"Cozy Vibes and Nice Presentation, But Food Fell a Bit Flat"

I was recommended this spot and was excited to try it out. It's definitely best to go with a group of two or more, as they serve quite a lot of food. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the presentation of the dishes is well done. However, I wasn’t particularly impressed with the overall food quality—it was just okay. The standout for me was the fish, which was the best among the tapas we tried. While the vibe is charming and the experience pleasant, the flavors didn’t quite live up to the hype. Worth a visit for the ambiance, but temper your expectations on the food.

"Disappointing Meal That Didn’t Live Up to the Hype"

I genuinely hoped to enjoy this meal, but it ended up being the worst dining experience we had in Barcelona—even less satisfying than meals from basic food halls. The food lacked depth of flavor and felt rushed; for example, the mini paella resembled spicy rice topped with a couple of prawns, with no caramelized base and an overall dry texture. Many dishes were off in execution—either overcooked or underdone. The spanakopita had raw pastry underneath, and the chicken dish was unpleasantly mushy. Service was just okay, but felt rushed, and some staff seemed visibly impatient with tourists who didn’t speak Spanish. The atmosphere was by far the worst part. We were squeezed into a cramped space behind a small bar with barely any room for our plates or glasses—keeping your wine in hand felt safer than leaving it on the table. Waitstaff and other diners constantly bumped into us. On top of that, loud and cheesy dance-pop music (yes, even the Macarena) played nonstop, creating an environment that felt more like a fast-food joint trying to flip tables quickly than a restaurant focused on hospitality. We were encouraged to leave a review via QR code at the end, which may explain the large number of positive ratings online. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t match the hype. Though the prices may seem reasonable, I would have gladly spent more for a quieter setting, better food, and a place that values diners as guests rather than just a number in a fast-moving queue.

"A Must-Try in Barcelona – Tapas With a Twist and Top-Notch Service"

I can only echo the glowing praise this place consistently receives. The food is absolutely delicious, with a refreshing and varied range of tapas. Unlike many places that stick to the same tired options, this restaurant offers a surprise tasting menu tailored to your preferences. Don’t be put off by not ordering à la carte—it’s part of the fun! We asked for mostly meat, a bit of vegetables, and one seafood dish. What we got was incredible: duck, beef, chicken, turkey, a flavorful prawn and mussel paella, plus some wonderful veggie sides. Everything was well-cooked and full of flavor. The staff were amazingly friendly and attentive, and the service was quick without ever feeling rushed. For the quality, it’s also fantastic value. Truly, what more could you ask for in a restaurant? Don’t visit Barcelona without making time for a meal at Bodega Biarritz! (Just a tip: they’re closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, so plan accordingly!)

"Lovely Surprise Menu and Cozy Atmosphere—But Ending Fell Flat"

This place is truly unique and cozy 🥰. I tried the surprise menu for €20 (drinks not included), and it was a great experience overall. You simply let them know if there’s anything you don’t eat, and they adjust the menu accordingly. Everything I tasted was delicious, and the guy who served me was incredibly kind and attentive. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn when a girl abruptly brought me the bill—without me asking and while I was still waiting for the dessert menu 😅. It made me feel like I was being rushed out, which dampened the whole vibe. That said, I did appreciate the nice touch of a non-alcoholic drink served with the bill instead of the usual limoncello. It’s a charming spot with great food—just wish the farewell felt as warm as the welcome.

"Attentive Service from Start to Finish"

From the moment you arrive, the staff's attentiveness stands out—even while you're still waiting in line to be seated. Once inside, they take the time to describe each dish in detail and are more than happy to accommodate any allergies or dietary restrictions. The level of care and attention makes the whole dining experience feel personal and thoughtful.

"Overhyped and Too Touristy for My Taste"

I had high hopes for this place after hearing good things, but honestly, it felt too geared toward tourists. Instead of offering a traditional tapas menu where you can pick and choose, they only had a fixed set menu during our visit—which took away the fun of exploring different dishes. The food itself wasn’t bad, and the service was kind and attentive. But it just didn’t deliver the authentic, varied experience I was hoping for. As a true food lover, I have to say there are many other tapas spots in Barcelona that offer better flavor and more freedom of choice. The only standouts for me were the rib and the crème brûlée. I’m being completely honest here—I wouldn’t return. The high ratings baffle me a bit.

"Worth the Hype – A Top Tapas Spot Open on Sundays"

No regrets dining here! As one of the highest-rated tapas bars open on Sundays, it definitely lives up to its reputation. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and the cozy atmosphere just adds to the charm—plus it's conveniently close to La Rambla. If I had to point out one small flaw, it would be the slight sourness left in the red wine beef stew—unusual for me, but not unpleasant. In fact, it just gave me a great excuse to order another glass of wine. Service was fantastic throughout. All in all, a great experience!

"Overrated and Rushed – Feels More Like a Tourist Trap"

Honestly, I don’t understand the flood of glowing reviews. This place felt like a tourist trap from the start. The space is narrow and dark—unfortunate, especially on a sunny day—and the whole experience felt rushed, likely to keep the turnover high. They offer set menus for €45/€55 for two people (drinks not included), which seems reasonable until you factor in the underwhelming food and impersonal atmosphere. As soon as we finished, we were handed a QR code and asked to leave a review, which might explain the volume of overly positive ratings. In the end, it was disappointing and definitely not worth the hype.

"Worth the Wait – A Tapas Gem You’ll Want to Return To"

This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. On our first attempt, the queue was too long, but we came back right at lunchtime opening—and it was a success! The food was incredible, even better than we anticipated. While it’s a bit different not choosing each dish yourself, everything served was delicious. We mentioned we weren’t fans of salmon, and they happily swapped it for some amazing prawns instead. This was actually my second visit—the first was a few years ago—and I’m thrilled to say the quality is still top-notch. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Barcelona. Highly recommended for some of the best tapas around!

"Good Value and Variety, But Flavors Fell a Bit Flat"

Overall, this was a good experience considering the €50 price for eight montaditos and a plate of Iberico. We appreciated how the kitchen tailored the dishes to our dietary needs, and each montadito was presented with care. However, many of them leaned too heavily on creamy or cheesy components, which made the overall flavor and texture feel a bit repetitive. That said, we were impressed by the range of proteins offered—prawn, cod, beef, pork, and turkey—which added variety. Our top favorites were the river prawn, beef lasagna, and turkey skewer montaditos. The location is excellent, though the interior could use a refresh, as the ambiance felt a bit worn. Still, service was fast and attentive, which added to the positive experience.
