"Tasty Tapas but Left Hungry and Light on Cash"

Dropped by on a whim after hearing this place was a must-visit. They don’t take bookings, so I expected a wait and ended up queuing for about 30 minutes—not bad. The staff were friendly and managed to seat me at the kitchen bar, which was fun for watching the chefs at work, though note there are no actual tables. The tapas selection was extensive, but the wine list was surprisingly limited. Unfortunately, by the time I sat down (around 9pm), half of the specials board was already sold out, which was disappointing. That said, the food I did have was beautifully presented and genuinely delicious. My only gripe? The portion sizes were small, and after spending over £40, I left still feeling a bit hungry. Worth checking out for the quality, but maybe not the best spot if you're looking for a truly satisfying meal.

"Fantastic Spanish Tapas Near Shangri-La with Top-Notch Service"

We visited this gem on the recommendation of our Shangri-La concierge, and it did not disappoint! Just a short walk away, the lively atmosphere at the counter made for a fun dining experience. The highlight was the whole sea bream special—cooked perfectly and served with a delicious sauce. Our server Fernanda was amazing, expertly deboning the fish for us and offering excellent recommendations throughout the meal. We also enjoyed the lamb and croquetas, both bursting with flavor. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic, delicious Spanish tapas!

"Cozy Tapas Spot with Flavorful Highlights"

Stopped by for dinner with my mom on our first night in town and had a lovely experience overall. We arrived early around 5:30 PM and were seated right away, though not at the counter where you can usually watch the chefs — something I’d try for next time. We shared a few dishes: the ham & cheese croquettes and seafood rice were definite standouts — both packed with flavor and cooked beautifully. The patatas bravas came drenched in sauce, which made them soggy if not eaten quickly. As for the lamb special, it was decent but didn’t leave a lasting impression. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a cozy, diner-style setup that brings a casual charm to the tapas experience. Service was friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive vibe. A great spot to ease into a trip — I’d come back to try more of their specials.

"Fun Atmosphere, But Tapas Fell Short of Expectations"

Barrafina offers a vibrant, up-close dining experience with bar seating wrapped around the open kitchen — a definite highlight for those who enjoy watching the culinary process unfold. The space is clean, well-lit, and creates an intimate buzz as diners interact with the chefs. That said, the food didn’t quite meet expectations. While we sampled a wide variety of tapas, most dishes leaned heavily on similar flavor profiles and textures, leaving the experience feeling a bit one-note. The standout was the soft shell crab — a clever nod to Asian flavors with soy and green onion that added welcome contrast. Unfortunately, other dishes missed the mark. The much-recommended tortilla was underwhelming with a mushy filling and little seasoning. Pork belly lacked the expected tenderness, and the fried tuna was overwhelmed by its oily coating. On a more positive note, the chicken croquetas were crisp, creamy, and worth ordering. Overall, Barrafina delivers in terms of atmosphere and concept, but for us, the flavors didn’t quite live up to the hype.

"Delicious Tapas in a Lively Setting – Book Ahead!"

My coworker and I made a reservation at this Barrafina (important to note there are several locations), and we’re so glad we did—this spot fills up fast due to limited seating. The atmosphere was bustling, energetic, and clearly popular for good reason. We tried a selection of tapas and found everything to be solidly good, with a few standout dishes—though it’s hard to make specific recommendations since the menu rotates regularly with fresh seasonal items. Shoutout to Charlie, who provided excellent service despite the hectic pace. Definitely a great spot if you're looking for lively vibes and well-executed tapas—just make sure to reserve in advance!

"Overall a decent dining experience."

Enjoyed a casual meal here served tapas-style. While many of the dishes were flavorful, I found some to be overly salty for my taste—especially the eel rice, which was a bit of a sodium bomb. On the flip side, the tortilla was deliciously savory and well balanced. Service was a little underwhelming—nothing major, just not particularly attentive—but we were too hungry and tired to mind much. The cozy “sit-at-the-counter” setup adds a charming, laid-back vibe. Overall, worth a return visit—especially to try out some of their specials.
