"Check-in service/staffs are very slow"
I was very disappointed with the check-in service. It’s unclear whether the issue was with Bamboo Airways or the Sydney Airport staff handling the check-in, but the process was extremely slow. Both economy and business class passengers faced long delays, with each check-in taking 20 to 40 minutes. The staff seemed to struggle with the process and lacked coordination, leading to long lines where passengers had to wait over two hours just to check in. Overall, the experience was frustrating and poorly managed.
"Don’t book with Bamboo Airways"
Poor service all around — avoid at all costs. The small savings aren’t worth the stress and frustration. Do yourself a favor and choose a more reliable airline.
"Surprisingly good"
The plane was modern and the flight was on time, exactly what you’d expect from a budget airline in a modern country. The seats were standard, nothing to complain about. The only downside was the lack of inflight entertainment, which is pretty common for budget airlines. Overall, it was much better than Vietjet and well worth the small extra cost
"Bamboo Airways changed our flight time without warning"
Terrible customer service. Our connecting flight with Bamboo Airways was rescheduled 9 hours earlier without notice, making it impossible to catch. We were stranded overnight in Ho Chi Minh City with no compensation or assistance from the airline. Despite follow-up emails, they refused to reimburse any costs. Completely unprofessional — avoid if you value reliability and accountability.
"Honestly a great experience"
I was originally booked on Bamboo through Expedia and was notified of a flight change that didn’t work for me. I spent a week trying to resolve the issue with Expedia without success, and was close to canceling my entire trip. In desperation, I decided to contact Bamboo directly via email support just a few days before my holiday, not expecting much since I had booked through a third party. To my surprise, they resolved everything within 2 hours! I was booked in economy from Sydney (SYD) to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), and while I had an issue with a broken tray table in my seat, it was quickly addressed. The food on board was impressively good, possibly some of the best airline food I've had. On the return flight from SGN to SYD, I upgraded to Business Class at a very reasonable price. The service in Business was impeccable, and the upgrade was well worth it. I’ve seen some poor reviews, but my experience was excellent, so I might have just gotten lucky. Either way, I would definitely fly with Bamboo again. It seems that the quality of the flight might depend on the aircraft as well.
"Scammy budget airlines in Vietnam will extort you"
Pre-booked a roundtrip flight from Ho Chi Minh to Da Nang on Priceline, only to be denied boarding because my middle name wasn’t included on the ticket. Despite clearly matching my passport and offering additional ID, Bamboo Airways refused to let me fly “for security reasons.” This kind of strict technicality felt more like a scam than actual security. I’ve traveled extensively and have never had an issue like this before. To make matters worse, I was told the only solution was to buy a completely new roundtrip ticket on the spot—no option to correct the name or pay a minor change fee. I had no choice but to overpay or miss my trip entirely. This follows another bad experience with a different budget Vietnamese airline that double-charged me for checked luggage, so it really makes me question the ethics of these operations. Ridiculous policy, zero flexibility, and terrible customer service. Never flying Bamboo again.
"reject elder and infant on priority line checking"
Great onboard experience overall — definitely better than Vietnam Airlines in terms of service, seat comfort, and food (we were served 3 meals vs. 2 on Vietnam Airlines). However, I’m giving 2 stars due to a major issue at Sydney Airport. The ground manager denied access to the priority line for families with young children and elderly passengers, saying 'if the flight has 150 children, we have to serve you all?' — while we had a crying 12-month-old in our arms. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, especially in Australia where family and elder care are taken seriously. Until Bamboo Airways aligns its ground staff policies with basic human courtesy and local norms, I cannot recommend it fully.
"Internal system flaws but passengers must pay it. Horrible!!"
Bamboo Airways has serious system issues. They swapped my middle and family names, then claimed my booking had the wrong name order and demanded I pay 108,000 VND just to fix it — or be denied boarding. I later found others had the same issue. On top of that, a male check-in agent was rude, accusing me of not buying luggage or lounge access (which I had). Thankfully, a professional female staff member stepped in. But overall, this airline makes you pay for their mistakes. I’ll never fly with Bamboo again.
"Luggage scam?"
The overall experience with Bamboo Airways was okay, but one issue stood out. I had paid in advance for extra luggage weight, yet at check-in, there was no record of it. The airline representative told me I needed to "prove" the payment, which came across as standard practice rather than a one-time error. Fortunately, I had the email receipt and a working data connection, so I could resolve the issue. While it may have been a mistake, the way it was handled left a bad impression. I’ll avoid flying with Bamboo Airways in the future.
"Scammers and thieves"
Like many others, I feel completely scammed by Bamboo Airways. It’s been almost a year since my flight was cancelled, and I’m still waiting for a refund. Despite countless follow-up emails, they’ve now stopped responding altogether. It’s honestly shocking that they’re still allowed to operate — they’ve taken money from so many customers without delivering the service promised, and show absolutely no accountability. This is theft, plain and simple. Avoid this airline at all costs.
"SCAM AIRLINES"
No refund evenwhen they confirmed by email. Keep sending email but they never reply. It has been 3 months already. Terrible customer service!!!
"All flights canceled or delayed"
Second time flying with them, and it’s the same story as the first—delays and cancellations seem to be the norm. Sure, the tickets are cheap, but be prepared to arrive hours later than planned. If punctuality matters to you, this airline might not be the best choice.
"It is not THE Worst Airline – this is not an airline this is a SCAM!!"
This was hands down my worst travel experience. I booked a flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat—and ended up with nothing: no ticket, no flight, no refund, and zero communication. Despite promises to submit a claim for reimbursement, it’s been two years with no resolution. Visiting the airport information desk only led to more runaround and a phone number that never works. It’s clear they’re only in business to scam passengers. Even if you find a ‘bargain’ fare, it’s not worth the stress or the money you’ll lose. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company.
