"BAD customer service"

That’s really frustrating, especially when you’ve planned and saved for a special trip. It's disappointing when things like the special meal order are missed, and even more so when the response from the crew and customer service doesn’t acknowledge the inconvenience properly. It sounds like the airline didn’t handle the situation with the care or urgency it deserved. Offering £50 off another flight, when you're unlikely to fly within the year, feels like a token gesture that doesn’t really address the frustration of the experience. It’s understandable that you’re disappointed with their lack of genuine customer service. Hopefully, the rest of your trip went well, and it won’t completely overshadow what could have been a memorable experience. Have you considered sharing your feedback with American Airlines through a more formal complaint channel, or were you just looking to vent? Sometimes, that can lead to better resolutions, though it doesn’t always feel worth the effort.

"Overall Customer Service has DECLINED!"

Once upon a time, American Airlines used to be my favorite—but not anymore. I purchased an economy ticket, only to see the price drop significantly a month later. AA used to offer travel credit for the difference, but now they charge a $99 fee just to adjust your fare. Seriously?! Even airlines like Southwest, Frontier, and Spirit allow changes or credits without such a steep penalty. If I’m flying economy, I’ll be booking elsewhere from now on. Their delays are pretty average, legroom feels tighter, and while the flight attendants are generally pleasant, the overall experience just doesn’t feel worth it anymore. Yes, they may offer more frequent flights than others, but unfortunately, American Airlines is no longer my preferred choice.

"Just WOW, but not in a good way."

Rude, small-minded, and completely unprofessional. If I were the CEO of American Airlines, I'd seriously consider replacing the stale, arrogant attendants who seem to believe paying customers should be grateful for subpar service. When I politely asked for milk in my coffee, the flight attendant snapped, “I don’t work for Starbucks.” I doubt Starbucks would hire someone with that attitude. It makes me wonder—would a business or first-class passenger be treated with such contempt? I highly doubt it. Next time, I’ll fly with Singapore Airlines, where excellent service comes with a smile, not a side of condescension.

"Best airline"

That’s fantastic to hear! It’s refreshing to find an airline that truly goes above and beyond to make the travel experience easier, especially when things go wrong, like missing a flight. American Airlines really made an impact with their customer service, from rebooking your flight for free to being kind to your dog. It’s nice to hear that they stood out in an industry where service can sometimes feel lackluster. It must have been such a relief to have that level of support and flexibility. If they ever start allowing dogs as carry-ons to Europe, it would definitely be a game changer for pet owners. It sounds like you've found a loyal airline, and I’m sure many others would appreciate hearing about your positive experience too!

"A very good Dallas to Shanghai flight"

It sounds like your flight experience with American Airlines from Dallas to Shanghai went pretty smoothly, despite a couple of minor hiccups! It's great that your luggage made the connection without any issues, even though the gate information was a bit off in the communication. It's always reassuring when gate agents can help clear up confusion. Having exit row seats definitely makes long flights more comfortable, and it sounds like the entertainment system kept you entertained throughout the 14-hour journey. The food in coach, while never top-tier, was decent, and it’s nice to hear the service was efficient, even with the change in meal service order. American Airlines seems to have met your expectations overall, offering a friendly crew, good in-flight amenities, and a fair price. How was the rest of your trip? Did the good experience continue with your connection and the rest of your travels?

"Enjoy the ride!"

That’s amazing! It sounds like you’ve had some fantastic experiences with American Airlines over the years, especially with all your international business class flights. It's not every day you find an airline that keeps you coming back for decades. The consistency in service and reliability—like never having lost luggage—can make all the difference, especially when traveling long distances. It’s also interesting that you’ve flown with other major airlines like Qatar, British Airways, and Japan Airways, but it’s great to see that American Airlines holds a special place for you. Do you have a favorite part of flying with them, whether it’s the comfort, service, or something else that keeps you loyal?

"Bad experience"

Terrible customer service—staff showed no willingness to assist or care about our needs. Our flight was canceled, and the airline refused to offer any compensation for the disruption. If you have any other options, I strongly advise against flying with them.

"American Airlines Dublin Flight"

Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s great to hear that even with a 2-hour delay, the American Airlines staff—especially the employee at the gate—helped maintain a positive atmosphere. Friendly, professional service during delays can make a huge difference, and it sounds like both the ground and flight crews delivered well. Kudos to the pilot too for making up time in the air.

"Try another company"

That sounds incredibly frustrating—especially after booking so far in advance, paying extra for seats, and being a loyalty cardholder. An 8-hour layover, unhelpful rebooking policies, loud service, and a massive delay on top of it all would sour anyone’s experience. It’s even more disappointing when you’ve invested not only money but trust in an airline to handle your travel smoothly. Your experience highlights a key issue many travelers face: airlines often prioritize rigid fare rules over customer loyalty or common sense solutions. United being cheaper and offering better flexibility definitely makes your choice understandable going forward. Would you like help drafting a formal complaint to American Airlines or tips on escalating the issue further?

"Fine for what I paid for."

That’s frustrating—great flight experience undermined by baggage handling issues. It definitely sounds like the damage happened during ground handling, which unfortunately varies by airport. Boston Logan (BOS) does get occasional complaints for rough baggage treatment, so your suspicion may be right. You might want to report the damage directly to both the airline and Boston airport’s baggage services. If you still have receipts or photos of the damaged luggage, that can help with compensation.

"Sitting on the tarmac for hours and missing connecting flight"

Trying to get home to Asheville from Athens, Greece, turned into a terrible experience with American Airlines. We boarded on time in Athens but then sat on the tarmac for about an hour—tough when you’re cramped in a small seat on a long flight. After a long layover in Philadelphia, we boarded again, only to sit for another hour and 45 minutes because the co-pilot hadn’t arrived. It’s baffling that they allowed boarding without having a full crew ready. Once we finally departed, we faced a tight connection in Charlotte, but due to a 15-20 minute wait for the gate and jetway, we missed our final flight by 15 minutes. I expected the airline to assist us, but they simply rebooked us on a flight the next day, refusing to provide hotel accommodations or transportation, leaving us stranded late at night with no support despite these delays being their fault. Exhausted and frustrated, we had to hire a private shuttle since rental cars weren’t available. To top it off, we had to drive back to the Asheville airport the next day to retrieve our checked bags because American Airlines refused to deliver them. This dreadful ending ruined what had been a wonderful vacation.

"Horrible."

Thanks for sharing your experience—it sounds like the flight had its pros and cons. Decent service and a smooth flight can go a long way, but limited legroom and overpriced Wi-Fi are definitely frustrating, especially when you're already paying for a major airline experience. A $1 difference between half-flight and full-flight Wi-Fi pricing seems like a bit of a pricing trap too.

"They will check your carry-on"

Rude people in the airport counter and the boarding door. They never have space for your carry-on. So, if you have valuable objects, important medicines, an epipen, etc DO NOT put in in the carry-on. They don't care about you.

"A Pleasant Flight to Boston"

We had a very pleasant first class flight from Dallas to Boston aboard a Boeing 737-800. Despite the cold weather, the flight was on time and smooth throughout. The service provided by the flight attendants was excellent, making the journey comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, it was a great experience flying with American Airlines in first class.
