"Helpful Staff but Unreliable Train Timing"
On 14-07-25, I missed my connecting train from Crewe because this train was always late. I will never travel on it again. It was the worst part of my journey. The staff were very helpful, kind, and polite, but the train’s timing was absolutely unacceptable.
"Comfortable and Recommended for a Special Treat"
Avanti West Coast offers a good and comfortable standard premium class experience. Definitely recommended if you’re looking to treat yourself occasionally.
"Overbooked, Greedy, and Disrespectful to Passengers"
This company should be ashamed of how they overbook trips, overpromise on luggage space, and constantly overstaff every journey. I’ve traveled to Edinburgh multiple times, and there’s never enough space for checked luggage, leaving it to sit on the seat next to me — and it’s the conductor’s responsibility to resolve the issue, often at the expense of other passengers. The company is greedy and sets a terrible example of how train travel should operate. My advice: either provide more or larger luggage spaces or stop overbooking trips. Expectation vs. reality is unacceptable. I will be filing formal complaints to every relevant authority along your route until this is addressed. If possible, seek alternative travel options — this company clearly does not prioritize passenger experience.
"Good Legroom but Hot and Slightly Delayed"
I took this train from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly 7 hours ago. The legroom was good, but there were no air conditioners, and I was sweating! We were also delayed by 16 minutes, which isn’t terrible, but Avanti could certainly do better.
"Terrible Experience – Broken AC, Leaks, and Delays"
If I could give zero stars, I would. My first ride from London to Penrith was absolutely terrible. Many railcars had broken air conditioning, water was dripping through the ceiling, and the train was delayed by a full hour. Had we not already purchased the tickets, we would never have used this service. Not recommended at all.
"Staff Helpful but Lack of Drinking Water on Trains"
I appreciate the efforts of the staff, but passengers need reliable access to drinking water. The refill machines rarely work — on my train to Glasgow Central (8:40 from Euston), it was briefly operational but then turned off by staff for no apparent reason. This is frustrating and needs improvement.
"Unreliable Service with Overcrowded and Dirty Trains"
The internet doesn’t work on any device, and train delays are constant. Only the first-class seats are comfortable, while the rest of the train is often dirty and overcrowded, making the overall experience unpleasant.
