"Appalling Experience on Sturovo to Budapest Route"
I reserved first-class seats only to find them already occupied. There was no water left as previous passengers had taken it, no space for our luggage, and disgusting chewing gum stuck on the side. To make matters worse, when I arrived at my hotel, I found chewing gum stuck to my coat from the overhead storage, effectively ruining it. No staff checked tickets, no water was provided, and the train was so filthy that it damaged my belongings. Absolutely appalling — I essentially paid for no service at all.
"Frustrating and Outdated Experience with České dráhy"
My experience with České dráhy has been frustrating. Compared to other providers, it’s far too expensive, and the pricing is often confusing—sometimes first-class tickets are even cheaper than standard ones. The trains themselves can be uncomfortably cold due to the air conditioning, and the seating isn’t ideal for longer journeys. What bothers me most is the frequent delays, with little compensation or service to make up for them. Overall, the system feels outdated and disappointing, especially compared to modern alternatives like RegioJet.
"Disappointing Sleeper Experience on Prague to Bratislava Train"
I specifically chose the overnight train from Prague to Bratislava to get some rest, expecting to book a sleeper car. However, it was impossible to purchase a bed ticket online or in person. At the main station, I was told to ask the conductor on board, who then confirmed it wasn’t possible either. It’s incredibly frustrating that České dráhy, a company whose core business is running trains, can’t even provide basic sleeper ticket service. I ended up stuck in a regular seat all night, unable to rest before driving the next day. A huge disappointment and clear failure on their part. They need to improve, or risk losing customers entirely.
"Disappointing “First Class” Experience on Berlin to Prague Train"
The train ride from Berlin to Prague itself was comfortable, but our first-class experience was extremely disappointing. Despite booking first-class tickets, the carriage was noisy, crowded with students and families, and aisles blocked by luggage — it was clear not everyone had first-class seats, and the conductor didn’t address it. The website promises attendants taking food orders at your seat, but we received nothing. Even a simple bottle of water had to be purchased from the café for 3 euros, cash only, and it was marked “not for sale.” Definitely not what I expected from first class.
"České dráhy: A Comedic Tragedy on Rails"
Returning to Czechia after traveling through France and Switzerland — where every train was punctual and spotless — feels like entering a bizarre reality show with České dráhy. Overbooked trains, broken AC in summer, freezing temperatures in winter, constant banging and squealing, nonfunctional toilets, and train cars that don’t match your booking are just the start. Delays seem guaranteed from the very first stop, and the issues never end. For a so-called national carrier, it’s a pitiful display of incompetence. Traveling with them is like signing up for a guaranteed dose of frustration and absurdity every single time.
"Frustrating Tech Issues on Berlin–Prague Train"
On our trip from Berlin to Prague, the WiFi was broken the entire way, and on the return journey, none of the chargers in our carriage worked. It’s hard to understand how these issues weren’t fixed before running the train. The only positive was that the train was mostly on time, with just a few minutes’ delay — surprisingly good for anyone accustomed to Deutsche Bahn!
"Disappointing First-Class Experience on Prague–Český Krumlov Route"
I booked first-class tickets from Prague to Český Krumlov and back, but the experience was extremely disappointing. On the way south, the first-class carriage was outdated — likely 50 years old — with no plugs, no WiFi, and such oppressive heat that we had to open the windows. The conductor even found me sitting on the floor in the baggage compartment, apologized, and offered a refund. We ended up riding in the last car instead. On the return trip, the first-class bathroom was broken and noisy, and the WiFi didn’t work. When I explained to the conductor in second class why I wasn’t in first class, he didn’t care. Honestly, there’s no benefit to paying extra for first class on this service.
