"Pitched well"

This was my third visit, and it’s always a pleasure coming back. The vibe and décor are very cool, creating a great atmosphere. The set menu is well thought out and priced sensibly. I tried the barbecue chicken as an extra, and it was definitely worth it. The staff are always friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better.

"For the palate and eye"

We visited Atoboy spontaneously and were lucky to find seats at the bar without a reservation. The restaurant is small and simply modern, yet delivers refined dishes that impress both the palate and the eye. The bar team matches the kitchen in skill, serving drinks that elevate the experience even further. Atoboy in New York is a must for anyone seeking exceptional, modern Korean cuisine.

"Innovative Korean"

I love the name of this place as much as its interior—simple yet elevated. The set menu is one of the most affordable acclaimed meals in the city, and it really delivers. The sea urchin, though the smallest dish, ended up being my absolute favorite. I’d also highly recommend adding on the fried chicken—it’s fantastic. Service was warm, welcoming, and attentive, rounding out a truly enjoyable dining experience.

"Pretty good!"

We managed to snag a Sunday night reservation and were seated about 15 minutes after our time. The setting is very no-frills—think hard plastic chairs and utensils in a canister—but the focus is clearly on the food. Most dishes leaned into a Korean twist, with the exception of a few like the curry cod, which was our least favorite. Everything else was solid, and the highlight for us was actually the starter snack—the uni jjim. I could have eaten a whole bowl of it! Dishes came out quickly, almost too quickly, so we asked the staff to slow the pace a bit to enjoy the later plates hot. For $75 including service (plus the fried chicken add-on), it was a satisfying and filling meal.

"Creative and inspired"

The title of this review probably doesn’t match the rating. We loved the food however the service was too stark for our liking. Sadly we could only book a 5:30pm or a 9:30pm table as the earlier booking didn’t suit our schedule we had to opt for the latter. We’re on a gastronomic tour of New York and we didn’t want to miss out on the best that Manhattan has to offer. The server at Cote recommended a visit to Atoboy and as it s been on our wish list since last year we couldn’t miss it. On arrival we were asked if we wanted a drink while waiting for a table to be cleared. We agreed however it was the only drink we were offered throughout our dining experience. It was all so quick. We ate our entire meal, paid and left in less than a hour! We felt rushed since the announcement that the kitchen was closing. It is such a shame as we honestly loved the food. The food was creative, inventive and inspired. Loved the small plates as you get to taste a lot of different flavours and dishes. The interior is sleek, minimalist with exposed polished concrete.

"Interesting news!"

Definitely an unconventional spot! The drinks were outstanding, and the tasting menu was very well done. Absolutely worth a try if you’re in the Big Apple!

"Amazing experience!"

“Atoboy is a Korean-inspired restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Junghyun Park (of Atomix), offering a $75 prix fixe menu based on the concept of banchan—small side dishes traditionally served with rice in Korean cuisine. The experience was superb from start to finish. Each dish was creative, innovative, and beautifully balanced—a true work of art where every ingredient played an equal role, working together in harmony. I’d call it an ‘Atopalate’ (Ato meaning ‘gift’). The service was impeccable—friendly, professional, and never intrusive. If you’re in New York, Atoboy is absolutely worth a visit.”

"KoreanTasting Menu Bargain."

Atoboy in the Flatiron District truly lives up to its name—it’s inspiring. The decor leans toward minimalism, with cafeteria-style seating, exposed stone walls, and simple wooden tables, but the beautifully plated dishes more than make up for the pared-back ambiance. A glance at the menu shows a lineup of creative fare such as octopus with chimichurri and potato or duck with chanterelle and quince. I opted for the signature fried chicken with peanut sauce, which was outstanding. The tasting menu, featuring a progression of small plates that highlight Atoboy’s modern Korean flavors, is an excellent value and a great way to experience the range of what the kitchen has to offer.

"Fantastic!!"

“A-mazing!!! I always research restaurants for unique experiences and great food, and this place hits on all cylinders. We added the octopus and fried chicken to the tasting menu—both were excellent—but the real standout was the squash with its insanely delicious foam. Our waiter Jude was a blast, and the sommelier helped us pick a fantastic bottle of wine that even came in under budget. The understated interior and exterior only add to the restaurant’s mystique. My only small critique is that the dishes came out a bit too quickly; while portions are small, the meal adds up fast and was a lot to enjoy in just about an hour. Can’t wait to go back!”
