. We stayed as a family in a room for four with a private bathroom, and everything was nearly perfect. The only downside was the beds, which made a lot of noise whenever we moved, interrupting our sleep. Despite this, the overall experience was positive.

"Loved the service and room acomodations, however, the room air conditioner was not working"

The service at this place is excellent, and the room was very clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the air conditioner was not working, making the room uncomfortably warm. When I raised the issue, the front desk staff dismissed it, saying this is normal in all of Europe and that nothing could be done. I stayed for three nights and was unable to get proper sleep due to the heat, which significantly impacted my stay.

"Would come back any day"

I visited for a workation in mid-January, and this turned out to be one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in. The aesthetic is absolutely beautiful, and everything—from the common areas to the rooms—was spotless. I stayed in a women’s dorm, and the only drawback was the lack of privacy curtains on the top bunks. Aside from that, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the hostel was easy to find, making the overall stay very enjoyable.

"Nice place to stay in Roma"

Excellent place to stay while visiting Rome. The rooms are neat and clean, and the private bathroom even comes with a hand shower for added convenience. The staff are very helpful, and the breakfast is delicious. I also ordered pizza for dinner, which was surprisingly good. Overall, it’s a great place to stay, perfectly located about a 10-minute walk from both Roma Termini and the Trevi Fountain.

"Great option in Rome but some unfortunate ‘house rules’ that don’t make sense."

Great property in an excellent location. I stayed in the family terrace room, which was fantastic—situated on the top floor with a huge outdoor terrace, perfect for relaxing. The bathroom was excellent as well. The only downsides were the lack of a fridge to keep drinks or water cold and the rule prohibiting food or alcohol in the rooms. It’s a shame, as enjoying something simple like takeaway pizza and a glass of wine on the terrace in the evening would have been wonderful. Aside from that, I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend this place.

"Best hostel ever!"

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt I had to because this place is incredible. The location is excellent, and the décor is beautiful throughout. I stayed in a 4-bed mixed dorm that even had a balcony and its own bathroom, which was a wonderful surprise. I chose to have breakfast here and was very impressed by the variety of options—especially for a hostel. The staff were absolutely wonderful: friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. I also loved the extra activities offered; the cycling tour is a must if you can join. Having stayed in many hostels around the world, I can honestly say this is the best one I’ve experienced. I’d return in a heartbeat.

JO&JOE Roma

A fun, design-forward hostel-hotel in a converted 16th-century monastery, with both dorms and private rooms; it has a lively social vibe, courtyard bar, and starting rates from about €35.
