Baglioni Hotel Regina – Rome

"Exceptional Hotel"
We stayed at this hotel from November 13–15 before leaving on a Viking Cruise and could not have been more pleased. The location is excellent—within walking distance to the Borghese Gallery, Spanish Steps, and Trevi Fountain, with taxis readily available when needed. The doorman was quick and helpful, assisting us in and out of our taxi. The hotel itself is clean, our room was exceptional, and the service was truly excellent. Breakfast offered everything you could want, complemented by the soothing sounds of a harpist playing quietly during the meal. After reviewing dozens of hotels online before our trip, we are confident that this is where we will stay the next time we return to Rome.
"Hotel Baglioni – Rome"
This is a beautiful hotel with large, very comfortable rooms—the bed was absolutely divine. The service was truly five-star; when a mishap caused us to extend our stay by a day, the front desk staff went above and beyond to ensure we kept our room, even though the hotel was sold out. The on-site restaurant, Brunello, was excellent—we dined there three times, ordering pasta dishes off the menu, and the staff were always accommodating. Breakfast was included each day, featuring a full buffet as well as made-to-order eggs from the menu, making for a delightful start to each morning.
"Lovely November stay, would go back"
We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast, sometimes accompanied by live harp music, which added a special touch to our mornings. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Our room showed some signs of wear and could benefit from renovation in the near future. While garbage collection and traffic noise from the nearby street could be heard, it was never too disturbing. Overall, a pleasant experience, and we hope to return in the near future.
"Great Staff but Worn Down Rooms"
The staff at the front desk, concierge, and restaurant were kind and accommodating, making our stay pleasant. Unfortunately, the rooms are in desperate need of a refresh. The level of disrepair gives the impression that basic maintenance is overlooked, with issues such as torn wallpaper, a broken toilet seat, and faulty electric switches. Even small details, like the old-fashioned key for our adjoining room instead of a card swipe, highlight how dated the facilities are. While the service was excellent, the accommodations themselves require significant attention to meet modern expectations.
"Too pricey for what they offer."
The hotel is in a fantastic location, within walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and other central attractions. However, I was a bit disappointed upon arrival, as the hotel did not impress me as much as its online description, photos, and price suggested. The lobby is small and could use some TLC, as could the rooms. We booked a room with a balcony to enjoy our morning coffee, but the bathroom was very uncomfortable—the door couldn’t open wide enough for both of us to stand at the sink. The room was smaller than expected, though compact spaces are common in Europe. Overall, a convenient location, but some aspects could be improved to match expectations.
"Fabulous."
We spent a week at Baglioni Hotel Regina while attending the Tennis Tournament at Foro Italica and were thoroughly delighted with our stay. Selected by our trusted travel agent for its proximity to the tournament, the hotel exceeded all expectations and became our comfortable home in Rome. From the moment of arrival, we were impressed by the warm greetings from the door staff, the bright and welcoming lobby, and the friendly, efficient reception team. Our Grand Deluxe Room on the 7th floor was quiet, spacious, and beautifully furnished with a large double bed, sofa, desk, ample storage, a hospitality cupboard with a fridge, a safe, TV, kettle, and coffee machine. The adjoining bathroom was generously sized with a large vanity, toilet, bidet, heated towel rail, stool, and a huge walk-in shower, complemented by Acqua Di Parma toiletries. Housekeeping maintained the room to the highest standard throughout our stay. Breakfast was a highlight, served in two elegant rooms with an extensive buffet and made-to-order options. Table service was attentive, efficient, and friendly, making each morning relaxing and enjoyable. The hotel also features a small spa and gym, both reflecting the high-quality environment of the property. Located on Via Vittorio Veneto, opposite the American Embassy, the hotel’s location was ideal, within walking distance to major attractions, taxis, and dining spots such as Hard Rock Cafe, Harry’s Bar, and Villa Borghese park. We also recommend restaurants nearby, including Salumeria Roscioli, Santo Padre, and Peppone. The entire staff, from concierge to housekeeping, were professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful, ensuring that every aspect of our trip ran smoothly. Our memorable week in Rome was made even more special thanks to Baglioni Hotel Regina, which we can wholeheartedly recommend as a luxurious and welcoming home in the city.
"Good."
This is a very old hotel with a lot of character, and overall it is very good. The rooms, though dated, were clean and the bathrooms well-maintained. However, the hotel’s acoustics are poor—you can hear people walking on the upper floors as if they were “elephants.” In my opinion, the hotel could benefit from stronger management, as we experienced several issues that interrupted our stay. On one morning in the middle of winter, there was no hot water in the shower, and over three nights we also dealt with slow lifts, no Wi-Fi, and internet problems. The hotel was kind enough not to charge us for any fees or consumption to compensate, but these issues are not what one expects from a 5-star property.
"Very pleasant weekend"
A very pleasant hotel with a wonderful breakfast, attentive service, and a prime location, all enhanced by lovely musical accompaniment. The staff, from the concierge onward, were impeccable and made our stay particularly enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable, though a few minor improvements could be made—such as updating the TV, including a toothbrush in the courtesy kit, and making the heating easier to manage. One downside was the spa: we were unable to use it as it required advance booking, and all slots were full. So, when reserving your room, be sure to book the spa in advance. For those who love Via Veneto, this hotel comes highly recommended.
"Hit and miss"
The hotel has a great location, clean rooms, and an excellent breakfast with attentive staff. Rooms facing the street, however, suffer from high traffic noise, and the lack of temperature control made it uncomfortably hot. Our first room also had a shower that didn’t drain, so we switched to a quieter room at the back on the 7th floor, which was much better. The breakfast buffet offered a wide selection, with made-to-order omelettes and crepes, though my cappuccino was bitter and overly foamy. Small inconveniences, such as heavy doors and a doorman who was often distracted, caused minor injuries when opening doors myself. Overall, I would rate the stay 6/10 due to these issues, despite the positives.
"New Mattress Needed"
I loved the location of this hotel, with its friendly staff and elegant design. However, there were a few drawbacks during my stay. The bathrooms could use a remodel, and my bed had a large divot, making it uncomfortable for a good night’s sleep—something that should be addressed in a 5-star luxury property, especially given the nightly rate of around $575 USD. The fitness center is small but adequately equipped for a vacation workout. Be aware that the city tax is charged at the end of your stay, on top of the room rate. Overall, I would rate my experience 7.5/10: a beautiful hotel with attentive service, but certain elements didn’t meet my expectations for the price.
