"Perfect location"

This traditional hotel, built in the 1920s, offers a unique historic charm. While the rooms show their age—with some worn furnishings, flickering lamps, and damaged porcelain in the bathroom—the rooftop restaurant is a standout feature, providing excellent views over the square. The staff were very friendly, and the service throughout the hotel was top-notch, ensuring a pleasant stay despite the dated rooms. This hotel is ideal for travelers who appreciate history, character, and attentive service.

"Zocalo Gem"

We love staying at Hotel Majestic for our getaways. Housed in a beautiful historic building in the heart of Mexico City, it features a rooftop restaurant with fantastic views and large, comfortable rooms with attentive service. That said, this hotel isn’t for everyone. The Zócalo is lively and noisy, the internet can be spotty, and the historic building has its quirks. Waking up here reminds you that you’re truly in Mexico—a part of the hotel’s unique charm, though some travelers may prefer a quieter or more modern experience.

"A great hotel in the center of Mexico City."

An older hotel (1937) but well-maintained and ideally located in the Zocalo of Mexico City (CDMC) and the Centro Historico. All the staff are fluent in English polite and most helpful. The restaurant has an excellent buffet menu for all meals (perhaps more than older guests should eat). It's good to try to eat only twice a day! Reasonable prices and you get Best Western points. We'll stay there again.

"Rich and different"

This hotel offers a truly different experience, with a manually operated lift by staff adding charm and character. The rooms are large, and we enjoyed a lovely view of the church on the Zócalo. The rooftop restaurant and dining area are a highlight, offering fantastic views of the square and a beautifully decorated space to enjoy meals. The hotel itself features elegant and thoughtful décor throughout. The only downside was the poor Wi-Fi in the room, which could be frustrating for those needing reliable connectivity. Overall, a memorable stay in a central and historic location.

"Views like no other"

I stayed at this hotel last year and had a fantastic experience, but this time it fell short. Our shower had no hot water initially, and it took some time to get it fixed. The front desk staff seemed inattentive, and when my wife called for assistance, no one answered—she had to go down in person to get help. The elevator operator and the restaurant staff were the only friendly and accommodating team members we encountered. The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable, and the views remain spectacular—you have the Cathedral to your left and the Presidential Palace right in front. Being truly in the heart of Mexico City makes this hotel incredibly convenient, but inconsistent service made our stay less enjoyable than expected.

"Perfect location, historical, low cost then dont expect anything. Dont pay more than $100 a night."

Our room faced the plaza, which was perfect for people-watching and enjoying the city’s activity during the day—but made sleeping very difficult. On our first night, loud sounds coming from the plaza, possibly organized by local authorities, continued until 11:30 p.m. Despite notifying the front desk, we were told nothing could be done. The hotel could consider coordinating with city organizers to limit loud music past 10 p.m. for guests’ comfort. The room itself showed signs of age. Towels were worn, the bed was old, and even the key card holder/paper case was visibly overused, giving the impression it had been passed between guests for a long time. While the historic charm drew us to the hotel, some updates are needed to improve comfort. The elevator was a unique experience, reflecting the building’s age, and the slow internet made work or browsing frustrating. Overall, the hotel offers a historic experience with prime plaza views, but guest comfort and maintenance need attention.

"A room with a view"

This hotel’s prime location right on the Zócalo makes breakfast at La Terraza an unforgettable experience. The terrace offers beautiful views of the Cathedral and Plaza de la Constitución, adding charm and atmosphere to your morning meal. Being in the heart of historic Mexico City means you can easily walk to major attractions after breakfast, including the Metropolitan Cathedral, National Palace, museums, and shops. The open-air terrace is bright and inviting, perfectly complementing the colonial architecture of the building. For many guests, simply enjoying breakfast while observing the daily activity in the Zócalo—flag ceremonies, vendors, and people going about their day—is a highlight. You might even spot the president heading to her morning media conference!
