Hotel de’ Ricci

"Sure wish the bathroom had a door"
The hotel is situated in a quiet, pleasant part of the historic center, making it ideal for walking and close to many restaurants and attractions. The room was reasonably priced and a decent size, but the main drawback is the lack of bathroom privacy. There is no door to the shower, and the toilet is in a small, closet-like space, which can feel awkward when sharing the room with someone else. While suitable for a solo traveler, the room would greatly benefit from at least a divider to avoid the feeling of sleeping in a bathroom.
"Perfect wow!"
What a perfect little gem of a hotel—everything was amazing from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and delighted with a surprise upgrade to a suite with a terrace. Enjoying our first morning breakfast on the terrace was an absolute highlight, offering the best continental breakfast we’ve ever had, with everything you could wish for and more. The hotel is ideally located, just a short distance from all the main attractions. The staff were exceptional, making us feel truly welcome throughout our stay. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you, Hotel De Ricci!
"Great hotel except for the cigar smoke!"
We stayed at Hotel De Ricci for seven nights to celebrate our 45th anniversary, and it was a truly memorable experience. The hotel and staff are wonderful, welcoming us with a glass of prosecco upon arrival, and the morning continental breakfast was excellent. The location is perfect, and we were delighted to be upgraded to a top-floor suite with a beautiful terrace. The only drawback was the enclosed cigar bar, as the smoke and smell drifted into the small bar and restaurant, which was challenging for those with asthma or anyone sensitive to cigar smoke. The aroma lingered into breakfast, so we opted to have it delivered to our room each morning. Despite this issue, the stay was enjoyable, though we may need to explore another boutique hotel next year.
"Best location in Rome"
This is the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in. The staff are top-notch, always ready to assist with anything we needed, from taxis to recommendations for sightseeing. The location is perfect for walking to all major attractions, conveniently situated halfway between the Colosseum and the Vatican. The private bar offers a fantastic wine selection and serves excellent food, making the experience even more memorable.
"Wonderful weekend"
This hotel was perfect for us. The location is excellent, within walking distance of great dining areas and most of the main attractions. The staff were outstanding, attentive to every detail and genuinely personable. With only eight rooms, the hotel feels very intimate and private. I would gladly stay here again given the chance.
"Wonderfully appointed cigar lounge, a must when in Rome."
My husband loves cigars, and we were thrilled to discover the Cigar Lounge at Hotel de Ricci. The space feels very exclusive, with excellent service and impeccable attention to detail. Guests can relax in comfortable leather Chesterfield chairs in a temperature-controlled room and simply enjoy the moment. You can bring your own cigar with a minimum spend of €30 or choose from a wide selection of top-quality cigars, paired with drinks. Highly recommended for cigar enthusiasts!
"Lovely hotel, great location but…."
We stayed here as a couple for four nights and were impressed by the hotel’s ‘wow factor.’ The look and feel of the property are lovely, and the rooms are very comfortable. The location is ideal for sightseeing around Rome, with excellent local bars and restaurants nearby. However, I cannot give a full 5 stars due to a few small but noticeable issues. Breakfast was inconsistent, our in-room wine cellar bottle was neither replaced nor acknowledged, and the promised canapés to accompany the wine did not arrive. Additionally, the bar and reception staff did not fully respond to our needs. Overall, the hotel is very nice with a great concept, but management needs to focus more on these finer details to deliver a truly 5-star experience.
"An oasis in the heart of Rome"
Hotel De’ Ricci is an oasis in the heart of Rome, situated in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance of many of the city’s historic sites. The rooms are chic, spacious, beautiful, and extremely comfortable; our room even featured a balcony overlooking a courtyard, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee in private. The hotel bar is excellent, offering a wide selection of craft cocktails in a stylish and intimate setting. Customer service is outstanding, from pre-arrival planning through the entire stay, including helpful assistance with local resources such as barbershops and gyms.
"Very good with a lot of room for improvement."
I discovered this hotel by chance after browsing many options in Rome, and it truly impressed me. The comfort and décor feel like a 5-star property—everything is brand new, freshly decorated, with a tasteful wine theme throughout. The location is excellent: just 10 minutes from the historic center, 25 minutes to the Spanish Steps, and 25 minutes to the Vatican, making it very central despite no nearby subway. However, the reception needs more flexibility and preparation. When we requested an early check-in 90 minutes before the official time, the receptionist asked for an additional fee, and the same occurred at check-out, despite the hotel not being full. Food is also an issue: while a continental breakfast is included, its quality is poor, and it was exactly the same for four days. A simple request for scrambled eggs cost 13 euros. Despite these drawbacks, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely return, especially if the hotel improves guest treatment and the breakfast offering.
"Fantastic Hospitality"
This was our second stay at Hotel De’ Ricci, and it was just as wonderful as the first. From the moment we arrived, the staff treated us with exceptional kindness and sincerity, even offering cappuccinos to my whole family at check-in, setting a warm tone for our visit. They went above and beyond to assist with transportation and every little request, making us feel more like friends than guests. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and breakfast each morning was delicious, something we eagerly anticipated. What truly makes this hotel special is the atmosphere—it feels like a peaceful escape from the busy streets of Rome, despite its central location. We’ve stayed at many hotels, but none match the hospitality and warmth of Hotel De’ Ricci. It is a true oasis in the city, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.
