"Unnecessary Detour and Poor Service on Zagreb–Rijeka Bus"
On November 18, 2024, the 7:55 a.m. bus from Zagreb to Rijeka, which was supposed to travel directly, made an unexpected detour to Fužine at the request of a passenger. This added around 20 minutes on winding roads with no consultation or consideration for the other 40+ passengers on board. There was no toilet break, and the detour caused unnecessary discomfort. Overall, this was a poorly managed and inconvenient service.
"Unreliable Bus Schedule"
The buses are frequently late, and even when they arrive early, they often depart immediately instead of waiting until the scheduled time shown on the website. This makes planning travel unreliable and frustrating.
"Extremely Poor Service – Avoid This Bus Company"
If I could, I would give this company negative stars. As someone of Croatian heritage, I find this bus service an embarrassment. Buses are always late, often make no stops on long routes, and drivers mock passengers who don’t have exact change for luggage. The staff are generally rude, and the company tends to overbook buses. I strongly advise booking with another bus company to avoid wasting time and money.
"Simple and Satisfactory"
The experience was okay—nothing exceptional, but acceptable for the purpose.
"Exceptional Service Experience"
The service was truly outstanding—efficient, friendly, and reliable. A thoroughly superb experience overall!
"Frustrating Extra Luggage Fees and Unfriendly Staff"
There is still an additional charge for luggage when boarding the bus, and it can only be paid in cash. When I offered the driver a 20-euro bill, he yelled at me and directed me to a kiosk to get change, saying things like, “Why are you standing there with that money? You should have already changed it twice. I don’t have to help you—bring exact change.” It’s 2024, and this practice is outdated and frustrating. Autotrans should consider including luggage fees in the ticket price to prevent passengers from being shouted at or hassled simply for not having exact change. The current system is unprofessional and unnecessary.
"Lack of Transparency and Concern for Driver Experience"
If you ask about a driver’s daily wage, you should receive a clear answer. Instead, the response often refers to regulations—which are then not made available when requested. This lack of transparency shows disrespect toward drivers and contributes to the shortage of experienced personnel. The company seems to prioritize hiring drivers without experience, sometimes advertising that experience isn’t necessary. In reality, experience and driving skills are crucial for the safety and comfort of passengers, as well as for vehicle maintenance, operating costs, and longevity. Ensuring well-trained, fairly compensated drivers should be in the mutual interest of both the company and its staff.
