"We didn’t like it"

We visited this restaurant hoping to enjoy its renowned paella, but we were thoroughly disappointed. We ordered the fish paella, which was tasteless and lacked the artistry one expects—it felt like plain rice with pieces of fish simply scattered on top. As for the desserts, the Crema Catalana was far below expectations—I’ve had better even in Rome. The other dessert was practically inedible. Overall, the meal did not live up to the restaurant’s reputation.

"“ Tourist Trap!”"

We came here on recommendation, hoping for a good experience, but it fell short. The welcome was nice, and our initial waiter was charming and helpful, advising on wine and taking our order. After that, we barely saw him again. Bread was placed on the table without our order or explanation—and it turned out we were charged for it. Tapas arrived with no description, and the paella was served silently by a different waiter. When asking for the bill, the credit card machine was shoved at me with minimal words—just “Euro”—and no courtesy or acknowledgment. Overall, the service felt pompous and inattentive, and the experience comes across as a tourist trap. For the same money, there are plenty of better dining options in Barcelona.

"Disappointing Experience Despite Good Cuisine"

The cuisine was good, but the menu options were very limited. The restaurant itself is very small, and the atmosphere felt underwhelming. While the staff were friendly, the service came across as unprofessional. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I would not return.

"Same great quality as always"

My first visit in over eleven years, having been a regular while I worked in Barcelona, and nothing has changed. The food remains excellent, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere still wonderful. The menu is extensive, heavily focused on fish, with a selection of local dishes, regional classics, and some international favorites. The wine list is huge, and I was pleased with my choice, which complemented the meal perfectly. All five of us ordered different dishes, and everything arrived together, served exactly as it should be. We did splurge a little, and the bill came to €350—right at the top of my budget—but as a one-off experience, it was well worth it. A less extravagant choice would have made it more budget-friendly without compromising quality.

"Expectations greater than reality"

The restaurant is very charming and well-presented, but the food left much to be desired. While the jamón croquette was wonderful, dishes like the paella with soft rice, the cannelloni, and the cod were disappointing. Additionally, they require each guest to order a full dish, even if it’s just an appetizer, which feels restrictive.

"Paella gluten free"

A historic and elegantly atmospheric restaurant with adequate service. The paella was very good, and dining with celiac children was effortless—gluten-free options were readily available.

"Very slow service"

This restaurant is always very good, but be aware that Sundays are not ideal. With limited staff on weekends, the kitchen takes much longer to prepare dishes, no matter what you order. For a smoother experience, visit on weekdays when service is more efficient.

"Longing for old days"

The level here has dropped significantly. Both the service and the food have deteriorated. The croquettes were served cold, and the paella was lackluster, far from the quality it once offered. What used to be a great dining experience now feels like a trap for tourists.

"Good food and friendly service in a historic location"

A lovely historic spot with very friendly staff. I enjoyed an absolutely delicious tomato and sardine salad, followed by traditional paella—both excellent. While the selection of wines by the glass could be expanded, the ones I tried were very enjoyable. Most importantly, as a solo diner, I never felt like a second-class guest—a rare and appreciated touch.
