"One of the Best Hostels!"

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at! Super clean, modern, and very comfortable with private beds and curtains for extra privacy. Each room has lockers, which is very convenient. I actually preferred the mixed dorms over the all-female rooms because the beds and rooms are bigger and more modern. There are plenty of activities to enjoy with other guests, making it a very social and fun experience. The staff at the bar and restaurant were incredibly friendly and cheerful, especially Frittz, who made our stay even better. I hope to return one day!

"Comfortable Hostel with Good Facilities"

The standard rooms are typical of a decent hostel, with good lockers, safes, and comfortable beds. Some drawbacks include no curtains on the beds, which limits privacy, and a small, wet shower. Service is excellent, and the communal kitchen and social areas are very nice. The hostel is slightly further from the city center than expected, but you can walk to most main attractions (except Vatican City) in about 40 minutes. It’s conveniently located near Termini train station.

"Fantastic Social Hostel in Rome"

Yellow Square Rome is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in Europe. The atmosphere is very social yet comfortable—ideal for solo travelers or groups. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help with recommendations or bookings. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. The location is excellent, within easy walking distance of Termini Station, restaurants, and major attractions. The connected bar downstairs is a great bonus for meeting people and enjoying live music or evening events. Overall, it’s the perfect mix of fun, comfort, and convenience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Rome!

"Good Value but Wi-Fi Security Concern"

I was overall impressed with the range of experiences offered here at roughly half the price of competing hotels in the area. The receptionists respond quickly via WhatsApp, which is very convenient. However, the free Wi-Fi being open and unencrypted is a major security risk, as all information is broadcast in plain text. I used a VPN, but this caused connection instability on my iPhone. If a secure password is implemented—or better yet, unique passwords for each guest—I would happily update my rating to 5 stars.

"Great Location and Staff, But Room Conditions Could Improve"

Pretty expensive for what we received. Compared to the Florence hostel we stayed at previously, which was 10/10, this Rome hostel was a bit disappointing, especially at over double the price. Negatives: The building is old and rundown, and the rooms are not as nice. Shower and toilet areas are extremely cramped, making it difficult to change clothes, and no mats are provided, so floors get wet and muddy. The windows in our room didn’t seal properly, allowing noise to come through. Positives: The beds were standard, air conditioning was good, and the staff kindly provided extra sheets to use as curtains. The location is excellent, and the Yellow Bar is fantastic!

"Good Location but Subpar Facilities and Staff"

I stayed in both a private room and a dormitory during my trip. The private room was extremely small with poor ventilation, and the dormitory was very congested. Despite paying the same rate, my friend and I were assigned different dorms—one spacious and one cramped—which indicates a need for tiered pricing. The reception staff, particularly Kate, was rude and dismissive when I raised concerns about ventilation. A polite explanation would have been sufficient, but instead, she was unfriendly. While the location is convenient, the facilities and staff service do not justify the price.

"Fantastic Stay with Friendly Atmosphere"

I had a great stay at YellowSquare Rome! The location is ideal, just a short walk from Termini. I loved the historic building, stylish interior, and the overall social vibe. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, making it perfect for solo travelers—you never feel alone. I also enjoyed the bar across the street, which is great for meeting new people quickly. 💥

"Fun Social Atmosphere but Small Bathrooms"

YellowSquare Rome is super fun if you’re looking for a party across the street, but the bathrooms are very small compared to the amazing YellowSquare in Florence. Beds don’t have curtains, so everyone uses a second blanket for privacy. On the positive side, the free classes are excellent—the mixology class was my favorite!

"Overpriced and Disappointing Stay"

This hostel is overpriced for what it offers. The building is worn down, blankets had no covers and were stained, and the bathroom had mold that hadn’t been properly cleaned. Kitchen access is limited, and the fridge didn’t cool properly. Rooms facing the bar can be noisy at night. While it’s marketed as social, it’s only enjoyable if you arrive with a friend—otherwise, you may feel isolated. The location is convenient for tourist sites and the train station, but the area can feel sketchy at night. Staff were unhelpful, mainly playing loud music, and responses to reviews appear automated rather than genuine.

"Clean, Fun, and Secure Hostel"

I really enjoyed this hostel. It was clean, with well-maintained rooms and bathrooms. The beds have curtains, offering much-needed privacy in shared spaces. The staff are kind, funny, and helpful. The Yellow Bar has a great vibe, good drinks at fair prices, and tasty food—highly recommend the free pasta from 18:30–20:00. Security is excellent, as you cannot enter the building without a key card or staff member.

YellowSquare Rome

Popular with backpackers and solo travellers; affordable beds/dorms, social vibe and a location that’s easy to access many of Rome’s main sights.
