"Charming Ambiance and Skillful Dishes"

I chose to sit in the artsy space downstairs, which has a cute and inviting vibe. The last three savory dishes of the evening were outstanding, clearly showcasing the chef’s skills. The highlight of the night was the vegetable medley in beet sauce, with the beet tartare coming in as a close second. The sommelier also made some excellent wine recommendations, enhancing the overall experience.

"A Memorable, Vegetable-Focused Dining Experience"

Our four-hour dining experience at this restaurant was certainly unique. If you love vegetables, this is the place for you. While the dishes themselves were good rather than exceptional, the presentation and attention to detail made the meal worthwhile. We chose the Déjeuner menu, which was enjoyable, and a special highlight was having the opportunity to meet the chef at the end—a very nice personal touch. The desserts, however, were somewhat underwhelming. While I probably wouldn’t return, the experience was memorable and truly a once-in-a-lifetime culinary journey.

"A Fairytale Dining Experience in Paris"

This magical restaurant in the heart of Paris offers an unforgettable experience. The staff were wonderful, and we had the rare privilege of dining in their secret room above the wine cellar, which made the evening truly special. The décor feels straight out of a fairytale, with every corner brimming with charm and intricate detail. We opted for the tasting menu, and each dish was a masterpiece—both visually stunning and absolutely delicious. ✨ Fun fact: the restaurant’s wine collection is stored in a hidden cellar beneath the dining room, adding a delightful sense of discovery to the experience. If you’re visiting Paris, this isn’t just a dinner—it’s a full sensory journey you won’t want to miss.

"A Disappointing Tasting Experience at L’Arpège"

I had been excited to book a dinner at L’Arpège after seeing that the menu was almost entirely vegetarian. Leading up to our visit, I saw some polarizing reviews that nearly made me cancel—but in hindsight, I wish I had. The service and atmosphere were excellent, as expected, and we both opted for the 12-course tasting menu, which ultimately turned into 14 courses. Out of these, only three dishes truly impressed me and left a lasting impression. The rest, while visually interesting, fell flat or missed the mark entirely. Several plates had flavors that were too strong, like sage or an excess of leeks, and the salad portions were so large that my jaw was fatigued. The biggest issue was a lack of variety. Fourteen plates of mainly leeks, radishes, carrots, and asparagus—each prepared differently—felt repetitive. Standout dishes included a hummus, some purées, and a rhubarb dessert we weren’t even supposed to receive. On the other hand, the crème brûlée and beet tartare were particularly disappointing. While I recognize that some diners may truly enjoy this vegetable-focused approach, and it did make me reconsider how vegetables can be prepared, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend a visit when Paris offers so many other delightful dining options.

"A Stunning and Memorable Experience at the “Green House”"

After seeing the Chef’s Table episode, I knew we had to visit, and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were seated downstairs in the “Green House,” reportedly designed by Chanel, and it was truly beautiful. The food was remarkable—so much so that it made me consider going pescatarian or vegetarian if an amazing chef were cooking for me. The beet tower specialty was my favorite dish; I had no idea beets could taste this good. Non-alcoholic options were limited to a few types of lemonade, which is worth noting. The servers were incredibly attentive, though they don’t remove unused cutlery, which seemed a bit unusual to me. Meeting Chef Passard in person was a highlight—he was genuinely happy and engaging, and we even got to take photos with him.

"Shockingly Careless for a 3-Star Michelin Experience"

Our visit to this restaurant was an immense disappointment. One of my dishes arrived with paper stuck to the lettuce—minor, but surprising given the attention to detail expected at a Michelin-starred establishment. I didn’t raise it at the time, assuming mistakes can happen, but it set the tone for the evening. Dessert was even more troubling. Each of us received a single strawberry, which would have been fine—except mine was eaten through by a worm or bug. When I alerted the waiter, he barely listened and only brought a new strawberry, leaving the bug-eaten one on my plate. My rhubarb dish included a large, rough leaf, which I later learned was a rhubarb leaf—potentially toxic to humans. The waiter dismissed it, claiming it was fine because everything came from a farm. The staff’s dismissive attitude compounded the problems. Vegetables were placed on the tables instead of flowers—a beautiful idea—but the cauliflower at our table was crawling with aphids, leaving our table similarly infested. Proper rinsing or selection of easier-to-clean vegetables would have prevented this. As a vegetarian, I had been eager to visit, but the repeated carelessness, lack of attention, and indifferent staff overshadowed the few good dishes and serene atmosphere. This was, frankly, the worst 3-star Michelin meal I have ever experienced. It was not a matter of avant-garde, plant-based cooking—the issue was pure sloppiness and a lack of respect for diners. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

"A Celebration of Vegetables at L’Arpège"

L’Arpège is a sanctuary for those who truly appreciate vegetables, where each ingredient is allowed to shine in its purest form. Here, even a simple cherry tomato carries its own distinct personality. A radish carpaccio adorned with citrus caviar and fig leaf oil demonstrates the kitchen’s meticulous attention: every bite varies subtly depending on the layer of radish and the sweep of herb oil. The brilliance of the cuisine lies in its restraint. Flavors don’t demand attention—they quietly reveal what vegetables can truly taste like. Nothing is over-seasoned, nothing masked. Bitterness is presented as a feature, not a flaw, and even unexpected pairings like leeks with pears create textures and harmonies that feel revelatory. Dining here challenges your perception of everyday cooking. Vegetables, often relegated to a side role, are elevated to the spotlight. A ripe heirloom tomato with burrata can be as compelling as the finest dry-aged steak—the “better” taste is a matter of perception, guided by the care and creativity behind it. Although my visit came two weeks later than my birthday, the meal felt like a celebration. Chef Alain Passard’s personal touch left a lasting impression: he gathered all the chestnuts from the tables that day and gave them to me to share with my partner, a gesture I will never forget. At L’Arpège, every detail—from ingredients to service—turns a meal into an unforgettable experience.

"Exceptional Cuisine, Main Floor Energy Recommended"

The food here is incredible, and the overall experience is truly special. We were seated in the downstairs salon, which felt a bit isolated and lacked the lively energy of the main floor. While the service and menu were technically the same, we noticed options like a spirit cart and opportunities to interact with the chef on the main floor. We would definitely return, aiming to enjoy the unique menu from a more central, vibrant spot.

"A Timeless Culinary Masterpiece"

One of the most incredible restaurants in the world—forever current, consistently delicious, and truly inimitable. I have had the pleasure of dining here over ninety times, and it remains one of my favorite places anywhere. Every visit is an unmissable experience for anyone in Paris and beyond. Classics like the lobster, the millefeuille, and the turbot are simply unforgettable and must be tasted to be fully appreciated.

"Unique Vision but Not Worth a Return"

L'Arpège is undeniably unique, offering a modern and simple interpretation of vegetables that is both creative and tasty. Meeting Chef Alain at the end was a nice personal touch. However, there were some service flaws, such as a dirty glass, and the tasting menu, priced at over 400€ per person, felt difficult to justify. Overall, it’s worth experiencing his singular culinary vision, but personally, I would not return.
