"Dangerous Driving Practices — Tailgating Needs to Stop"

Can someone please explain to your drivers that tailgating a car in a double solid lane does not make the truck in front move any faster? It only puts your passengers and others on the road in danger. Such reckless behavior is unacceptable and needs to be addressed urgently to ensure passenger safety.

"Misleading Tour Description but Good Driver Service"

We booked a one-day Ocean Big Five tour, but it turned out to be only half a day, unlike what was stated on the official website. It was disappointing to find out that we were actually transferred to another ocean travel agency for the trip. While the driver’s service was excellent and professional throughout, the tour details did not match the official description, which made the experience feel misleading.

"Great Experience Traveling the Garden Route with Bazbus"

We had a wonderful experience with Bazbus! Traveling the Garden Route for a couple of weeks was convenient, enjoyable, and stress-free. The office team was always available and easy to reach whenever we needed to make changes. It’s just a pity we couldn’t continue further to the Wild Coast, Drakensberg, or Johannesburg — that would have made the trip even better!

"Disorganized Experience with BazBus"

We faced quite a few logistical challenges when dealing with BazBus. They subcontracted our transport and tour to another company, which created confusion. While everything eventually worked out, there was a lot of incorrect and unclear information provided by BazBus at the start, making the experience more stressful than it needed to be.

"Disappointing Experience — Not Worth the Cost"

As much as I’d like to recommend BazBus, I simply can’t. While the drivers are friendly and do their job of getting you from point A to B, the service lacks the experience promised. There are no scenic stops or photo opportunities, just direct transfers. I spent $300 for 3 weeks, and honestly, unless you’re hopping between towns every couple of days, Uber or taxis might be cheaper. What’s worse, I missed out on a wine train experience because BazBus canceled my pickup without any notice, claiming they don’t operate certain days during low season to cut costs. I had to pay for another bus, which was also canceled. Overall, it was a disappointing and poorly managed experience — definitely not the kind of quality or reliability you’d get with a company like Peru Hop.

"No Longer the BazBus We Once Knew — A Complete Disappointment"

They are NOT at all the BazBus services we knew and trusted for years. The company should not be using the same name that was once synonymous with adventure, community, and reliable backpacker travel. The original BazBus built its reputation as the most convenient, cost-effective, and social tourism option — connecting travelers through scenic routes, local food spots, backpacker lodges, and vibrant communities across the coast. Unfortunately, the “new” BazBus has completely lost that identity. It’s no longer a true hop-on hop-off tourism service, but rather a standard bus and day tour operation. They no longer cover the full coastal routes they once did, and their website and app are outdated and confusing, making planning a hassle. It’s disappointing to see a once-beloved travel icon reduced to this. The company should rebrand under a different name and motto so as not to mislead tourists, hikers, backpackers, and locals who still associate “BazBus” with the great travel experience it used to represent.

"Mixed Experience — Poor Coordination but Excellent Drivers from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town"

I booked the route from Durban to Cape Town, but unfortunately, the first part of the trip was very disappointing. In Durban, the pickup was over two hours late. When I contacted the company, I was told it was due to traffic — even though the scheduled pickup was at 7 a.m. and the driver arrived close to 9 a.m. However, when the driver finally showed up, he admitted that the delay was because “the car was dirty and needed cleaning.” Clearly, both explanations couldn’t be true. It felt like a lack of respect for passengers, as they could have simply informed me in advance instead of leaving me waiting outside my hostel that long. In Coffee Bay, the situation was even worse. I waited three more hours at a gas station. Once again, customer service claimed it was due to traffic, but the driver later confessed the car had broken down. All passengers confirmed that the delay had already started from the departure point. The driver looked exhausted and often used his phone while driving — texting, buying phone credit online, and chatting on WhatsApp — which raised serious safety concerns. The vehicle from Durban to Port Elizabeth was also extremely uncomfortable, with seats not suitable for such long journeys. The positive part of my trip started after Port Elizabeth. The drivers from there onward were fantastic — especially Elvis, who was punctual, friendly, and kept the group entertained throughout the journey. The second driver, Brian (if I recall correctly), was also professional and polite, sharing interesting facts about the places we passed. They truly made the final stretch enjoyable and restored some confidence in the company. Overall, I would rate the Durban to Port Elizabeth leg 1 star, and the Port Elizabeth to Cape Town leg 4 stars. The company needs major improvements in communication, punctuality, and safety standards — but their later drivers deserve full credit for their professionalism and attitude.
