"Relaxing Spa Day"

This review is for the spa experience only, as I stayed elsewhere in an Airbnb but booked the detox program for €350. The package included a wellness screening, a fitness class, 90 minutes in the Roman baths, and a 60-minute hammam, and overall it was a fantastic and deeply relaxing experience. I left feeling completely refreshed and relaxed. The wellness screening was a non-invasive assessment using electronic plates to measure biometrics such as cardiovascular health, circulation, stress, and immunity levels. While I’m not entirely sure how the technology works, everything was done electronically through the hands and feet, with additional magnetic connections at the forehead. It was very interesting to review my health profile and understand areas I need to focus on—particularly managing cortisol levels. Based on the results, you are assigned either a yoga or fitness class. I chose the fitness option because I wanted to work on toning, and it turned out to be a private training session in the gym. It was well tailored, challenging, and definitely had me sweating by the end, even though I regularly work out. Afterward, I spent 90 minutes in the Roman baths, which were very clean and relaxing. I enjoyed time in the sauna and steam rooms—both quite hot—as well as the hydrotherapy pools. The experience ended with the hammam, which included a body scrub that was incredibly relaxing and helped ease muscle tension. I finished the day with a detox juice and some quiet time in the lounge. In total, I spent about five hours at the spa, and it was the perfect way to spend an afternoon when it’s 95 degrees and sunny outside. The staff were extremely lovely and helpful, with snacks and water readily available throughout. I also appreciated that tipping is not expected in European spas. For me, the experience was absolutely worth it and something I would happily do again.

"Roof top 5 stars? No, it’s like the cloister."

I waited before writing this review, having visited the terrace several times, because one or two poorly managed evenings can happen. Unfortunately, I must say that the issues I experienced were consistent rather than occasional. Despite the kindness and enthusiasm shown during the welcome, the overall service and management of the restaurant and aperitif experience were decidedly poor. On my first visit, I was there with foreign guests, and of the four dishes ordered, only one arrived correctly. It felt as though orders were either forgotten or placed at random. During my second visit, the entire evening was marked by repeated lapses in service. We requested the wine list, which never arrived, and by the time the starters were served, we still hadn’t been able to choose a wine. When we asked for details about a specific wine, the description we received—“good, I like it” and “dry, but good”—was entirely inadequate. The wine turned out to be an unfiltered, orange-colored wine with very distinctive characteristics and a price tag of €90. A more accurate and professional explanation was clearly expected. To make matters worse, despite multiple reminders, the wine was served only after the appetizers had already been finished. Throughout the evening, there were further oversights: water was not replenished, dessert arrived without coffee, and we were never offered bread, which we had to request mid-meal. The staff, while young, kind, and polite, seemed trained mainly to be friendly rather than knowledgeable or attentive. The restaurant menu itself is quite limited, and I would recommend asking for the aperitif menu, which actually offers more appealing dishes than the main dining menu. The view from the terrace is undeniably beautiful, but unfortunately, the service is unprofessional and far below what one would expect from the rooftop of a five-star hotel. I say this with regret, as the staff are genuinely nice, but the level of service currently feels more suited to a casual street venue than a luxury rooftop experience.

"Calm stylish oasis in Rome"

The Six Senses is a beautiful, calm, and stylish oasis amid the hustle and bustle of Rome. We truly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the peaceful atmosphere throughout the hotel. The service was proactive and very friendly, adding to the overall sense of relaxation. The building itself has been exceptionally well renovated, and the rooms are contemporary, thoughtfully designed, and architecturally impressive, though somewhat simple in style. The spa is excellent, and the terrace is beautiful, offering a lovely space to unwind. One surprise was the lack of a dedicated gluten-free offering at the breakfast buffet, which is typically standard in luxury hotels. Overall, it is a stunning property, though room prices feel exceptionally high when considering the size of some of the rooms.

"to be improved ….."

This was our third or fourth stay at this hotel, and unfortunately we noticed a clear drop in service quality and overall organization. Being urged twice to vacate the room despite having a long-agreed late check-out was unpleasant and unprofessional. Addressing a guest with phrases such as “when do you intend to leave the room” should never happen before staff verify the customer’s booking details. At dinner, our meal was paid for but later charged again, which required correction. Breakfast was another disappointing experience: waiting 40 minutes for a couple of omelets is unacceptable, especially when this delay pushed us close to the 11:00 a.m. cutoff. We were then told that ordering coffee would incur an extra charge, a situation seemingly caused by prioritizing outside guests over hotel residents. On a positive note, room cleanliness remains excellent, and the spa continues to be absolutely gorgeous. However, these strengths are being overshadowed by service disorganization that is disappointing, particularly for returning guests who expect consistency at this level.

"Beautiful location, poor tour services"

The Six Senses Rome is a beautiful hotel located in the heart of the city, making it an excellent base for exploring the Eternal City. While our recent stay was very enjoyable overall, we were disappointed with the tour services offered by the hotel. The guide appeared rushed and was difficult to follow, which was unexpected given the premium price of the tour. For a hotel in such a prime and historic location, these services are an important part of the guest experience and should be better organized. Despite this shortcoming, the hotel’s quality, ambiance, and location still merit a solid four-star rating.

"It is urgent that they improve their quality in food to make it truly a first-rate experience."

This is a luxury hotel with new facilities and advanced technology, but unfortunately the restaurant service and overall food quality fall well below expectations. There is a clear lack of alignment between the caliber of the hotel and its cuisine. The menu offers a poor selection of protein options, the dishes lack flavor, and portion sizes are insufficient. While the property itself is impressive, the dining experience does not reflect the standard one would expect from a hotel of this level.

"Teething problems"

I surprised my wife with a six-night stay at Six Senses Rome at the end of our eleven-week European holiday. We had been eagerly awaiting the hotel’s opening and were very excited to finally experience it. Upon arrival, our complimentary one-way chauffeur service pulled up to the entrance, where three staff members greeted us, promptly handled our luggage, and escorted us to the lobby. Check-in was conducted comfortably in the lounge rather than at a front desk, which was a lovely and personal touch. We stayed in a Junior Terrace Suite, which was beautiful and featured a large terrace, exactly as hoped. The dining spaces, rooftop bar, spa, and Roman bathhouse were all stunningly designed. Although we didn’t book spa treatments, the Roman bath experience was a must-do and very enjoyable. Leading up to our stay, communication with the reservations team was excellent, and they assisted with a couple of personal requests efficiently and thoughtfully. That said, there were several disappointing issues during our stay—mostly small but unexpected mistakes for a hotel of this caliber and price point. I received an automated email from the General Manager after our departure asking for feedback, and I replied expressing my wish to share these concerns privately. However, four months later, I have yet to receive a response, which is why I’m sharing them here. At check-in, I was asked to pay a deposit equivalent to the first night’s stay, despite having already paid for all six nights in full. As this stay was a surprise for my wife, this moment was awkward and could have easily been avoided with better pre-arrival notes. When escorted to our suite, no explanation was given regarding room features. I had to ask where the terrace was, and even then, the staff member was unsure how to open the doors. The following day, I requested wine glasses for the room, which was surprising given that wine was stocked in the minibar but no glassware was provided—not even water glasses. The next day, the used wine glasses were removed and replaced with water glasses only, leaving us still without proper wine glasses. We also booked a wine-tasting experience. Despite arriving early and spending time in the bar ordering drinks charged to our room, we were later informed that the team assumed we weren’t coming and had packed up and left. This was particularly frustrating, as we were present the entire time. Another issue arose with laundry service. I sent brand-new trousers for ironing only, clearly marking the form. The form was altered without consultation to “wash and iron,” and the trousers were returned accordingly. While the bill was later corrected, editing a guest’s request without confirmation was disappointing. Despite clearly noting my wife’s gluten intolerance during booking, this information was not communicated to food and beverage staff. We had to restate it at every venue and meal, with the sole exception of room service, which acknowledged it immediately. Even then, when my soup arrived via room service, it was served without a spoon, requiring yet another call. There were also smaller communication lapses, such as receiving the same introductory email from three different spa staff members, and on departure day, a gardener knocked on our door 30 minutes before our agreed checkout time asking to access the terrace—something that could have been avoided with better interdepartmental coordination. Despite all of the above, the friendliness and warmth of the staff were consistent throughout our stay. We understood that the hotel had only been open for about seven months, and many team members appeared either new to the industry or new to five-star luxury standards. However, these are still issues that should not occur at this level. My intention in sharing them privately with management was so they could be addressed internally for improvement. Ultimately, we had a fantastic stay and a magical end to our European summer adventure. Hopefully, now a year on, these early teething problems have been fully resolved.

"Roman Bath Experience in Rome"

This review is for the Roman Baths at Six Senses, which were absolutely incredible! They offer a modern and refreshing take on an ancient tradition. The space is beautifully designed, serene, and wonderfully relaxing—a perfect retreat from the busy city. I highly recommend experiencing it!

"Not cheap but recommendable"

Not inexpensive, but truly an exceptional experience. The interior design is outstanding, and the rooftop is spectacular, offering breathtaking views over the rooftops of Rome along with excellent drinks. The staff are super friendly, the atmosphere is great with well-balanced sound, and it’s a place I would happily return to anytime.

"Five star stay"

The room was spacious as advertised, though the walk-in closet wasn’t particularly necessary for our short stay—if budget is a concern, a standard room would likely suffice. I especially loved the bathroom design, which had great water pressure and easy temperature control. The Roman Baths were a highlight; we enjoyed them so much that we visited twice, though unfortunately we booked the spa too late to secure a session. Breakfast was also enjoyable, with a generous buffet selection and a good range of made-to-order hot dishes, even if they weren’t particularly memorable. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay.
