"Outstanding Modern Chinese Fine Dining Experience"
I had an incredible dining experience! The food was outstanding, with a fascinating combination of flavors and ingredients that showcased a modern twist on Chinese fine dining full of delightful surprises. The service was equally impressive — the staff were exceptionally friendly, warm, and attentive, making me feel right at home during my lunch visit. I can’t wait to return for another amazing meal! Highly recommend!
"Beautifully Crafted Dim Sum with a Modern Twist"
The dim sum here is beautifully crafted, with each dish prepared thoughtfully and with great care. While the flavors didn't quite match my personal taste—likely due to its fusion style rather than traditional Cantonese—the creativity blends well within London’s diverse and dynamic food scene. A great spot for those looking to try something a bit different!
"Great Food and Friendly Service, But Table Space Needs Improvement"
The food was excellent, and the service was kind and knowledgeable, yet it still fell short in some areas. The tables are too small to comfortably accommodate the plates during service, causing diners to constantly juggle plates, glasses, and other items to make room. This becomes quite frustrating and detracts from the overall experience. Given this, I'm surprised the restaurant holds two Michelin stars.
"Stylish Chinese-Inspired Dining with Flair"
The atmosphere here is great, and the staff are polite—though sometimes a bit over the top, but our waiter was a great sport overall. There was a little mishap when a waitress accidentally spilled a drink on my partner’s table, but it didn’t ruin the experience. The food is good but more of a reimagination than authentic Chinese cuisine. So, if you’re after traditional Chinese flavors, this might not be the place for you. However, if you enjoy dishes with Chinese influence presented in a fancy, creative way, this spot is perfect. We also had a very nice table, which definitely added to the overall experience.
"Mixed Experience at This Michelin-Starred Gem"
I've now dined here four times—twice when it held one Michelin star, and twice as a two-star restaurant (still holding two stars at the time of this review). My most recent visit was in November to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. While the food remained tasty and enjoyable as always, the atmosphere was a bit off this time. Unfortunately, during our meal, a nearby table had a disagreement with the waiting staff over minimum charges. The argument created a bit of a scene, and since the tables are placed relatively close together, it felt like we were unwittingly caught in the middle of the dispute. This was especially disappointing as it was my mother’s first time dining here, and the incident somewhat marred the special occasion. That said, the food maintained its high standard—delicious and beautifully presented. I managed to snap a few photos, including the must-try custard bun, which was as good as ever. Overall, I still recommend this restaurant for the food, but hopefully future visits will have a smoother ambiance.
"Impressive Service and Thoughtful Dishes, But Lacking the Wow Factor"
I celebrated my birthday at A. Wong, often regarded as the Louis Wonton of Chinese cuisine. With its 2 Michelin stars, the prices are quite steep. We opted for the tasting menu, which lasted over three hours and included around 20 courses — quite the marathon! Each dish was beautifully presented and delicious, clearly reflecting the chefs’ thoughtful craftsmanship. The standout for me was the Wagyu beef. The service was exceptional, probably the best I’ve ever experienced; the staff were passionate, informative, and attentive. On the downside, despite the meticulous attention to detail and generally great flavors, no dish truly blew me away — something I expect from a 2 Michelin star restaurant. The restaurant itself is small with a pleasant interior vibe, but our outside seating area felt rather plain and uninspiring. For the price, it didn’t quite leave a lasting impression, though it remains a decent experience worth trying occasionally.
