"The worst airline ever!"

Big Warning! This was by far the worst airline experience we’ve ever had. Everything—from start to finish—was a disaster. The staff were unfriendly, the baggage policy made no sense, and we were hit with hidden fees we weren’t informed about in advance. If you have a choice, do not book with this airline. Save yourself the stress and frustration.

"Pretty nice airline"

Air Malta is a solid airline—definitely a step above Ryanair. I flew the CTA–Luqa Malta route (about 50 minutes), and while no food or drinks were provided on such a short flight, the overall experience was smooth and positive. I was personally going through a tough time, having been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in June, and the stress was real. But the calm and efficient service onboard helped make the journey easier. Air Malta may not offer extras on short hops, but it delivers where it matters—clean cabins, smooth operations, and a more pleasant atmosphere overall.

"Appalling"

Our flight was abruptly cancelled in the summer of 2008 with no prior notice, no explanation, and no communication whatsoever. An entire flight’s worth of passengers was left stranded at an empty airport in the early hours of the morning, confused and frustrated. We had to take the initiative to call the airline ourselves just to find out what was going on. There was no apology, no assistance, and no compensation offered despite repeated requests. It completely ruined our holiday and showed a complete lack of responsibility or customer care. Truly unacceptable.

"A reasonable budget airline"

After booking our holiday through a tour operator and discovering that our flights were with Air Malta, I was initially concerned after reading some reviews. However, I felt compelled to write this review to share that our experience was overall fine – not outstanding, but certainly “fit for purpose.” While I can’t compare Air Malta to every airline, I’ve flown with other budget airlines, and Air Malta certainly outshone them. We did face an issue with their website when it came to booking seats. Despite reserving and paying for them online, the airline didn’t initially recognize the payment. I had to contact their customer service center, which was based in Malta, and while it was a bit inconvenient due to the cost of the call, the customer service representative was kind and efficient. She resolved the issue and even called me back once everything was sorted out. At the airport, everything went smoothly. The check-in process was hassle-free, and there were no issues with our baggage allowance. Both flights were comfortable, and as for the claims of uncomfortable planes, the aircraft were standard for the type of flight we had. We had no problems with luggage reclaim, and everything arrived on time and in good condition. Considering the price we paid for the flights, I don’t think we could have asked for more. It was a solid experience, and I would fly with Air Malta again, given the value for money.

"good airline no problems"

Our flight was on time and hassle-free, operated by a new Airbus A320 NEO – a pleasant and modern aircraft. The seats, however, were quite hard and thin. Aside from extra legroom and the middle seat being left empty, there wasn’t much added comfort over economy. Perhaps this is a trend among European airlines to save space. Business class food was decent – nothing exceptional, but acceptable for a short-haul flight. A three-course meal was served on a single tray, and while there was no Champagne, Prosecco and wines were available. Instead of hot or cold towels, wet wipes were provided. For a 3-hour flight, everything was delivered efficiently by the friendly crew. Overall, a smooth experience and I would fly with KM Malta Airlines again.

"DISGUSTING"

Booked my flight through Ryanair, only to find out at boarding it was actually operated by Air Malta—just like the other substitute carriers Ryanair uses. The experience was poor from the start. Cabin crew were unprofessional—chewing gum, ill-fitting uniforms (at one point I could practically see what one had for breakfast), and generally lacking basic manners. They passed through the cabin once to offer drinks and snacks, and again only once to collect rubbish. That was the extent of their service. The plane itself was dirty, with filthy seats and an overall neglected feel. Terrible staff, terrible airline—just another cheap Ryanair partner cutting corners at every opportunity. Avoid if you can.

"Air Malta is a basic airline"

The flight was smooth and uneventful—just how a short hop should be. Since it’s only a 30-minute route from Malta to Catania, don’t expect in-flight service, so I’d recommend bringing your own snacks, especially if you're flying in the morning. Boarding at Malta was quick and efficient, the seats were comfortable, and we had a great landing in Catania. Baggage claim was fast too, although I only had carry-on luggage. Air Malta does offer meals on longer routes, but this short flight doesn’t include anything, which is fair for the duration. Overall, it was a great experience, and at only €30 for the ticket, it was fantastic value for money.

"Good start to KM Malta Airlines"

This was my first time flying with KM Malta Airlines since their rebrand from Air Malta in April 2024, and I traveled in Business Class. Boarding was a bit of a hassle as the aircraft was parked quite far from the terminal. Despite plenty of available space closer to the terminal, the aircraft remained at a distance, which was puzzling. Once aboard and settled in, the cabin was clean and orderly, and the crew provided a good level of service. The breakfast served was particularly impressive, with generous portions that exceeded my expectations. However, the champagne offering could certainly use some improvement – it didn’t quite meet the standards expected in Business Class. All in all, it was a positive experience with KM Malta Airlines, and I would consider flying with them again, though there’s room for some enhancements in certain areas.

"European standard"

"Check-in at Terminal 4 was quick, and the staff were attentive and polite. They were able to seat our party of four together in one row, which was appreciated. Unfortunately, the flight was delayed by 1.5 hours, with no apologies offered on board. All onboard services were paid— not even a complimentary glass of water. However, food prices were reasonable. The seat pitch was very tight; at 179 cm tall, I was quite uncomfortable, and my Canadian friend, who is 6'3", described it as torture. The seat cushions were worn and lacked comfort, though this seems to be a common issue across many airlines nowadays. As a smoker, I appreciated that both Terminal 4 and Valletta Airport provided smoking areas. Note that in Valletta, there are no jet bridges—boarding is either via bus or by walking to the plane."

"Good Service While On Honeymoon"

"Overall, a good experience. I really enjoyed the lounge—especially the outdoor area where you can take in fresh, non-airconditioned air and watch a spectacular sunrise. Business Class service onboard was reasonably good, though the drink service felt a bit slow. Aside from that, everything was excellent!"
