"Authentic Atmosphere, but Service and Communication Fell Short"

We came with high expectations for our business group meal, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to them. While the restaurant offers a spacious, centrally located setting with a genuinely authentic atmosphere and tasty food, several issues dampened our visit. Service felt chaotic and the menu was difficult to navigate. With a group of nine, we faced significant language barriers that made communicating our food preferences extremely challenging. What should have been a relaxing and enjoyable meal became a stressful effort just to be understood. Payment was also problematic, with splitting the bill turning into a frustrating ordeal due to the same communication issues. By the end, it was clear the staff were frustrated, which didn’t help the situation. While we understand large groups can be demanding, a little patience and friendliness would have gone a long way.

"Excellent Local Cuisine and Great Value"

We had a great experience overall. The food was delicious and authentically local, and the service was equally impressive—friendly and attentive throughout. The €25 menu offered outstanding value for money, making the meal even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

"Classic Barcelona Dining with Good Food and Room for Service Improvement"

As one of the oldest restaurants in Barcelona, this spot offers a charming and relaxed setting steeped in history. The food was quite good and arrived with well-paced timing, adding to the overall pleasant experience. However, the service was a bit inconsistent and could have been more attentive. Still, it was an enjoyable meal in a classic atmosphere worth visiting.

"Disappointing Experience Despite the Charm and Reputation"

Despite the many positive reviews on Google, our visit turned out to be quite disappointing. The food was average at best, but what truly let us down was the service—virtually non-existent, especially if you don’t speak Spanish. We made an online reservation through their website, only to arrive and be told we weren’t on the list. The two ladies who served us didn’t speak English—or perhaps chose not to—which was surprising given the popularity of the restaurant. At one point, food was dropped on the floor while clearing our plates, and it was simply left there. Overall, the service felt rushed, inattentive, and disinterested—though perhaps we were just unlucky that day. That said, the restaurant itself has undeniable charm, with a cozy interior and a rich sense of history. It’s unfortunate that the experience didn’t live up to its setting.

"Historic Charm and Great Food—Just Come Early"

Dining at Barcelona’s oldest restaurant was a really cool experience. We were lucky to get a table without a reservation—arriving early definitely helps, as we only waited about 20 minutes for a table of four. The food was amazing and the service was impressively quick. The decor adds a lot of charm and character to the place. The only downside was the washroom, which wasn’t very clean. Still, overall, a memorable and worthwhile visit!

"A Special Place That Captures the Spirit of Local Celebrations"

This is truly a special place, often chosen by locals for important occasions—and as tourists, we could genuinely feel the festive atmosphere at the nearby tables. The elegant decor adds to the charm and creates a refined dining experience. Both the food and the service were superb, making our visit truly memorable. Highly recommended for those looking to enjoy authentic local ambiance with top-quality cuisine.

The oldest restaurant in Barcelona, known for rustic Catalan fare. We are in the heart of Barcelona, the district of Ciutat Vella, the ancient municipality of Barcelona, which began with the foundation of the Roman Barcino on Monte Taber, between two streams (today the Rambla and Via Laietana).
