Belmond La Résidence d’Angkor

"Two day hotel review"
Great contemporary hotel in a convenient location (though note there was some building work going on next door). Rooms and beds were very spacious and well set out. Breakfast was a bit sparse, but service made up for it—special thanks to Chan on the front desk who was very helpful. The bar was well stocked with friendly, attentive staff. Overall, a very nice stay.
"Service Needs To Catch Up With the Ambience"
The hotel complex is stunning, surrounded by lush vegetation that creates a jungle-like feel right in the middle of the city. Our room was spacious, luxurious, and offered great views of the magnificent pool (definitely recommend a pool-view room). The ponds around the complex add to the relaxing atmosphere. Based on its beauty alone, I’d easily rate this hotel a 5. However, the service doesn’t quite match the impressive infrastructure. While the staff are very friendly and helpful, they tend to wait for requests rather than take initiative. Some additional training on anticipating guest needs would truly elevate the experience and make it as exceptional as the property itself.
"Lovely property"
This Belmond property offers a charming lodge-style experience and is probably one of the nicest hotels in the area, though it feels more like a four-star property. The rooms are spacious, equipped with AC and ceiling fans, and feature a nice patio with a table, chairs, and a covered cabana. Be mindful that the mattress is narrower than the bed, so getting in and out requires a bit of care. The hotel is close to town—an easy walk or a $2 tuk-tuk ride. Breakfast offers a good variety of foods, and the property itself is very well maintained and attractive. We would happily stay here again.
"Angkor Wat"
We had the misfortune of staying at the property during the water festival, which we were not informed about at the time of booking. The noise was extremely loud every night for our entire 3-day stay, making it difficult to relax. It would have been helpful if the hotel had notified guests in advance about the event.
"Worth staying but get a quiet room away from traffic"
This hotel is authentic and delightful. Our room was large and spacious, featuring a modern shower and a very comfortable bed. The location is close to the center of town, making it easy to explore and within walking distance to Mali’s for an excellent dinner. While traffic noise is noticeable at times, especially during breakfast, it didn’t disturb our sleep. Being central also means the air quality can be a little affected, but overall, the convenience and comfort of this hotel make it a great choice.
"Superb hotel but with extortionate food and drink prices."
The rooms are excellent—spacious, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The swimming pool is a real highlight, and service throughout our stay was attentive. Breakfast offered great quality and plenty of choice. However, two major issues let the hotel down. First, during my stay, someone outside with a microphone ranted all day long, completely ruining the peace and tranquility of the property. Second, like many Belmont hotels in Asia, the prices for food and drinks are shockingly high—easily ten times what you would pay just outside the hotel. I’d recommend enjoying the facilities here but heading out for food and drinks to get far better value.
"Excellent Choice for the Area"
We stayed here in February and really enjoyed our time. The resort is comfortable, clean, and well located. The breakfast buffet offers a nice variety of local dishes, and the pool is clean and inviting. The staff are professional, friendly, and always welcoming. Overall, a very pleasant stay.
"Lovely hotel, terrible food!"
This is a beautiful old hotel with lovely service. We especially enjoyed the pool and garden setting, which creates a relaxing atmosphere—at least until the noise, both outside and inside the rooms, breaks the peace. The biggest disappointment was the evening buffet, which was possibly the worst food I’ve had at a five-star property. For the price, you’ll find much better options in Siem Reap.
"our stay Siem Reap"
This is a very nicely appointed hotel in a great location. The lobby is spectacular, breakfast was excellent, and it’s easy to get to the marketplace from here. The martini bar was a highlight, serving delicious tapas at great value. Overall, a wonderful stay.
"A few flaws"
The 3-star rating reflects the very high standards one expects of Belmond (not to mention the cost). Unfortunately, the main disappointment was the breakfast—it felt underwhelming for a hotel of this quality. The selection of fruit and breads was very limited, service of hot drinks was slow, and portions (such as butter) were almost comically small. On the positive side, the rooms are beautiful and very well designed. The swimming pool is truly lovely, the location is excellent—close to the center of town yet still quiet—and the staff in the bar, poolside restaurant, and reception were all terrific. I would happily stay here again, but next time I’d skip breakfast and go out instead.
"Nice hotel, but way too expensive by Cambodia standard"
There’s no doubt that Belmond La Résidence d’Angkor is a very nice hotel in a fantastic location by the river, within walking distance to the Old Market and Pub Street. The grounds are beautifully kept, the pool is lovely, and the rooms are spacious and clean (though a bit lacking in character). Breakfast is very good, and service is excellent. That said, paying US$300–500 per night in Siem Reap feels excessive. You can easily find excellent boutique hotels or international chain properties for under US$150—or even closer to US$100. While Belmond delivers quality, the marginal benefit of paying an extra US$150–350 per night simply doesn’t justify the price, especially in the local context. Still, just my personal opinion.
"Modern Luxury Reimagined"
What a refreshing experience to find a place that truly understands modern luxury. The tech integration was seamless yet unobtrusive, sustainability efforts were genuine without feeling overdone, and the service struck the perfect balance between attentive and respectful. Breakfast options were excellent, catering to both traditional and adventurous tastes.
"An oasis in the midst of Siem Reap"
La Résidence grows on you. While the layout feels a bit haphazard, it doesn’t take away from the experience. The staff are fabulous, breakfast is superb, the pool area is lovely, and the rooms are comfortable (if not ultra-luxurious). The location is also perfect for exploring Siem Reap.
"Marvellous experience at a fantastic hotel and spa"
The whole hotel is amazing! Two restaurants (a gourmet fine dining option and a more casual one), three bars, two pools, and a lovely spa with excellent treatments. The grounds and décor are stunning, and the staff are warm, gracious, and always helpful. The property is actually split into two facilities across the street. One side is more sophisticated with a chic black-and-white palette, striking artwork, and a pool cooled by a wall of cascading water. The other side is more casual, with a larger pool in full sun (almost bathwater-warm!) and bigger rooms overlooking it. Dining was excellent — the fine dining four-course menu was fabulous, while the casual restaurant was better for lunch than dinner. A few downsides: The room lighting system is overcomplicated, with switches everywhere and a master switch that even shuts off the air conditioning. Poor design! The beautiful stone shower is dangerously slippery — sanding it down would make a huge difference in safety. The beds are extremely hard. Many guests complained of waking up with numb arms and hands. Despite these quirks, I would absolutely stay here again when visiting Siem Reap. A fantastic place overall!
"Enjoyed our stay"
We really enjoyed the wonderful breakfast buffet and relaxing by the pool. The hotel is beautiful, with great service—always welcoming us back from tours with cool towels. The location is easy and convenient for exploring Siem Reap.
"Very enjoyable and beautiful."
We truly enjoyed our stay at Le Residence in Siem Reap. The property is beautiful, the rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed. The restaurant food was nice, though not outstanding. What really stood out was the service — the staff were very attentive, kind, and always helpful.
"Excellent Hotel!"
Staying at Belmond was a wonderful experience. Check-in and check-out were hassle-free, and the location is great—just a 10-minute walk to Pub Street and the Old Market, with bikes available to explore the city. The Front Office team did a fantastic job. I had a minor issue with the bathtub water being yellow, likely due to the pipes, but it didn’t overshadow the overall experience. Special thanks to Ean at reception and Soeum, the Assistant Front Office Manager—it was lovely meeting you both.
"Lovely Place"
Although it has been a few years since our stay at Le Residence in Siem Reap, the experience remains vivid in our memory. The rooms were outstanding — spacious, cosy, and set around a beautifully landscaped garden. The large bathroom area added to the comfort, while the entire property felt like a tranquil oasis in the heart of a bustling city. It was wonderfully quiet and relaxing, and at the time, the complimentary minibar and nightly cocktail at the bar were a lovely touch. During our stay, I unfortunately fell ill (unrelated to the hotel), and the staff went above and beyond by helping my wife arrange a doctor, which we deeply appreciated. Overall, it was a memorable experience, and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Siem Reap.
"Belmond Blessing"
I checked into the Belmond with a group tour over the weekend. Upon arrival, there was a loud community concert in the park across the street. All I wanted was an afternoon rest, but my first room was too noisy. Thankfully, the staff moved me quickly to an inside room, which was much quieter. Unfortunately, some of my friends weren’t as lucky. Breakfast was wonderful, though dinner was a bit underwhelming—the café felt small, lacked ambiance, and had limited options. On the positive side, I really enjoyed the spa service. It was cool, relaxing, and very comfortable. The highlight was the lovely Buddhist Blessing offered by the hotel, which made the stay extra special.
"A synonymous for class, elegance and friendliness in Siem Reap!"
When you say “Belmond,” little more needs to be added — the name itself is synonymous with class, elegance, refined taste, impeccable service, and warm hospitality worldwide. We had the pleasure of staying at Belmond La Résidence D'Angkor for four nights while exploring Siem Reap and the magnificent Angkor Archaeological Park. After long, exhausting days climbing steep temple stairways and wandering through ancient monuments, returning to the hotel each afternoon felt like stepping into a sanctuary. The serene pool and inviting spa became our havens of peace and relaxation, perfectly preparing us for another day of discovery. We also dined at the hotel several times and were impressed by the Chef’s outstanding fusion cuisine, with breakfasts being a particular highlight. Every meal was a delight. Our stay at Belmond La Résidence D'Angkor was nothing short of exceptional, and we would gladly return in the future when travel once again becomes easier and safer. Truly an experience to cherish — highly recommended!
