Margutta 19 Luxury Hotel

"Via Margutta is the Best!"
My wife and I ended our recent Italian trip at this hotel, and it was a home run. We stayed in a classic suite that checked all the boxes—classy décor, a pleasant fragrance, and wonderfully quiet for a bustling city. This was our second stay on Via Margutta, and in my opinion, it is the best place to stay in Rome. The street is quiet, charming, and perfectly located for sightseeing. The included breakfast at Emme was by far the best we had in Italy, and we also enjoyed a delicious dinner there one evening. When we return to Rome, we will undoubtedly book here again.
"Quiet Location in Rome with Family"
Margutta 19 is a delightful boutique hotel tucked away on a quiet street near several art galleries. Its location is convenient—about an 8-minute walk to the Spanish Steps and close to numerous restaurants and shops. The lobby is small but never feels crowded, and the desk attendants are friendly and helpful, even assisting us with securing reservations at a fantastic nearby restaurant. Breakfast each morning was a highlight, featuring a tasty buffet along with freshly made scrambled or fried eggs. I especially loved the cold Americana with almond milk—a truly magical cup prepared by the waiter every morning. Our room was comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious. Housekeeping kept everything immaculate, regularly refreshing the room with water and treats, and we were even gifted a complimentary bottle of wine. A small balcony with table and chairs provided a serene garden-like setting, complete with birdsong. While the hotel is a bit farther from attractions like the Colosseum and Vatican, arranging a cab made travel manageable, especially in the heat. For those seeking a peaceful, quiet retreat away from Rome’s crowds, Margutta 19 is an excellent choice.
"A quiet oasis in Roma!"
A wonderful “small luxury hotel” with great staff and a comfortable room. The hotel is tucked onto a quiet street, just minutes from excellent restaurants, the Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo, and the Borghese Gardens with stunning views of Rome. The reception staff attended to all our needs, and our balcony on the 4th floor overlooking the garden was a peaceful retreat—the only noise coming from colorful parakeets nesting in the palm tree. Breakfast buffet was excellent, and overall, this hotel delivers exactly what you pay for: comfort, charm, and attentive service in a perfect location.
"Good."
The hotel offers a good location and an excellent on-site restaurant with attentive service. However, some of the staff, including messengers and receptionists, could be a bit kinder. Our apartment on the 3rd floor was unfortunately located next to a storage door that was frequently opened and closed by housekeeping, creating constant knocking noises that disturbed our sleep in the morning. The hotel is otherwise quiet, but this early disruption was unpleasant and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay.
"A Hidden Gem!"
We loved this property—small, classy, quiet, and intimate, a true hidden gem. The location is unbeatable: tucked away on a quiet side street yet just steps from high-end shopping, dining, and all the action. The hotel’s design and interior decoration are clearly carefully considered, surpassing many five-star properties. Our deluxe suite was spacious, comfortable, and thoughtfully outfitted with high-quality materials. The staff were always courteous and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. Our only minor issues were with the shower, where the hot water wasn’t very hot and the faucet was tricky to operate, and the smoked salmon at breakfast, which was overly fishy and lacked typical accompaniments such as capers or lemon slices. These are small concerns in an otherwise exceptional stay, and we hope they are addressed, as we would love to return on a future trip.
"Great location"
This small hotel features a cozy restaurant, a compact reception, and comfortable rooms. Located on a beautiful, central street, the rooms are surprisingly spacious for Rome, and the bathtub with bath salts was a pleasant touch. Breakfast is very good, offering a satisfying start to the day. While the service does not fully meet five-star standards, the hotel is highly recommended for a short stay in Rome.
"Exceeds expectations"
From the excellent turndown service to the amazing breakfast, everything about our stay exceeded expectations. The hotel is tucked away from the city noise on the enchanting Via Margutta, offering a peaceful and charming atmosphere. With relatively few rooms, the staff is highly attentive, providing personalized service throughout our stay. The rooms and hotel are modern while still capturing the timeless charm of a classic Roman hotel, making for a truly memorable experience.
"So Close to Perfection."
I booked Margutta 19 using Hyatt points as a Globalist, and was pleasantly surprised by the size and comfort of our room—it was large, nicely appointed, and a delightful space for our stay. The staff were very professional, friendly, and attentive, from front desk to bell staff. Margutta 19 is wonderfully located on the quiet, picturesque Via Margutta, just a short walk from Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps, making it ideal for exploring Rome. Taxis are conveniently available nearby, and the continental breakfast was exquisite, featuring exotic fresh juices, fresh breads, pastries, and even a full slice of a beehive for honey—definitely a 10/10 experience. Some drawbacks, however, prevented a perfect stay. Our room was directly above the restaurant/lounge, and bass from the music leaked into our room at night. While the hotel did turn it down, the sound disturbed our sleep, especially on the first night. The mattress, although large, was extremely firm—far firmer than typical hotel beds. The bathroom, while spacious and beautiful, had cracked tiles that shifted underfoot, and sink drainage was slow. These are likely due to the building’s age, but they do impact the overall comfort. Despite these issues, Margutta 19 is charming, quiet, and very well-located, with excellent service and a fantastic breakfast. With attention to soundproofing, mattress comfort, and bathroom maintenance, it could easily become a truly outstanding hotel.
"Very comfortable and on a lovely street"
Our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable, especially when traveling with a friend. The room was private, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The only downside was the room service, which was surprisingly disappointing on our first night. However, in Rome, it’s easy to overlook this, as the city offers so many fantastic dining options outside the hotel.
"Great – but more like AIRBNB than hotel"
A lovely place to stay in a great location. We stayed in the building down the road from the main hotel, which worked perfectly for our family of four with teenage kids who needed a bit of space. The experience felt more like an Airbnb than a traditional hotel—there’s no full concierge service or instant support—but for us, that was fine. Arrival was a bit tricky since we had to pick up the key at a different location late at night. Despite this, the space was comfortable and convenient, and I would happily stay here again.
