Bistrot Paul Bert

"Scrumptious Lunch"
We arrived on a hot July afternoon and chose to sit outside, surrounded by little trees that made the setting feel cozy and charming. We ordered the house special — Côte du Boeuf for two — and it was absolutely fabulous, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Paired with a small salad and a nice bottle of red wine, it made for a perfect meal. Service was excellent, attentive yet relaxed. Definitely recommend this restaurant!
"Very good bistro"
This was a lovely introduction to French food during our trip to Paris. The menu isn’t extensive, but it offers an excellent selection of French classics — from mussels and foie gras to steak tartare and steak frites. We started with white asparagus and terrine, followed by steak tartare and steak with frites for our mains. The service was prompt, and the food was hearty, flavorful, and perfectly paired with crusty bread. The restaurant features both a pleasant street-side terrace and a cozy, traditional French-style interior. Overall, a very enjoyable meal at reasonable prices — a great spot for anyone looking to experience authentic French dining.
"Not as wonderful as hoped"
We visited after seeing a rave review on TikTok and were immediately impressed by the vibrant atmosphere and efficient seating. The cheese scone starter was a lovely touch, and both the shepherd’s pie-style dish and the Paris Brest dessert were delicious. However, the experience was marred by a disappointing wine recommendation — the glass we were served tasted oddly fizzy and had sediment, later learning it was likely a spoiled bottle. Our waitress, though efficient, came across as rushed and not particularly friendly. Overall, the food was great, but the wine and service left us feeling let down.
"Classic neighborhood bistro"
This long-standing bistro is well known among the local French residents — and for good reason. The cooking is of excellent quality, with dishes prepared to perfection and full of authentic flavor. Prices are slightly above average, but the quality and experience make it well worth it. A great spot for a true Parisian bistro meal.
"Good but…"
Our table was placed near a cold draft at the back, barely large enough for comfort and lacking basic setup like plates and glasses when we arrived. The service was fast and friendly, but the green pepper steak, though made with good-quality meat, felt too heavy. Prices were on the higher side, and overall, while the meal wasn’t terrible, the experience didn’t justify a return visit.
"Friendly bistro"
We had a very good meal this Thursday in January with the lunch menu. The southern dry buds were delicious, and the homemade Paris-Brest was excellent. The restaurant offers a true bistro atmosphere — warm, lively, and authentic. The only downside was that the wines were a bit on the pricey side. Overall, it was a delightful experience and a very enjoyable time.
"Make sure to check availability!"
We were so excited to finally try Bistrot Paul Bert after seeing it recommended everywhere for its classic steak frites. We had read that walk-ins sometimes get lucky, so we arrived right when it opened — only to find it closed, seemingly due to a concert. Unfortunately, there was no notice on the website or anywhere else indicating the closure, which was disappointing after making the trip specifically to dine here. We completely understand scheduling conflicts can happen, but a quick online update would have helped. Still, we’ll keep this restaurant on our list and plan to return (with a reservation!) on our next visit to Paris.
"A real bistro"
We had a very good lunch this Thursday in January with the lunch menu. The southern cuttlefish heads were delicious, and the Paris-Brest was excellent — perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The only downside was the wine, which was quite expensive compared to the rest of the meal. Overall, a very good dining experience despite the high wine prices.
"Congratulations to the chef 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾"
Everything was excellent from start to finish — a true 10/10 for the chef! 😋 The dishes were full of flavor, beautifully prepared, and perfectly balanced. I highly recommend trying the brioche perdue and the chocolate mousse — both were simply divine! 😋😋 A wonderful dining experience all around.

Bistrot Paul Bert
A quintessential French bistro: cosy, classic dishes, steak and seafood specialties, and a warm local atmosphere. Great for experiencing a more down-to-earth but high-quality Paris dinner.
