Hotel Ponte Sisto

"Good location"
The rooms at this hotel are small but adequate, with a shower that had good water pressure. Air conditioning is centrally controlled and shuts off automatically in the evening. The location is excellent, making it easy to explore Rome. However, breakfast was disappointing for an Italian hotel—the coffee was terrible, though the rest of the offerings were okay. The courtyard is cozy for breakfast, and the birds didn’t bother us, which felt natural. Overall, it’s a good stay if you plan to have breakfast elsewhere.
"The carpet."
My friend and I stayed for two nights in a standard room during the first week of November. The hotel has a fantastic location—crossing Ponte Sisto puts you right in Trastevere, with Campo de’ Fiori and Piazza Navona just a short walk away. Breakfast was good, and the staff were polite and helpful. On the downside, our room on the first floor showed its age. The carpet is worn beyond recognition, and the bathroom was small with a bathtub and curtain (less hygienic) and a cramped niche for the sink. Overall, the hotel is great for location and service, but the rooms could use updating.
"Good Hotel in Rome"
We had a lovely three-night stay here with family. The location is fantastic, conveniently situated halfway between the Vatican and the Colosseum, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was good, and the hotel staff were helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. The private airport transfer provided by the hotel made our departure smooth and stress-free. A very pleasant experience overall.
"Nice hotel. Very central in Rome."
This hotel is excellent, offering a wonderful rooftop terrace with chairs and sunbeds—perfect for relaxing in the sun. Breakfast is lovely, but a tip: if dining outside, don’t all leave the table at the same time, as birds will happily help themselves to your plates! The rooms are comfortable, though the mattresses are very soft, which can leave a “dip” and cause back discomfort in the morning. On the terrace, an outdoor shower would be a great addition, as it gets very warm and there’s currently no way to cool down. Overall, a great stay with just a few small comfort issues.
"Good hotel with good breakfast. Located in a side street near the river Tiber."
This four-star hotel offers a pleasant atmosphere and a good breakfast. The staff are attentive and welcoming, making you feel right at home. The hotel is located on a busy street, though it becomes quieter in the evening. Fortunately, the room maintained a comfortable temperature even without air conditioning. A solid choice for a relaxing stay.
"FOR ROOFTOP!!!!"
The hotel has a great location, with a lovely patio and rooftop area. If you want a good night’s sleep, request a courtyard room—otherwise the old building’s poor soundproofing will make rest difficult. We were fortunate to be upgraded due to an air conditioning issue, which was a nice touch. Bathrooms mostly have bathtubs rather than showers, which may not suit everyone. Breakfast offers plenty of choices, though be prepared for the company of many birds! The rooftop staff are very friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, the reception team left a very poor impression—unwelcoming, rarely smiling, and not helpful during the day. For this reason, we would hesitate to return despite the hotel’s charm.
"Very good."
We stayed 4 nights at this conveniently located hotel near Campo dei Fiori. The staff were impeccable and considerate, particularly in delicate situations, making our stay very comfortable. The bathroom was ideal—a rare find in European hotels—and the breakfast was decent, though not extravagant. The only downside was the soundproofing; the room partitions were quite thin, which slightly affected the overall tranquility.
"Not worth 4 stars"
The hotel has an excellent location, allowing us to do everything on foot. The staff is friendly, though the interior feels a bit dated. Upon arrival, there was a lack of clear information about breakfast and other services. Our first night in a room overlooking the alley was extremely noisy, making it hard to sleep. The second night in a different room was better, with noise at a more acceptable level. The rooms are old and could use better maintenance, although cleanliness was not an issue. Breakfast is quite good, but overall, the hotel does not feel worth a 4-star rating in its current state.
"A good choice in Rome"
This super traditional hotel is perfectly situated—about a 30-minute walk from both Vatican City and the Colosseum. Breakfast is a decent buffet, and we recommend enjoying it in the smaller painted room beyond the main buffet area for a charming atmosphere. The staff, especially in the bar, were consistently friendly and helpful, and the front desk team spoke excellent English. A welcoming experience overall—I look forward to returning.
"Weekend in Rome"
We had an excellent stay at Ponte Sisto. The property is ideally located for exploring the historic center, yet remains very quiet. The rooms are comfortable, and the breakfast is extensive and made with fresh products. The staff is friendly and always smiling, adding to the enjoyable experience. We will definitely return on our next trip to the Eternal City.
